Ethan;
We're still hugging when I realise how quiet the house has become.
It's not exactly… uncomfortable. It's just… empty. The kind of quiet that comes when something is about to end.
Something your heart earnestly wants to hold on to.
Anu's arms are tight around my torso, and her cheek is pressed against my chest like she's trying to leave her imprints on me. I don't mind, though. I hold her just as tightly, with my chin resting on the top of her head.
"I'm really going to miss you," she whispers, and I huff a soft laugh, even though my throat feels strangely tight.
"You're acting like you're moving to another continent." I joke despite the ache in my chest, and she pulls back to glare at me.
"Don't downplay it. The weekend is over. I won't be able to stay here after I leave." She scolds, and my gaze drops.
I know that.
Today is Monday.
Zane had said it casually, like it was nothing. He said Alpha Aurelian would not be around for the weekend… and Monday.
