Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Art is an Explosion

"Haha! Here I come, baby!" Pace shouted gleefully.

Silas and Peter looked at each other, sensing that the situation was very wrong!

The moment Pace got within five meters of Silas, Peter shot webs, binding Pace's limbs.

With his arms and legs tied, Pace instantly lost his balance and fell to the ground, sliding forward until he was only about a meter away from Peter.

"Norman! What should I do now?!" Pace struggled to break free, but the tensile strength of the webs was too much for him to tear apart.

"Are they right in front of you?" Norman asked.

Pace looked up at Peter. "Of course! They are right in front of me! They're about to step on my head!"

"Excellent. Goodbye then!" Norman said, and his voice cut off completely.

"Goodbye?! Hey! Hey!" Pace thrashed wildly on the ground. He realized that Norman had been deceiving him from the very beginning!

Peter walked up and knelt down in front of Pace. "Hey, hey, hey... Please, we're right here. I can hear you."

"Let me see who you are!" Peter was about to take off Pace's helmet when he heard a sound inside Pace's armor, like a bomb counting down.

Silas, who had been about to leave, was struck by the sound, which echoed like a death knell against his heart.

Beep... Beep-beep! Beep-beep-beep!

"Bad idea!" The hairs on both Silas and Peter's bodies suddenly stood on end.

Silas moved like a shot arrow, rushing behind Peter, grabbing his arm and shouting, "Run!"

"I..." Peter had just stood up when he heard a BOOM!

CRASH!

"Ah!"

At the same moment, students and teachers standing outside the school, about to evacuate, witnessed a massive explosion erupt from one of the classrooms. Everyone immediately covered their ears and crouched down.

Shrapnel from the blast struck several unfortunate people, and the entire building began to collapse with a terrifying rumbling sound.

The sound waves caused hearts to race and blood to flow faster. A constant ringing noise filled their ears. For those nearby, their vision was blurred, obscured by the shouts and confusion of everyone around them.

The collapsing building kicked up billows of thick smoke, scattering into the sky like a dust storm.

"Help me! Help me!"

"My leg!"

"I'm trapped!"

"Oh my god! Quick, help them!"

"Ambulance! Ambulance!"

Following the explosion, cries for help swept over the middle school. However, it is worth noting that a few students and teachers quickly regained their composure and began organizing rescue efforts.

"We're here! Don't panic!" A teacher named Klein organized people to start rescuing.

Klein turned and suddenly saw a student preparing to pull a victim buried in the debris. He shouted immediately: "Hey! Don't touch him!"

"Why, teacher! He's dying!" The student was confused.

Klein shouted back: "Everyone, save the less severely injured first! Do not move anyone who is buried! We are not professionals! Insisting on rescuing them carelessly could cause a secondary collapse!" This was Klein's biggest fear; without professional tools, touching the debris could easily lead to further collapse.

"Everyone, do as the teacher says!" Teacher Jedek also called out.

The students nodded and began helping the injured lying on the ground.

Wee-woo~ Wee-woo~ Wee-woo~ Wee-woo~

Police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks arrived at the scene simultaneously and began organizing the care of the victims.

"Faster! Faster!"

"I can't believe this!"

"Oh dear God!"

The sight shocked the rescue workers who arrived. What in the world had happened? Was this the end of the world?

But they quickly got to work. Medical personnel approached the students. "Kids, leave this to us. Go rest and check yourselves for any injuries!"

Seeing the professionals arrive, the students and teachers stopped their own efforts. They realized it was better to let the experts handle it to prevent further incidents.

"What exactly happened here?!" The Police Chief found Teacher Klein to get a statement.

"I... I'm not sure... I just saw a flying green monster causing trouble here, and then the explosion happened!" Klein's face was etched with pain. These were his students!

"It's alright, don't worry. They'll be fine," the Police Chief comforted him, then pointed to Klein's arm wound. "You need to get some rest!"

Klein had blood on his arm from a piece of glass that cut him while rescuing a child.

"I know. Please, I'm counting on you all!" Klein left to find medical personnel for bandaging.

"Quick! Here's a victim! The stretcher! Where's the stretcher!"

As the rescue continued, the police quickly set up a cordon to prevent crowds from entering and causing chaos.

Meanwhile, school leaders quickly ordered the teachers of every class to organize a roll call and account for missing students. This would help rescue personnel tally the casualties and allow the school to know who had not yet been rescued.

"Jeff Frank!"

"Here!"

"Selin Allen!"

"Here!"

Klein began calling the names of his class: "Silas Parker!"

"Silas Parker!" Klein called several times. Receiving no response, he reluctantly added Silas Parker to the missing report.

After writing it down, Klein called out, "Misty Baron!"

Again, there was no response. The hand Klein was writing with began to tremble. These were his students. May the Lord protect them!

On the other side, Jedek called out Peter Parker and Ned Leeds, both of whom were also unanswered.

After the roll call was finished, Klein approached Jedek.

"What's wrong?" Jedek asked, confused.

Klein tried to keep his voice calm. "Where is Peter Parker?"

"Why are you asking about Peter?" A sense of dread also settled in Jedek's heart.

"Silas and Peter are brothers. Silas is missing, and I need to tell him," Klein explained.

Jedek sighed and shook his head. "I'm sorry, Peter Parker is also missing."

"What?!" Klein exclaimed in shock.

"We need to notify the parents, so they can prepare themselves," Jedek said, patting Klein's shoulder.

"No... not yet," Klein refused.

Jedek's eyes widened. "Why?!"

"I know their family situation. I'm afraid they won't be able to handle it. Besides, the rescue is still ongoing; they might still be saved!" Klein knew about Silas's background. Silas and Klein had a good relationship, and Klein knew Silas was raised by his aunt and uncle, who never had children of their own because of the boys. If both young men were gone, he didn't know if the Parker family could bear the blow.

"You have to understand! If you don't report the situation immediately, and something goes wrong, you'll be held responsible!" As Klein's friend, Jedek felt obligated to warn him.
