As the car slows down, I feel my heart fall out of my chest and fly out the window.
I press myself further into the seat, silently wishing to vanish as I stare at the building outside my window. It looks… wrong.
Too quiet…. And shady looking…. Too far from anything familiar!

"Sir," I manage to squeak past my tightening throat, as the car's engine dies down.
"I—I don't think we're supposed to be here," I add as I look over at Alpha Aurelian, who's beside me.
He doesn't look at me when I speak. Instead, he has his gaze on his phone's screen.
He's calm behind the wheel, with one hand resting loosely against it, and his posture relaxed in a way that makes my fear feel irrational by comparison.
