Chapter 121 - Chapter 121: Battle of the Behemoths

Chapter 121: Battle of the Behemoths

"This feels pretty good," Natasha said, piloting the Chitauri flying chariot. It seemed it wasn't too difficult; after some initial wobbling, she was steadily getting the hang of it.

Peter had wanted to catch up with Silas, but looking down at the chaotic streets, he decided to stay and protect the civilians.

"Look behind you," Peter said, kicking away a Chitauri invader who was about to attack Steve.

Steve turned and looked at Peter. "Are you Spider-Man?"

"Uh... you've heard of me?" Peter asked.

"Of course," Steve said, looking at Peter. "Judging by your voice, you're not even an adult yet, are you?"

"But I think I can handle this," Peter said, picking up a rock and throwing it at a nearby Chitauri invader.

Steve nodded. "The world needs good young people like you."

"Thanks. By the way, are you Captain America? I've seen the movies about you, they were so cool." Peter dodged an attack from a Chitauri invader without turning his head, then shot a web to tie up his attacker.

"The movies are fake, kid. This is real," Steve said, throwing his shield. It struck an enemy in the sky, then bounced back and forth, hitting four or five enemies before returning to Steve's hand.

Peter looked up at the sky, then back at Steve. "Hey, cool! But that violates the laws of physics."

"You still have a lot to learn, kid," Steve said, tapping his shield.

"I think we should retreat, Captain," Peter said, his eyes wide as he looked past Steve.

Steve frowned and turned around. A giant behemoth appeared before him.

"Go," Steve said, turning to run. This was something he couldn't handle.

Peter grabbed Steve's hand and quickly swung away with a web, leading him to safety.

Steve looked back at the monster, tried throwing his shield at it, but the Chitauri Leviathan merely opened its mouth and swallowed Captain America's shield whole.

"Alright, that's slightly more in line with the laws of physics," Peter said, placing Steve on a safe building.

"Could you get me a weapon?" Steve asked, looking at his hand. His shield was gone, just like that.

"Of course," Peter replied, shooting a web to snatch a weapon from a nearby Chitauri invader and handing it to Steve.

Steve weighed the weapon in his hand. "Thanks, but how do I use this?"

"Let me show you." Peter stood next to Steve and instructed, "Like this... yes, press here."

Chiu! A laser shot out, randomly hitting and taking down a Chitauri invader.

"How does that feel?" Peter asked.

Steve nodded. "It's alright, but it's not quite the same as my old friend, the shield."

At this moment, four or five Chitauri invaders on flying chariots surrounded Peter and Steve.

Steve and Peter stood back-to-back. "Take out the enemies in front of you. Can you do that?"

"Don't worry," Peter said, giving an OK sign.

The Sky Battle

"Hasn't our big baby arrived yet?" Tony asked, being chased by the Chitauri Leviathan.

"He should be here," Natasha said, helping the unconscious Barton, and pressing her comms.

Tony looked down, scanning the nearby streets. "Why don't I see him?"

Just then, the Chitauri Leviathan reached Tony's back, opening its massive mouth as if to swallow him whole.

Clang! Boom!

"Hulk!" A green figure came flying in and punched the Chitauri Leviathan, knocking it off course just as it was about to swallow Tony.

"Okay, I see him now," Tony said, hovering mid-air.

Boom! The Chitauri Leviathan's huge body crashed to the ground, its tail swaying as it tried to stand up again. The Hulk, however, landed on its head and began tearing off parts of the Leviathan's armor with his strong hands.

"Looks like our darling is still the strongest," Tony joked.

"I think it looks more like a savage gorilla fighting for a mate," Rhodey said, flying next to Tony in his War Machine armor.

Tony turned to ask, "Why are you here?"

"A portal appeared in the sky, and the boss told me to find something to plug it up," Rhodey replied.

"Haa!" Steve hammered a Chitauri soldier with the weapon.

Peter turned to look at him. Steve shrugged. "I feel more comfortable using it this way."

"Uh..." Peter was speechless.

The Ground

The Talisman Squad looked at the sky full of Chitauri invaders, exchanged glances, and took out their respective coffins, preparing to pack up the bodies.

A Chitauri soldier landed, and a coffin lid suddenly appeared above his head. Bang! It covered him.

The Talisman Squad swarmed him, using their nimble limbs and perfect teamwork to quickly place him in the coffin and seal the lid.

"What are you doing?" Little Black asked, tilting his head as he approached the Talisman Squad.

"We're packing the coffins," the Captain replied. He was now wearing a voice modulator around his neck.

Little Black looked the coffin up and down, then pointed at the Chitauri army overhead. "Can you pack all of them?"

"Don't forget, we have other brothers," the Captain said confidently.

No sooner had the Captain spoken than all the Shadowkhan ninjas emerged from the Shadow Realm, each carrying their own coffin on their shoulder.

Little Black's mouth twitched at the sight. Big Black, who was standing nearby, also silently picked up a coffin.

Slap!

Little Black hit Big Black on the head with two fingers. "Why are you grabbing a coffin?"

"Well, everyone else grabbed one," Big Black said, rubbing his head, feeling wronged. Ever since his last mistake, Silas had assigned him to Little Black, saying he must obey Little Black no matter what.

"The master said you follow me, and I won't allow you to do anything so stupid." As soon as Little Black spoke, all the coffin-carrying Shadowkhan ninjas looked at him.

Little Black silently took a step back, pushing Big Black forward.

"???" Big Black.

Roar!

Suddenly, the Chitauri Leviathan, swaying its massive body, charged over, ready to wipe out the Shadowkhan ninjas in one sweep.

"I leave it to you, Little Black." The Captain led all the Shadowkhan ninjas back into the Shadow Realm. The Talisman Squad Captain's authority, like Little Black's, allowed him to command the Shadowkhan army, though Little Black could also command the Shadowkhan Eaters.

Just as Big Black was about to sink into the Shadow Realm to escape, Little Black grabbed him by the back of the neck, hoisting him up.

"You're confident you can stop it, but I'm not," Big Black pleaded. He didn't want to die again, having been traumatized by Little Black blocking his way last time.

But Little Black held Big Black firmly until the Chitauri Leviathan was right upon them.

Little Black stood with his back to the Chitauri Leviathan, ignoring Big Black's panic, and waved his left hand.

Boom!

A gigantic mass of black shadow surged from the ground, the size of a tall building, with a single red eye glowing in its center.

Its massive claws, as if capable of tearing the sky, grabbed the Chitauri Leviathan's mouth and forcefully pulled it open.

Crack! Boom! Bang!

The Chitauri Leviathan was brutally torn in half by the Shadow Behemoth.

Then, the Shadow Behemoth opened its own massive fangs and bit down on the mouth of the Chitauri Leviathan.

Boom!
