Chapter 92 - Chapter 93: Unconventional Fighter Formation

"Haro! Haro!"

The Haro swung its ear-like mechanical structures, emitting repetitive mechanical sounds. Listening to the Haro's voice, Lacus smiled slightly. Looking up ahead, she silently prayed for the ZAFT warriors deployed in battle.

In the sky above, a flight formation composed of five Mobile Suit Teams led by Felix flew forward at high speed.

Inside the Dawn's cockpit, Felix watched these DINNs through the screen and sighed inwardly.

'The production speed is really fast!'

"How do these DINNs handle?"

While marveling, Felix pressed the communicator, transmitting the message with a smile.

Almost immediately after he finished speaking, a reply came through the comms.

"They're quite good to use, though the armor is a bit thin."

——

Nodding, Felix wasn't surprised about the thin armor, as the DINN's weight clearly indicated it couldn't have particularly heavy armor.

Watching the changing situations on the screen, Felix continued asking.

"Has mobility been affected?"

"Not at all! Compared to non-air-combat specialized MS using Guuru, mobility has actually improved. They move more flexibly."

"That's good."

Learning that mobility wasn't compromised, Felix nodded in relief, ended the communication, and didn't inquire further.

He focused all his attention on the flight ahead.

"Captain Barthfeld, is everything alright with your team?"

After flying into the airspace above Barthfeld's team location, Felix opened communications to ask Andrew.

As soon as he finished speaking, Andrew's voice came through the comms.

"We're fine, but you need to be extra careful."

"Don't worry, we'll be cautious."

Nodding in response, Felix ended the communication with Andrew and continued piloting the Dawn forward.

"All units, prepare for combat!"

Watching the information feedback from the laser radar, Felix's expression turned stern as he issued the command seriously.

As the order was given, Felix's finger pulled the trigger.

The Heavy Assault Machine Gun in the Dawn's hands opened fire.

Muzzle flash erupted as a bullet left the chamber.

After traveling some distance, the bullet accurately struck a missile ahead, with explosion flames soaring into the air—the massive fireball clearly visible on the screen.

Boom!

Boom! Boom!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The moment other ZAFT Forces MS opened fire, successive explosions occurred in the forward airspace. The flames from the explosions formed what looked like a wall of fire blocking the airspace ahead.

Felix watched the fire wall, his finger resting on the firing trigger.

Within just one or two seconds, dozens of Vanguard Fighters broke through the fire wall. Firing continuously without reducing speed, they charged straight toward the ZAFT Forces formation.

Felix's finger on the trigger squeezed.

The Heavy Assault Machine Gun in the Dawn's hands fired.

Bullets continuously erupted from the muzzle.

While firing, Felix continuously manipulated the controls, and Dawn responded to his inputs, maneuvering through the air.

He evaded every incoming attack.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Three explosions erupted ahead.

Ignoring the blasts, Felix continued piloting Dawn while maintaining fire.

Under the barrage, a flicker of surprise crossed Felix's eyes as the screen displayed twenty to thirty fighters completely different in design from the other Vanguard Fighters.

Not only were these new fighters distinct in form, but their speed and mobility far surpassed that of the standard Vanguard Fighters.

"New equipment?"

Muttering to himself, Felix worked the controls.

Dawn dodged the assaults from these new-model fighters.

Raising the Heavy Assault Machine Gun, he aimed at one of the new fighters ahead and opened fire.

Bullets shot from the barrel.

The new fighter in his sights executed an extreme maneuver, evading the rounds fired by Dawn.

Watching it dodge like that, Felix frowned slightly.

"The G-forces from a maneuver like that… it doesn't seem like something a Natural could withstand."

As he spoke, Felix adjusted the controls.

Dawn weaved through the air, avoiding bullets fired from multiple directions.

"Could it be a Bio-CPU?"

Having dodged the attacks, Felix voiced his suspicion.

But even as he speculated, it felt unlikely. After all, in the series, Bio-CPUs didn't appear until the latter half of C.E. 71, and it was only the second half of C.E. 70 now.

That was nearly a year too early!

It just didn't seem plausible for it to be a Bio-CPU.

"Damn it! Why can't I hit him!"

A pilot in one of the new fighters, having failed repeatedly to strike Dawn, lost his composure and roared inside the cockpit.

Still yelling, he gripped the control stick and pushed the throttle forward, increasing the fighter's speed.

The thrust surged, and the fighter instantly accelerated.

In an extremely short time, it broke the sound barrier, charging toward Dawn at supersonic speed.

"Damn it! Don't act on your own!"

An angry reprimand echoed through the cockpit.

——

The scolding failed to calm him down. The pilot, eyes bloodshot and frenzied, continued rushing toward Dawn.

Seeing that he couldn't be stopped, the new fighter squadron leader barked an order to the others.

"Everyone, open fire on this MS in formation!"

Following the command, the leader, Maloney, took the lead, piloting his fighter to fire at Felix.

Inside Dawn's cockpit, Felix watched on the screen as the reckless fighter charged toward him, while attacks came from all directions.

His hands moved over the controls.

Dawn disengaged the locking mechanism with the Guuru beneath it.

Propelled by the thrusters on its back, Dawn leaped upward from the Guuru.

The attitude adjustment thrusters kicked in at that moment.

The thrust from the nozzles allowed Dawn to perform continuous maneuvers in the air.

Each movement evaded the incoming fire.

While dodging, Felix kept his attention on the fighter charging recklessly toward him.

Dawn maneuvered in the air, its back thrusters reducing output, causing it to drop at an extremely critical angle.

As it descended, Dawn's other hand drew the Heavy Sword from its waist and swung it hard, cleaving the new fighter in two. The high-speed impact, combined with the force of the swing, instantly split the fighter in half mid-air.

Take this guy down. Felix controlled Dawn to hurl the Heavy Sword in its hand forward.

The Heavy Sword shot straight toward a new-model fighter jet.

Seeing the rapidly approaching Heavy Sword, the pilot made maneuvers in an attempt to dodge it.

Just as the evasion began, bullets fired from Dawn's Heavy Assault Machine Gun destroyed the propulsion system on the left side of the fighter's fuselage.

The fighter's power plummeted!

Before the pilot could attempt any remedial measures, another attack came from a different direction.

Boom!

An explosion echoed through the air.

The pilot was instantly killed in the blast.

Seeing the kill stolen, Felix smiled faintly and continued controlling Dawn to attack.

Under Felix's powerful mental calculations, the fired bullets headed straight for the flight trajectory of the new-model fighter ahead.
