Chapter 111: The Hungry Klein
After hearing Silas's invitation, Peter quickly pulled up a chair and sat down. Spider-Man had a huge appetite.
Silas pulled off a Chicken leg and handed it to Peter. "Eat slowly, there's plenty of food."
"Silas, thank you so much," Peter said, accepting the Chicken leg and eating ravenously.
"No problem, there's so much food here anyway." Silas started eating too, as the food definitely stimulated the appetite.
While eating the Chicken leg, Peter suddenly remembered something. "I ran into... a super... hot girl today."
"Is it that secretary next to Stark again?" Silas thought Peter had run into Natasha on a mission.
"No," Peter swallowed the meat. "It was another one. Great figure, very pretty face, and she had pure white hair. She was surrounded by five guys, and I saved her, but when I turned around, she had run off."
"What, you played the hero and saved the damsel, and now you want her to kiss you?" Silas didn't think too much about the person Peter described.
"That's not it. Saving people is my responsibility," Peter quickly waved his hands. Although he was slightly tempted, that wasn't his motivation for saving people.
Silas nodded. "I know. But since you think she's great, maybe you should hang around that area more often. What if you run into her again?"
"Maybe. I also have some things to figure out there, but even without that girl, I'd still go," Peter said, patting his heart. That place was practically a haven for crime. Peter witnessed no fewer than ten shooting incidents in just that one night. Some were for money, some for lust, and some people were just trying to cause panic.
Peter couldn't believe this was New York. He never thought such a messy, dilapidated place existed behind the glamour.
"Keep it up, Peter," Silas encouraged him.
Peter nodded, resumed eating his barbecue, and then looked up and asked, "Silas, why haven't I seen you go out recently?"
"I've been sending my subordinates to search for Tara. I'm staying here to guard against his sudden attack," Silas lied, without batting an eye.
Peter didn't detect Silas's lie and believed him. "Don't worry, Silas, the moment I get a clue about that guy, I'll tell you immediately."
"Mhm," Silas replied.
Suddenly, a voice came from outside the window. "Staying up so late, are you going to be late again tomorrow?"
"Teacher?" Silas never expected Klein to show up so late.
The Chicken bone in Peter's hand dropped onto the table. Why was the Teacher here so late, especially looking like that monster? It was quite frightening.
"I just finished some things. I happened to pass by your house on my way home and saw your lights were on, so I dropped by." Klein climbed into Silas's room and, seeing the bewildered expressions on the Parker brothers' faces, explained his reason for visiting.
"Why aren't you two asleep yet?" Klein's eyes unintentionally swept over the delicious food on the table.
This small gesture didn't escape the Parker brothers. Silas was the first to speak. "Teacher, since you're here, why don't you join us for some food?"
"That would be very kind of you," Klein said, sitting down on the floor and grabbing a steak to eat.
He had actually smelled a rich aroma nearby and followed it. When he saw it was Silas's house, he decided to drop by.
A night of strenuous activity had left Klein extremely hungry. He was struggling to control his desire to eat people, wanting to rush home and seal himself away until sunrise. But when he saw the massive amount of food here and heard Silas's invitation, he started eating ravenously.
"Eat slowly, Teacher," Silas said, handing Klein a glass of juice. Klein looked like a starving ghost.
Peter was also stunned by Klein's appearance. Was he that hungry? Peter had also been a superhero all night, but he wasn't this famished.
In less than five minutes, Klein had devoured all the food on the table, leaving only the lamb chop in Silas's hand and the steak in Peter's hand.
"I apologize, I was truly too hungry," Klein said, standing up immediately upon seeing the empty table. He couldn't understand why he was so hungry. The moment he took the first bite, he completely lost control, only knowing to consume constantly.
"It's fine, Teacher," Silas said, waving his hand. The food wasn't important; he could just have the Shadowkhan summon more. The problem was that Klein's eating looked too scary—if he had been any more enthusiastic, he might have eaten the platters too.
"Then, see you tomorrow!" Klein jumped out the window after eating, too embarrassed to stay any longer.
"Peter, are you full?" Silas asked the boy next to him.
Peter took a bite of his steak. "I'm full. In that case, Silas, I'll head back to my room now."
"Alright. Go this way," Silas opened a path for Peter to the room next door. He didn't want to see Peter climbing out the window anymore.
"Thanks," Peter said, swallowing the last bite of his steak before going back to the room next door.
Looking at the empty room, Silas waved his hand, and the table, along with the leftover food scraps, all sank into the Shadow Realm.
"Wooden object? Face-changing?" Silas guessed two answers in succession, but finding them both wrong, he simply lay down on the bed to sleep.
The Other Side
The Talisman Squad was carrying a large wooden box, moving through the Shadow Realm, deciding on their next destination. The wooden box now contained Transformers, modeling clay, ceramics, and building blocks—all the objects the Talisman Squad thought were possible answers.
Just then, a Shadowkhan ninja came up to the captain, nudged him with his elbow, and held out a piece of paper with a red mask printed on it.
"Mhm~" The captain thought this was highly likely. He immediately led his team out of the Shadow Realm.
At a stage, a Sichuan opera face-changing performer was changing his masks to the rhythm of the music. Suddenly, a group of Shadowkhan ninjas appeared on stage. Four Shadowkhan ninjas carried the wooden box on their shoulders and started dancing to the music.
The captain immediately commanded the four ninjas. Without a word, the four ninjas grabbed the face-changing performer's limbs and lifted him directly above their heads.
"What are you doing!" The face-changing performer had no idea what was happening. He was suddenly carried away by a group of black-clad figures.
Smack!
The performer was thrown into the wooden box by the four Shadowkhan ninjas. The captain picked up the lid, leaped up, and covered the box.
Shaking to the rhythm of the music, the Talisman Squad vanished with the face-changing performer.
"..." Only the bewildered onlookers remained in place.
