The next day Dan walks through the school getting stares from students as always, something completely normal by now.
While walking to his classroom he was thinking about how to win Naomi over: Should I talk to her and then ask her out? No no, that would be too bold and rushed.
Noemi was sitting in her seat, studying as always and next to her was her friend Sofia.
She looked away towards the hallway window just as Dan was passing by there.
Noemi hid her face with her book, she was nervous about what happened yesterday, she didn't even know how to look at him after that.
Dan arrived at his classroom and his group of friends were already waiting for him. He went in and approached the circle they had formed with the desks.
- Hi Dan- Jonathan said.
Dan sat at his desk and left his backpack on the floor.
- Hi.
Josías leaned slightly towards him.
- Well, now tell us your Plan.
- Plan? For what?.
- What do you mean for what? To win Noemi over and make sure she doesn't run away from you again.
His three friends let out small laughs as they remembered what happened yesterday.
- You jerks. Just so you know I already have a great plan.
(Lie, he doesn't have any plan).
- Really? And what is it?- Brandon asked.
- Uh... Obviously I'm not going to tell you but it's a 100% effective plan.
Josías narrowed his eyes.
- Mmm... Well good luck.
The teacher enters the classroom and the three go back to their seats to start class. Dan was thinking of a way to talk to Noemi.
In Naomi's classroom, Sofia leaned towards her.
- Naomi, I heard a rumor that Dan came up to talk to you and you ran off. Is it true?.
Noemi jumps at her friend's question.
- Yes... But it's not that I didn't want to talk to him, I just got nervous, he'd never talked to me before.- She says shyly hiding her face in her book again.
- Why did that have to happen the day I wasn't at school? What bad luck. But why did he talk to you, what did he need from you?
- I don't know, he just said hello and I left. I didn't hear anything else.
- Mmm... Who knows, maybe he likes you.
- What?! No, that's impossible! I... I'm not good enough for him to like me.
- You think so?- Sofia rested her elbow on the desk and her cheek in her hand- You're just a bit shy but you're beautiful.
Noemi blushed at her friend's words but the idea that Dan could be in love with her didn't seem real to her.
In English class, the teacher asked Noemi to go to the library for some dictionaries. She nodded her head and left the classroom.
In Dan's classroom it was philosophy class, he asked permission to go to the bathroom and left the room.
Dan went into the bathroom and after coming out he saw Naomi in the hallway carrying a pile of dictionaries.
He was quickly thinking of how to approach her without scaring her: What if I put my foot out so she trips and falls, then help her pick up the books, wouldn't that be romantic? Dan shakes his head as he realizes it's a terrible idea.
In the end Dan chooses the simplest option of approaching and helping her carry the dictionaries.
- Hi. Do you need help?- Dan asked with a smile.
Noemi was surprised to hear his voice, she got nervous and accidentally tripped over her own foot and fell to the floor.
He said to himself: Well it happened naturally, I didn't have to interfere.
Dan helped her get up
- Are you okay?.
- Yes...- Noemi answers as she gets up off the floor.
Dan picks up all the dictionaries to help her.
- I'm glad, you have to be more careful. If anything hurts go to the nurse's office.
- Don't worry, I'm fine.
- Dictionaries are heavy, don't worry I'll help you carry them.
Naomi opens her eyes in surprise and in a low soft voice whispers.
- T-thank... Thank you very much...-
The two reach the door of Noemi's classroom, Dan hands her the dictionaries.
- Here you go, good luck.
- Thank you so much for helping me bring them, really.
- Don't worry, it was nothing.
- And also... I want to apologize to you.
Suddenly Sofia was behind her.
- Noemi.
She lets out a small scream almost dropping the books again.
- What were you two talking about?- She asked with a mischievous smile.
- Nothing, I just helped her bring the dictionaries.
Sofia helped Noemi with the dictionaries and took her by the hand.
- Oh, I see thank you so much for helping Naomi, we really appreciate it Dan. Well see you later.- The two went into the classroom and closed the door.
Dan looks confused at the door but then sighs and walks away.
Sofia puts the dictionaries on the table and the two go back to their seats.
Sofia leaned towards her and whispered.
- Noemi, are you sure you weren't talking about anything?.
She blushed but shook her head, Sofia rolled her eyes but stopped asking.
The day went on normally.
