Chapter 22 - A party of five.

"My Lord, do I have to wear something so embarrassing?"

Lyra cried out, making sure she was standing right next to Kai so he could see her the moment he turned his head in her direction.

And he did.

Turning to look at her, even before he uttered a single word, he made sure to scan her from head to toe, picking up on every single part of her.

Unlike the flashy red dress she had on before, she now wore a less noticeable outfit. It was a long, brown peasant dress that covered her entire legs, but the neckline was low, leaving her chest exposed with just enough space for her cleavage to breathe.

'What is she complaining about? If she were to follow me dressed in that royal attire, she would draw more attention than I would if I was in my monster form!'

Kai calmed down, shaking his head slightly.

"What is it? Do you not like the dress? You chose it."

Lyra seemed disgusted by the fit, so much so she had to use her fingers to spread the skirt for her Lord to see, holding the fabric as though it was a wet rag.

"I transformed my dress to this because you said I need to dress and fit in with the humans. I assumed this is how they all dressed."

"Yes, it is. You need not worry about your clothing. Your beauty makes up for whatever it lacks."

Just from hearing his response, Lyra immediately settled down. Her cheeks turned slightly red, though she tried her best to hide it as much as possible.

"Y-yes, my Lord."

Once he had noticed Lyra didn't seem like she wanted to complain about anything else, he turned his gaze away.

He looked towards the group of people gathering ahead. Some were adventurers, some merchants, and others were simply citizens looking to pass through the city gates.

While he wasn't sure how they got their hands on it, before anyone could walk through the gates, they would first need to show the guards a blue card. It was only then that they were allowed to walk right through.

'I am guessing that is supposed to be a gate fee. It's by group too. Meaning I just have to find a group to pair up with and I am good to go. Hmmm... but who do I—'

"Oi! What are you doing hiding all the way over there? Are you lost or something?"

"Eh?"

Both Kai and Lyra turned their gaze to the front, where they could see a group of four, looking at them from a not-too-far distance.

Two of the members were girls, and the remaining three were all boys.

Judging from how they were dressed, Kai could guess that they had to be some adventurers or something relating to that.

"Are you lost?" the girl at the back of the group asked, peeking from behind the tank.

Then another whisper followed, something Kai should not hear, but his enhanced stats allowed him to pick it up.

"Oh, they look like nobles. You think they are NPCs, too?"

'Oh, they are players too.'

Kai was dressed in black trousers and a white shirt that clung tight to his body—the same cloth he had on when he hopped on the game.

Since he was also standing at the side of the road with a beautiful woman in tow, it was no wonder they mistook him for being an NPC.

'This is as good a chance as any.'

He slowly began to walk towards the group, Lyra following strictly behind him, eyeing down the humans before her like they were prey.

Once Kai had gotten close enough, he faced the huge man before him. He looked like he was the leader of the group.

"Sorry, I kind of got lost since I am not from around here. I am from a very far distant land. I was just looking to get into the city."

He flashed them a smile.

The two girls at the back instantly blushed. They were not expecting that smile, and even if they did, nothing could have prepared them for the hit they received from it.

"Where did you say you were from again?" the leader asked.

"From far away," Kai replied back, keeping it vague.

Before anything else, he glanced to the side of the man's face, where he could now see the floating screen.

[Name: Alexandra Fortla]

[Class: Gunslinger]

[Level: 14]

[Guild: None]

[Party: The Greats]

'Oh, a Gunslinger? Wasn't that the class that dealt with using guns as their main weapon? This guy knows his stuff.'

Kai was impressed.

Then he turned to the girl just right next to Alex. She seemed to be staring at him the most, so he was rather curious to know more.

[Name: Sofia Dawnwell]

[Class: Second Caster]

[Level: 8]

[Guild: None]

[Party: The Greats]

'Second Caster? People that can cast buff magic on themselves and others. No way, someone actually chose that class? Hmm hmm, I like these people already.'

"Were you planning to enter the city without an entrance card?" asked the other male in the group, who had a bow strapped to his back.

'So that's what they call it.'

Kai fully faced him.

"I do not possess that card. Is that the only way I can get into the city?" He then looked towards the gate. "If so, then how do I get some for myself and my friend here?"

They all looked at Lyra.

Oh, how she tried so very hard not to hiss at them.

She bowed her head slightly and then looked away, unable to meet the gaze of such lowly creatures.

"If you don't have an entrance card, then you can buy one from the guards over there. It's just 140 Cens."

Kai paused.

'140 Cens? Is that the currency of the game? Damn, I was stuck in the dungeon for so long, I barely remembered people actually bought stuff. I just kept devouring players like an animal.'

He didn't have a single coin on him.

"My Lord does not have these Cens you are speaking about," Lyra chimed in, stepping forward with an air of absolute authority. "Would you mind lending some to him?"

'What the fuck is she doing?!!!'
