Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Green Goblin III

"Thanks, pal." Peter said, landing next to Silas.

Silas hadn't initially planned to help Peter, as Peter was Spider-Man after all. However, after careful consideration, he ultimately decided to intervene. He knew about the danger because his Shadowkhan were following Peter, and since they held no malicious intent, they didn't trigger Peter's Spider-Sense.

"Why aren't you talking, pal? Come on, this is boring," Peter continued to chatter next to Silas.

Silas remained silent, then simply merged into his own shadow.

"Oh, my God!" Peter exclaimed, clutching his head. How did that person just vanish? He suddenly disappeared! Peter rubbed his head and muttered, "I remember him being able to talk. What a weird guy."

[Saved the civilians, gained 35 Justice Points]

"Better than nothing, I guess," Silas shrugged. The Justice Points were definitely lacking. Silas had returned to his room, and this time, he was ready for a proper rest.

Morning

"Midtown High School?" Pace sneered. "What? Does one of your Oscorp shareholders still go to high school?"

"No, the son of the second shareholder attends school there," a hint of anger appeared in Norman's eyes. Pace's comment was clearly mocking him and the entire Oscorp corporation.

"So you want to kill his son too?" Pace asked.

Norman shook his head. "No. I want to use his son to threaten him and make him transfer his shares to me."

"I see," Pace grinned. "How about you let him transfer the shares to me instead?"

"That sounds great! That way we can strengthen our cooperation," Norman replied, perfectly masking his true feelings, which Pace failed to notice.

Seeing that Norman actually agreed, Pace became excited. "Good, good, good! Eee-hahaha! I'm off!"

Pace jumped onto his glider and flew away.

"Boss, he..." Norman cut off his subordinate with a wave of his hand before he could finish.

Norman asked, "What is the result of the data analysis?"

"It's complete," the subordinate replied, smiling.

It turned out that Norman had never intended to genuinely cooperate with Pace. Because Pace was compatible with the initial experiment, Norman used Pace's body to collect data needed to create a safer experimental subject—and now he had finally succeeded.

"Then he has served his purpose," Norman revealed a demonic smile.

The School

"Eee-hahaha! Students, I've come to bring you some warmth!" Pace flew into the school and threw a Pumpkin Bomb into one of the classrooms.

Boom!

The deafening sound of the bomb shocked every student in the school.

"Oh no!" Peter, having witnessed a Pumpkin Bomb explosion just yesterday, instantly guessed what was happening. He immediately grabbed his backpack and yelled, "Everyone run!"

"Hahaha, are you okay, Peter?" Flash Thompson was the first to mock him. In Flash's mind, it was just a loud noise from a construction site.

Just then, the school broadcast announced: "All teachers, please organize students to evacuate the school immediately. A dangerous intruder is on campus!"

"Ah!" The students erupted into chaos. The teachers couldn't control them. Peter used this moment to run towards the restroom.

"Peter, let's go!" Ned turned to call Peter but saw him already running away with his backpack, so he quickly followed.

Silas's class was also in disarray. Misty grabbed his hand and said, "Silas, let's hurry!"

"Okay!" Silas could only agree for the moment.

After running with Misty to the sports field, Silas saw that the area was relatively safe. He stopped and told Misty, "I still have something in the classroom. You can hide here and wait for me!"

Without waiting for Misty's reply, he dashed back toward the classroom building.

"Hey! Silas!" Misty paused for a moment, then remembering the last time Silas helped retrieve her grandmother's bracelet, she gritted her teeth and followed him.

After running around the corner, Silas quickly checked for people and cameras, then plunged into the shadows.

In the school hallways, Peter was already fighting Pace.

"Little bug! Don't run!" Pace, riding his glider, chased Peter down the corridor. Peter had intended to seriously deal with Pace this time, but the glider Pace was on today could now shoot bullets.

Tat-tat! Tat-tat! Tat-tat!

Pace controlled the glider underneath him to fire bullets at Peter.

Peter could only rely on the winding turns of the classrooms and hallways to dodge the projectiles.

Pace was gleefully chasing Peter when suddenly, a person dressed in black with eyes glowing gold appeared around the corner.

Pace instinctively felt something was wrong and jumped off his glider.

Boom!

Silas shot Laser Eyes from his gaze, cutting the flying vehicle cleanly in half.

To his surprise, the two halves of the glider kept flying until they crashed into the walls and exploded!

"That was close," Pace thought, realizing he had met his match. Without his glider, it seemed he couldn't run away.

Peter saw Silas appear and ran back, asking, "Seriously, man, are you a student here? Why do you show up so coincidentally?" Peter seriously suspected Silas was a student, otherwise, how could he arrive at the school as quickly as he did? The Lizard incident might have been a coincidence, but this was too fast again.

"Stay here," Silas ignored Peter's question, knowing the more he explained, the more flaws he would reveal.

Pace kept backing away, secretly activating his communicator. "Norman! What should I do?!"

"Don't worry, I have a plan. Charge at them and fight. The secret weapon will arrive shortly," Norman responded.

As soon as Pace heard "charge at them," he quickly asked, "Norman, are you sure about this?"

"Absolutely. The secret weapon is actually inside this Green Goblin armor, but it needs time to activate," Norman explained.

Pace was confused. "But do I have to run at them with my arms spread open? Plus, the black-clad guy's eyes can shoot lasers!"

"Don't worry! After the recent upgrade, the armor is indestructible!" Norman's firm tone gave Pace complete confidence.

"Alright! I trust you, Norman!" Pace indeed spread his arms and charged towards the classroom where Silas and Peter were hiding.

In the lab, Norman closed the communicator and whispered, "Idiot."

Silas and Peter looked up simultaneously and saw Pace charging at them with a massive, grinning face.

"What is going on?!" Silas and Peter wondered at the same time.
