Chapter 120: The Battle Erupts

Stark Tower Rooftop

Thor was fighting Loki, swinging his hammer. Although Loki couldn't defeat Thor, Thor was constantly being tricked by him.

"Haha~ Here's your hat back." Loki took out the pink hat and placed it on Thor's head as he knelt on the ground.

Thor, breathing heavily, threw a punch at Loki, only for Loki to dissolve into a mere illusion. The real Loki had already appeared behind him.

Loki placed the sharp Scepter on Thor's shoulder and smiled. "It seems you still haven't learned your lesson."

"No, I simply choose to always believe in my brother," Thor's tone leveled out. If it were anyone else, could they trick him with the same method repeatedly?

"Need a hand?" Tony flew up behind Loki, grabbed him by the back, and slammed him hard onto the ground.

Once out of danger, Thor immediately stood up, grabbed the collar of the prone Loki, and demanded, "Do you even consider me your brother?!"

"..." Loki remained silent, looking calmly at Thor.

Thor pointed his hammer at the column of light. "Shut that thing down."

At this moment, Loki had used the Tesseract to open a spatial wormhole, and the Chitauri army was ready to invade Earth at any moment.

"Once the Tesseract begins, it cannot be shut down." Loki smiled. In the end, he had won. He was the King of Earth.

Thor, enraged, threw Loki into the Stark Tower, then flew toward the wormhole, intending to see if his thunder power could destroy the opening.

"Thor, I understand you want to discipline your emotionally stunted younger brother, but could you please not throw him into my tower?" Tony said, exasperated. He was planning to go back and change into a new suit.

Tony said, "J.A.R.V.I.S."

"Received, sir." J.A.R.V.I.S. began deploying the Mark VII armor.

Tony entered the tower from the other side.

Another Location

"What in the world is that?!" Peter stood atop a skyscraper, gazing in astonishment at the column of light reaching into the sky.

"Get ready to fight," Silas warned. But even if Silas hadn't spoken, Peter was already prepared. The Spider-Sense in his mind was constantly warning him of impending danger.

"Here they come!" Silas said. Countless Chitauri invaders flew out of the spatial wormhole.

"What are these things?" Peter asked, amazed.

"Never mind what they are; they clearly aren't friendly." As Silas spoke, another Chitauri soldier, riding a flying chariot, attacked Silas and Peter.

The Parker brothers quickly dodged. Peter shot a web, grabbed the chariot, and pulled hard, causing the attacker to fall from the height.

"Watch out, Peter," Silas cautioned. He then summoned all the Shadowkhan he currently had, including the Talisman Squad, and Big Black and Little Black (the Shadowkhan Eaters). He had waited so long for this day; this was a perfect opportunity to earn a massive amount of Justice Points and Sin Points.

"Where are you going?!" Peter yelled.

Silas looked back. "To check out that column of light." Then he left.

"I'm coming too." Peter quickly dealt with the surrounding Chitauri and then swung on a web, chasing after Silas.

The Tower

"What? Mortal, do you dare challenge the majesty of a god?" Loki raised the Scepter and pointed it at Tony's chest.

Tony raised his hands, looking at the two horns on Loki's head. "Objectively speaking, you only qualify as a reindeer. If you absolutely have to be associated with a god, it should be the one under Santa Claus."

"I will turn you into a pig." Loki touched Tony's chest with the Scepter, which produced a sharp clang. Loki frowned, then tapped again, refusing to believe it wouldn't work.

"If you're planning surgery on me, could you at least use some anesthesia first?" Tony asked, looking at Loki still trying.

Loki, enraged, grabbed Tony by the neck. "Do you know the consequences of insulting a god?"

"A free... cookie?" Tony's face was flushed from being choked by Loki.

"Die!" Loki forcefully threw Tony. Smash! Tony was flung out the window.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., are you ready?!" Tony anxiously urged. If the armor didn't arrive soon, he might actually die.

"Sir, it requires a moment more," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied.

Watching the ground rapidly approaching, Tony once again felt the sensation of impending death. Just then, a pair of warm hands grabbed him.

"Looks like you need help." Silas arrived just in time, saw the plummeting Tony, and caught him.

Silas jumped to the nearest rooftop and set Tony down.

"Thank you," Tony said gratefully. If it hadn't been for Silas, he might really have died this time.

Just then, a red object, dragging a long, glowing red tail, flew up behind Tony. The armor began to attach itself to Tony's body, enveloping him completely. Finally, the steel mask went on, its eyes glowing with a fierce light.

"New suit? Very impressive," Silas complimented.

"I might not have been able to put it on without you." The thrusters on Tony's suit immediately activated, and he flew back toward Loki's location.

Silas watched Tony leave, then looked up at the Tesseract at the top of Stark Tower.

"Look here, Reindeer-Bambi." Tony flew back, raised his hand, aimed at Loki, and fired a Repulsor Blast.

Bang!

Loki was slammed into the wall by the blast and then fell onto the floor.

Boom! Another tremendous crash sounded. A massive creature, covered in black, scaly armor, with an abyssal mouth that let out a terrifying roar, clipped the side of the skyscraper with its left wing. The tower instantly turned into a ruin.

"Guys, it looks like the situation is far from good," Natasha said via comms from the jet.

Tony turned his head. "Has our big guy shown up yet?"

"He's still en route, says he'll be here soon," Natasha said, shooting down an enemy.

Steve deflected an enemy with his shield. "Is there any way to shut that thing in the sky down?"

"I'll try." Just as Natasha was about to fly the jet, the left wing thruster exploded.

"Barton?!" Natasha turned to look and saw Barton not far away.

"It looks like your Agent Barton is having trouble figuring out who the enemy is right now." Tony dodged one of Barton's arrows, flew up to him, opened a compartment on his right arm, and fired a grappling line that wrapped around Barton.

Barton's hands and feet were bound by the line, and he fell to the ground, struggling in vain to break free.

"Relax, Agent Barton, I'm just forcing you to take a break." A small gun rose from Tony's shoulder, firing a tranquilizer dart. The dart hit Barton's arm, and in a moment, Barton fell unconscious.

"Natasha, pick up Agent Barton." Tony said, then turned and left.

Natasha managed to pilot the plane to a nearby stop. She looked up at the sky full of Chitauri invaders, then suddenly leaped out and grabbed onto one of the flying chariots, climbing onto it. She kicked the Chitauri driving the chariot off and looked at the controls in front of her. "I hope this isn't too difficult."
