By the last hour of my shift, I already know something is wrong.
There's this heat under my skin that curls around my bones and infuriates me. My back is throbbing with that dull, familiar ache that spreads and makes it hard to even stand straight.
My stomach feels heavy… like it's debating whether to cramp or just punish me slowly.
And my mood?
Let's just say if someone asks me one more stupid question, I will throw a book at them.
I know I'm stressed, but that doesn't explain the sudden shift. It's too… suddenly.
Without prior warnings, now I want to scream…cry… or just go home!
I'm shelving returned novels when shock and realisation hit me. Flowing out of me like a wave of warmth and betrayal.

I close my eyes briefly and exhale through my nose, as everything starts falling into place.
My period isn't supposed to be due for another week. Or maybe two... Or maybe it was due last week??
That's the problem with PCOS.
