Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

On the river bank of Magnolia, Felix sat there in silence watching the water. His head on his knees as he felt ashamed of himself. Granted, nothing too shameful, but attacking his guild mate like that is unacceptable. This isn't the harsh training camp of Roland where fights need to end in death or severe reprimand and beatings.

Still, that is what he had done and now feels bad for it. This feeling only increased when they accepted his apology so quickly. It made him feel like he was threatening them to accept it or risk being killed.

'Maybe this is my fate as a monster.' Felix thought to himself.

The thought of having friends seemed so foreign and feels he doesn't deserve such friends anymore. Face after face appeared in his mind from the number of lives that he had taken or indirectly taken. Many were children with many cursing him as if blaming him for living while they were dead.

In a daze, Felix sat there as the sun began to set. This daze lasted until he suddenly heard footsteps before someone appeared beside him. Dressed in black shorts that showed off most of her young legs, a black top that showed off her midriff and growing womanly assets. Felix soon saw the sun reflecting off her white hair as she took a seat next to him.

"How long are you going to sit here moping like a loser? The others aren't mad nor holding a grudge about what happened." Mirajane asked.

Felix sat there for a long minute thinking how to reply. He had many words that wanted to escape, but forced himself not to say them. Instead he asked his own question.

"Why would they forgive a monster?"

Mirajane blue eyes scanned him up and down as if looking for this monster he has mentioned. From her expression, she doesn't see this so-called monster he is talking about.

"I don't think a monster will mope for so long." Mirajane said bluntly.

Felix's eyes shifted over to her as her bluntness punched away his feelings. He didn't know how or why it did, but it did. It lasted but a fleeting moment, but for that one moment, he felt a little less like a monster.

"In Fairy Tail, many of us have tragic histories, some are out in the open while others we keep tucked away within. So get off your high horse and come back to the guild. Just because you beat up a few weaklings and feel bad about it doesn't make you a monster." Mirajane explained.

He didn't move right away. Felix felt a bit lost at the mixture of her blunt but caring words. In her words, he was less of a monster and just another member with a tragic background.

Standing up, Mirajane seemed to wear an arrogant and proud smile at seeing this. When Felix offered her a hand to get up, she went to grab his hand. However, for some reason, feeling that this proud girl needed to calm down, he spun and tossed her into the river below.

Laughing as Mirajane swam to the surface and spitting out water, her blue eyes narrowed. A dark aura seemed to radiate from her as he felt her magic pressure she released. So, he released a bit of his own. This is a trick Makarov taught him and completely overwhelmed her.

His own magic power isn't low nor are of those who hold an Alpha Stigma magic power low. This is also why a holder of an Alpha Stigma is so dangerous even without the ability to analyze and copy. They hold a vast reserve of magic that grows as they get older.

It is also thanks to this that when a rampage happens it is always so terrifying. This immense power is capable of destroying armies and using magics other mages might struggle to release once like it was a simple spell.

"Why did you do that?" Mirajane growled.

"Cooling off someone's arrogance." Felix said.

"I am going to beat you up." Mirajane launched out of the river.

Raising his fist, he met her head on as she went into a fury of strikes. One clash after the other, Felix blocked most of her strikes and landed a few blows on her in a counter. However, this time he was able to restrain himself from striking the vitals out of instinct.

"Let me hit you." Mirajane shouted.

When she cocked her fist back, Felix used the moment to sweep her feet out from under her. Thus knocking her to the ground once more and this time ending the fight. Which losing seemed to knock the wind out of her sail as she stared blankly towards the sky. It seemed like she felt like it was impossible for her to lose, yet she lost the fight.

"Are you ok?" Felix asked.

Upon seeing that Mirajane was left stunned, Felix felt she was being a bit dramatic. She just lost the fight and it's not like she is going to be beaten or killed because she lost the fight to him. Not anymore at least.

"How do I wake her up?" Felix mumbled to himself.

After thinking long and hard, he could just dunk her into the river again or just wait for her to recover from this blow to her ego. Either option would work, but seeing her pretty and maturing features, Felix had an impulse idea and decided to act on it.

He leaned down and gave her a small kiss on the cheek. Maybe this small kiss will help her recover sooner. However, Felix suddenly felt a large force as he was shoved aside and Mirajane ran away.

The next day, Felix returned to the guild and once more apologized to Natsu and Gray. Both just waved it off since neither took his actions to mind. Only asked him to be careful in the future.

After his apology, he saw Mirajane who blushed at meeting his eyes. This seemed to set her off and she began to brawl with Erza more out of embarrassment than actually wanting to fight. Which earned a few strange stares as there was no usual lead up to their brawl.

Dodging a flying chair, Felix took his usual seat at the counter. He asked for a sandwich as the guild menu is cheaper than most places outside. The food also isn't bad either for the price or even below price for some items on the menu.

While waiting for his sandwich, he began to think about what to do. His little funds won't last long and he still needed some to travel. So, he felt it was time to take on another mission.

Going over to the mission board where the resident Nab was standing looking for a job. Nab is a tall teenager who is actually only a year older than him. At fourteen, Nab towered over others his age and even few adults in the guild and had well defined muscles.

Due to relentless training he has sun tan skin and dresses in a tribal fashion. At first, Felix thought he did come from a tribe, but it turns out he just likes this fashion theme. Luckily, it doesn't seem like he is the only one that made that conclusion.

"Have you found a job only you can do?" Felix asked.

"No." Nab shook his head.

Felix looked at the board before finding a mission that didn't sound too bad. It seems that a beast called Graboids appeared and needed to be eliminated before they entered their next stage. Otherwise, if they continue to multiply it will wreck the ecosystem as these beasts eat anything that moves.

"Do you want to take this job with me? The reward is quite high at 200,000 jewels." Felix asked politely.

"No, I prefer going solo." Nab rejected.

Felix didn't feel too let down about this answer. Even if he was here a few days, he saw a few invite Nab but all received the same answer. So he went over to Makarov to formally accept the mission.

"Are you sure? This mission can be quite dangerous." Makarov advised.

"I am sure." Felix nodded.

"Alright, be careful and don't get eaten." Makarov nodded as he marked it.

"I will be," Felix said as he turned and left.
