Ethan;
I watch as he leaves, and my mind starts racing
I can't just let him walk away.
Not after all that's going on!!
I look back at Anu who is still talking behind me — with her voice sharp, as she's telling the man never to come near her again, while threatening consequences I'm not sure she's even thinking through.
I know I should save the man from her, but all I can focus on is Alpha Aurelian's back, and the two guards behind him.
It's really him.
He's almost out of sight now.
Not rushing. Not hiding. Just… leaving.
… Almost like he wanted to be seen.
That confuses me more.
"Anu, give me a moment," I say quickly over my shoulder, and she hums. She's barely paying attention to me.
Which causes me to sigh before moving.
I run. As fast as I can.
The gravel shifts under my shoes as I close the distance between us.
"Alpha Aurelian!" I call when I'm close enough, and he, as well as the guards, stop.
