"I don't need an escort to buy groceries," I state flatly, and he blinks at me. Amused by my attitude and mood, but he doesn't back off either.
"I'm not letting you walk around alone after someone chased you down six blocks." He notes, and my jaw tightens.
He's being logical... Sensible. And somehow that makes it more annoying.
"Zane—"I try to warn, but he cuts me off.

We stare at each other, neither wanting to give up, and just then, my lower abdomen cramps sharply, and that's the final straw.

I climb into the car, shutting it harder than necessary, and Zane just huffs.
The ride to the supermarket is quiet.
