"What kind of weapons and equipment are these Coordinators using? They've managed to shut down our reactors and jam our radar systems until they're completely unusable!" The Captain seated in the command chair muttered with a grave expression. After speaking these words, he continued directing his troops with a heavy heart.
Meanwhile, at the Yggdrasil Cosmic International Space Station...
The Commander stationed here clenched his fists tightly as he listened to the Communications Officer's repeated attempts to establish contact. "What's happening? Why can't we reach our troops?" After voicing his frustration, he turned to the Communications Officer and asked, "Have you managed to contact any units on the front lines?"
"Commander, we still haven't been able to establish communication with them," the Communications Officer reported.
Learning that communications remained impossible, the Commander let out a heavy sigh. "Dispatch Mobius units equipped with wired communication systems to establish contact with those battleships. Have them report the situation immediately."
"Yes, Commander!" The Communications Officer acknowledged before relaying the orders.
On the front lines...
Felix skillfully maneuvered the white GINN, evading bullets fired from approaching Mobius units before raising his weapon to aim through optical targeting. His finger paused on the trigger as he calculated trajectories.
Two rounds erupted from the Heavy Assault Machine Gun's barrel, their paths cutting through the darkness of space before striking a Mobius unit. Urgent alarms blared in the cockpit, but the pilot had no time to comprehend the situation before the Mobius exploded, consuming the pilot in the blast.
After destroying the enemy unit, Felix piloted the white GINN toward other targets, firing at additional Mobius units. In less than a minute, dozens of rounds had been fired, disabling nearly twenty Mobius units under the relentless assault.
The white GINN spun around, its Heavy Assault Machine Gun firing again. A bullet pierced through another passing Mobius before the mobile suit advanced forward, heading straight for a Drake-class Battleship ahead.
Due to radar malfunctions, the Drake-class Battleship couldn't detect approaching enemies at long range. By the time optical sensors transmitted clear images, Felix had already piloted the white GINN to dangerously close proximity.
"Captain! An MS is rapidly approaching us!"
"Open fire! Execute evasive maneuvers!" the Captain ordered urgently.
The Tactical Commander reported, "Captain, our radar is completely nonfunctional. Missiles are inoperable, and both Beam Cannons and Electromagnetic Railguns cannot achieve proper targeting."
"Switch Beam Cannons and Electromagnetic Railguns to manual targeting and firing," the Captain commanded.
Upon receiving the order, the Tactical Commander quickly adjusted tactics, and the battleship's Beam Cannons and Electromagnetic Railguns opened fire under manual control.
Beams and electromagnetic shells hurtled towards the white GINN.
Felix observed these attacks and maneuvered the white GINN through space, evading them effortlessly.
The beam cannons and electromagnetic railguns, manually controlled, tracked the GINN's movements. Yet, under the white GINN's rapid maneuvers, all these attacks proved futile.
Not only did they fail to intercept, but they also drained the battleships' energy reserves significantly.
The white GINN swiftly closed in on the battleship at close range. The ship's close-in weapon systems, rendered useless by radar failure, lost all defensive capability.
The turrets rotated and fired, but they couldn't accurately target the white GINN.
"Like lambs to the slaughter!"
Watching the battleship's helpless state, Felix snorted coldly.
He then charged toward the bridge of the Drake-class battleship, aiming his gun and opening fire.
The bullets instantly pierced through the bridge, completely destroying the ship's command system. After shattering the command system, Felix advanced toward other enemies.
Along the way, he fired at two Mobius units, piercing through them with his shots.
After destroying them, he dashed toward the next Drake-class battleship.
Dodging its ineffective defensive attacks, he rushed to the bridge and fired the heavy assault machine gun directly at it.
"Ah!"
A terrified scream erupted from the personnel inside the bridge.
In an instant, everyone perished in the explosion, lost to the void of space.
After obliterating this battleship's command system, Felix piloted the white GINN to continue thrusting forward in other directions.
At the Yggdrasil International Space Station
"Commander-in-Chief, the ZAFT Forces are using a new type of weapon system. It has rendered all our nuclear warheads useless and even affected the nuclear fission reactors on our battleships, preventing them from operating.
Additionally, radar and communications for all units in the engagement zone have almost completely failed."
The Commander in charge of the Yggdrasil defense operation reported the current situation to the Commander-in-Chief.
At Earth Alliance Forces Headquarters
Upon hearing this report, the Commander-in-Chief's expression turned grave, and he asked in a low voice, "Have we identified what new equipment ZAFT is using?"
"No, the ZAFT Forces came prepared. We have no way of determining what new equipment they've deployed."
Shaking his head, the reply carried a tone of helplessness.
After a moment of thought, the Commander-in-Chief asked, "What is your assessment?"
"My recommendation is to withdraw from the vicinity of Yggdrasil and avoid further engagement with the ZAFT Forces."
"Are you suggesting we hand over Yggdrasil? Have you considered how severely our route to the Moon would be impacted if we relinquish Yggdrasil?"
The Commander-in-Chief's face darkened, his voice tinged with accusation. The battle Commander responded via communication,
"Of course, we cannot simply hand over Yggdrasil. If we cannot hold it, we must not allow these Coordinators to capture it.
My plan is to fight a delaying retreat and, if necessary, destroy Yggdrasil outright.
We must prevent these Coordinators from seizing Yggdrasil!"
"You handle the specific arrangements. I have only one requirement: PLANT must not obtain Yggdrasil, not even a damaged one. Do you understand?"
After hearing his thoughts, the Commander asked no further questions but instead stated with absolute firmness what must be accomplished.
"Commander, rest assured—the mission will be completed!"
Sitting upright, the Commander of this campaign responded in a resounding voice.
The Commander nodded upon hearing this and ended the communication.
