Chapter 28 - Inherent Illusion

In a dimly lit underground base, various glass containers emitted a faint blue glow.

Orochimaru was fiddling with the machine in front of him, his face filled with concentration.

Standing behind him was his ally, Shimura Danzō.

Danzo slowly wrapped a bandage around one eye, and said slowly:

"What you said makes a lot of sense. Although I obtained the forbidden technique of the Uchiha clan, the Sharingan has become a consumable. We need to find a way to obtain more Sharingan."

"That's your own business."

Orochimaru wiped the blood off his hands indifferently, and after thinking for a moment, he continued:

"I have my eye on a young girl from the Uchiha clan, named Uchiha Naraku. I want her to live for now, at least until my forbidden technique is developed."

Hearing Orochimaru's words, Danzo raised an eyebrow, seemingly thinking of something.

He suddenly asked, "When did you come into contact with Uchiha Naraku? She's just an orphan from the Uchiha clan."

"Just a chance encounter."

Orochimaru's lips curled slightly. Oh, right, I also took care of one of your subordinates that time, so I can't tell you.

"Is that so? Then I'll be going, Orochimaru."

[The system has improved your Shadow Clone Technique.]

[Ninjutsu Level: B-Rank]

[This skill will produce more effects as proficiency increases.]

[Proficient: Your Shadow Clones will gain an additional 100 points of chakra and receive greater resistance to damage.]

[Master: Your Shadow Clones will be granted three attribute enhancements, and when the clones are killed, they will trigger an attribute explosion.]

[Fire Attribute Clone: Fire attribute explosion. Summoning probability 70%]

[Lightning Attribute Clone: Lightning frenzy, paralyzing enemies within a certain range. Summoning probability 25%]

[Space Attribute Clone: Will transform into a large pool of water (lasting 1 minute). Enemies within the pool will be pulled into a specific alternate space. Summoning probability 5%]

[Peerless: You have only three Shadow Clones, and your clones will descend upon the ninja world through summoning. They will revive in an alternate space 2 minutes after being killed.]

[This technique will no longer consume chakra, and for each clone that appears, you will recover the same amount of chakra that the clone possesses.]

[The three clones are: Naraku a, a Fire-Style clone; Naraku b, a Lightning-Style clone; and Naraku c, a Space-Style clone.]

[Each clone will gain a unique skill related to its attribute.]

Uchiha Naraku was lying on his pristine white bed, completely bewildered.

This Shadow Clone Technique of mine is quite powerful. Especially after reaching the mastery level of "Profound," it was simply terrifying.

The essence of the Shadow Clone Technique was to evenly distribute chakra to the clones, which would waste a significant amount of chakra. However, once his Shadow Clone Technique reached the Profound proficiency level…

It was completely different. Not only did this skill not consume chakra, but it would also turn him into a true perpetual motion machine.

Summoning a clone would restore chakra. The clones would resurrect after dying, and then he could summon them again. Wasn't this a perpetual motion machine?

As for going to the Land of Wind, Naraku thought about it for a long time, and finally decided that the timing wasn't right yet.

The mission deadline was 10 months, so there was no need to rush. At his current level, he was, at best, a Special Jonin.

Even if he encountered an enemy team within the Land of Fire, he might not be able to handle it. Therefore, he needed to be more cautious for now.

He also needed to avoid the eyes and ears of the Anbu, so he still needed some time to prepare.

So, even if the mission rewards were tempting, he couldn't let it cloud his judgment.

In the time to come, he should quickly improve the proficiency of his existing skills, especially the Teleportation Technique, Shadow Clone Technique, and the Summoning Card: Sea Wyvern.

These all needed to be prioritized. Then there was his chakra reserves; he couldn't keep running out of chakra after just a couple of jutsu.

Anyway, his path to becoming stronger was still long and arduous.

...

Naraku constantly honed the proficiency of his various skills, unable to tear himself away from the thrill of drawing cards.

Time flew by.

In the blink of an eye, five months had passed.

Naraku stood in a vast, open training ground.

He made a cut across his finger with a kunai, then quickly formed hand seals:

"Summoning Technique!"

After a cloud of thick white smoke, an eight-meter-long giant dragon appeared in the training ground.

After this period of training, Naraku could now control water energy with ease.

The awkward situation of self-healing that he had experienced before would never happen again.

When the Summoning Card: Sea Wyvern's proficiency increased to the Master level, the Sea Wyvern finally transformed into a very cool Sea Wyvern.

And Naraku's water energy limit had also increased to as much as 1000 points.

Naraku nodded in satisfaction, then lay on the Wyvern's back and began to check his brand new attribute panel.

[Character Card: Uchiha Naraku] [Character Management—Not Enabled] [Character Attributes are as follows]

Chakra: 310 (Jonin)

Taijutsu: 210 (Special Jonin)

Speed: 240 (Special Jonin)

Genjutsu: 150 (Special Jonin)

Skills: Three Body Technique (Master), Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique (Proficient), Battlefield Passion (Master), Intimidation (Master), Calculated Punch (Master), Head Cracker (Master), Teleportation (Beginner), Fire Style: Great Dragon Flame Technique (Transcendent), Summoning Technique: Sea Wyvern (Proficient), Shadow Clone Technique (Proficient), Inherent Illusion (Skilled).

Currency: 60 points.

Naraku's luck had been truly terrible these past few months. He'd pulled a lot of cards, but the frustrating thing was...

Most of the card rewards were attribute bonuses that weren't very useful. Naraku had even drawn a card that rewarded him with a single point of Genjutsu, which was just embarrassing.

Finally, a month ago, Naraku's luck exploded, and he drew a very practical skill card - Inherent Illusion.

This skill came from the League of Legends character, Neeko, the Curious Chameleon.

[Inherent Illusion] [Proficient Skill Effect: You can freely simulate the appearance of a person you have seen. In this state, you cannot be detected by any means. However, when you are attacked or attack others, the Inherent Illusion effect will be release.]

Although this skill was only equivalent to a perfect Transformation Technique.

But for Naraku, this skill was still very practical.

Ever since he obtained the Inherent Illusion skill, no one could track Naraku's whereabouts.

Just then, Naraku's expression suddenly tightened, and he looked towards a certain direction in the east.

Since the Sea Wyvern had grown, his perception abilities had also greatly improved.

Now, any movement within a hundred meters of the Sea Wyvern couldn't escape Naraku's senses.

So just now.

Naraku clearly sensed a battle happening in the forest a hundred meters to the east.

Among them was someone Naraku knew very well, that was—Hatake Kakashi, the cat-faced Anbu!
