Chapter 110: Peter's Guess
Peter frowned, wanting to ask more questions, but the gunfire had already started. He was about to grab the woman and leave, but he found that the woman had already taken advantage of the distraction to hide behind a wall.
Relying on his excellent reflexes, Peter jumped up and completed a flip in mid-air. The bullets passed through the gaps of his body, not a single one hitting him.
"Perhaps your mothers shouldn't give you such dangerous toys," Peter said, shooting webs to knock the five men's guns aside.
"Run!" The five men lost the will to resist and tried to flee quickly.
"Hey! Wait a minute!" Peter used his web to get in front of the five men, blocking them. "If you do something wrong, you need to go see the police."
"F*ck, that bitch stole from us first!" the leading man insisted. He admitted that he had considered doing something bad just now, but he believed the woman was asking for it.
"Then, Miss, you..." Peter didn't finish his sentence before he realized the woman was gone.
Seeing Spider-Man distracted, the five men quickly started running, trying to escape.
Peter turned his head, shot webs from both hands, and tied all five men together. After using their phone to call the police station, he left.
Rooftop
"Where did she run off to?" Peter stood atop the high-rise building, overlooking the entire street, but the woman's figure was nowhere to be found.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The watch on Peter's wrist chimed. He wore this watch at night specifically so he wouldn't forget the time. When it reached 11 PM, he had to go home and rest.
Peter turned off the alarm. After carefully surveying the street one last time, he swung away from Hell's Kitchen using his webs.
At Home
"I'm so hungry~" Peter entered Silas's room and started eating a sandwich. He took it from the fridge in the kitchen. Since becoming Spider-Man, he noticed his appetite had increased significantly. Especially when he returned late at night, his stomach was always empty, so he asked Aunt May to specifically leave food in the fridge. His excuse was that he was "going through a growth spurt" and always woke up hungry at night.
"So, why are you eating here?" Silas said listlessly from his bed. He was too annoyed by the Talisman clues tonight to figure out the correct answer, so he just decided to lie down and sleep. He hadn't been lying down for long when Peter returned, carrying food and coming into his room.
"Don't pretend, Silas. Usually at this hour, don't you always say the nightlife is just beginning?" Peter said, sitting in a chair and eating his sandwich.
"Things are different now~" Silas sighed.
Peter shrugged.
Silas looked at Peter eating and asked, "Peter, let me ask you something."
"What is it?" Peter swallowed a bite of his sandwich, putting the remaining part on the table.
"What object exists in people's lives and can transform in countless ways?" Silas recited the Talisman clue.
"Building blocks?" Peter replied uncertainly.
Silas quickly sat up, a look of joy on his face. This answer might work! He silently asked the system: System, is it building blocks?
But the system didn't respond, meaning the answer was incorrect. Silas quickly returned to his calm state and lay back down. Everything suddenly seemed dull.
"It's not right?" Peter realized he might have been wrong when he saw the rapid change in Silas's expression.
"Mhm, it's not that," Silas replied.
Peter picked up the remaining sandwich from the table. "Speaking of which, Silas, why are you asking this? I don't remember being assigned that kind of homework."
"Nothing, I saw the question online accidentally, and it stumped me immediately," Silas explained.
Poof! Peter accidentally spat out the sandwich in his mouth, but fortunately, he caught it with a napkin in time.
"What's wrong?" Silas asked, seeing Peter's reaction.
"Haha~" Peter couldn't stop laughing. "Silas, since when do you care so much about a question? Usually, you don't even bother thinking about the easy questions teachers ask, let alone this one?"
"Is it that funny?" Silas glared at Peter.
Feeling Silas's gaze, Peter's shaking laughter immediately stopped. He turned his head stiffly. "Maybe it's modeling clay?"
"Modeling clay?" Silas submitted the answer to the system, but the system still didn't respond.
"Ugh..." Silas lay spread-eagle on the bed. It still wasn't that simple.
"Looks like that's not right either," Peter said, finishing the last bite of his sandwich.
Silas turned his head. "Peter, are you full?"
"Almost. I had milk and cereal downstairs too," Peter said.
Silas heard this, did a swift carp flip to stand up, and walked to Peter's side.
"What... are you going to do..." Peter swallowed, leaning back slightly and looking up at Silas. Was Silas going to hit him?
Unexpectedly, Silas smiled and sat next to him. Clap, clap, clap! He clapped his hands.
Immediately, Shadowkhan ninjas emerged from the shadows, each holding a platter covered with a metal dome.
A Shadowkhan ninja pulled out a folding table that was as large as the bed and set it up. Twelve platters were placed on the table.
"Are you sure you don't want to eat?" Silas asked again, looking over his shoulder.
"I'm full... I guess," Peter replied, staring at the platters. He had a feeling something wasn't right.
"That's good," Silas said, stretching his arms.
The Shadowkhan ninjas uncovered the platters in order—a total of twelve dishes were laid out before Silas.
"Ah~ What a shame, Peter, that you're full. I'll have to eat all this alone. It's going to be lonely," Silas said, resting his head on his hand, occasionally glancing at Peter.
Peter stared at the food on the dining table. "Actually, I might be able to eat a little more."
"Is that so?" Silas said, stretching leisurely. "In that case, I might as well put it away."
"No, no, no! Silas, I think food is always better when shared," Peter said, rushing to Silas's side and holding out his hands to stop him.
Silas laughed and shook his head. These dishes were all brought by the Shadowkhan ninjas from the different parts of the world. The Shadowkhan ninjas had successfully marked coordinates there. However, marking every small area was impossible, so for now, they could only mark major cities. This way, even if a Talisman wasn't in that exact location, they could quickly find the nearest major city.
"Let's eat together," Silas wouldn't really stop Peter from eating. He just wanted to tease him a little.
