Chapter 33 - Nightmare

Thinking about it, Uchiha Naraku glanced at Uchiha Itachi beside him.

Itachi was currently lowering his head, and Naraku couldn't see his expression. But judging by his tense body, it was clear that he wasn't calm inside.

This kid really knows how to endure. Counting it up, he and Itachi had known each other for about half a year, right?

But he had never mentioned a single word about the Uchiha Clan and the village to him.

How should he put it? Truly worthy of being a man who could deceive his younger brother for so many years, huh?

"Enough, Hachidai, the new generation of the Uchiha Clan is listening in the back. Watch what you say."

Fugaku sighed. More and more people in the clan were dissatisfied with Konoha. Even if he was the clan head, he couldn't change the will of the clan.

He did want to be Hokage, it wasn't strange. The Uchiha Clan almost dreamed of having a Hokage from their ranks.

But, he understood even more clearly that Konoha couldn't afford any slip-ups, at least not at this critical juncture.

If the Uchiha Clan and Konoha started a conflict at this time, perhaps Sunagakure, Iwagakure, and Kirigakure would all get involved in the war.

The Fourth Shinobi World War would be a minor issue. If Konoha or the Uchiha Clan were destroyed because of this, he, Uchiha Fugaku, would be a sinner to the clan and even to all of Konoha.

"Captain..."

Uchiha Inabi wanted to say something more, but Uchiha Fugaku cut him off directly.

"Alright, Inabi, let's end this topic here. I will do my best to communicate with the village. Let's move on to the next topic."

The clan meeting ended quickly. Groups of Uchiha clan members walked out of the Naka Shrine together. Naraku and Itachi walked side by side on the steps outside the shrine.

Walking ahead of the two of them were Uchiha So and several young men from the clan.

At this moment, Uchiha So was tirelessly badmouthing Konoha to the young Uchiha men beside him.

He was going on about how unfair it was to the clan, and how they should rise up and rebel.

The several young men listening were also filled with indignation, cursing the Konoha elders for being worthless.

Naraku, listening to the old man's reckless talk behind them, couldn't help but twitch his lips.

This old man is really something...

What's the deal? Is he afraid the Uchiha Clan will survive?

Bitching endlessly in front of Itachi, if you're tired of living, I'll get rid of you in a couple of days. Don't drag me down with you!

Thinking of this, Uchiha Naraku turned his head and looked at Uchiha Itachi.

Sure enough, Itachi was staring intently at Uchiha So.

He had a look on his face as if he had already despaired of the Uchiha Clan.

As expected…

Naraku sighed. It seemed he still had a long way to go.

"Naraku, I'm going back. You should go back and get some rest too."

Itachi smiled. At this moment, Naraku couldn't see any of the fluctuations in Itachi's heart.

"You too, Itachi-kun. Get some rest."

...

"Raikiri!"

Kakashi formed hand seals, lightning crackling in his hands, and shot towards the last enemy.

He was too fast. Despair flashed in the enemy's eyes.

But at that moment, a girl suddenly darted out from the shadows beside them, placing herself in front of the enemy.

Blood splattered as Kakashi's Raikiri pierced the girl's chest.

The girl's pained expression seemed to blame herself, her lips moving continuously.

As if she was saying:

"Kakashi, Kakashi, why did you kill me with your own hands?"

Kakashi looked at everything in despair, his whole body trembling. How could this be? His own hands were stained with Rin's blood!

Yes, yes, he had killed her with his own hands!

But just then, the misty background quickly faded away.

He was stunned to find himself in the training ground beside the Forest of Death.

His outstretched right hand hadn't pierced Rin's chest either, but was being gently supported by a girl.

Green light flickered in the girl's hands, and she was actually healing the wound on his shoulder.

"It's all over, Kakashi. You're fine now."

The girl's gentle voice sounded in his ear, and Kakashi quickly turned his head to look at her face.

But to Kakashi's surprise, the girl's face seemed to be shrouded in a mist, and he couldn't see it clearly.

He could only see that the girl's smile was so beautiful, so warm.

Just like Rin!

"Well then, I'll be going now. You must take good care of yourself, Kakashi."

The girl let go of Kakashi's arm and slowly walked into the woods, disappearing from sight.

Kakashi himself didn't know why, but he couldn't move his body and could only reach out and shout:

"Rin!"

Kakashi sat up instantly, realizing that everything that had just happened was just a dream.

After washing his hands, Kakashi still looked listless as he walked down the street.

It was the same route every day, passing by the Dango Shop, and heading towards the Memorial Stone.

"Yo, Kakashi, let's have a fated duel!"

Guy had probably just eaten dango and jumped out of the shop, shouting at Kakashi on the street.

However, the current "50-50" classmate (Kakashi's nickname) still looked withdrawn and hadn't heard Guy at all.

He just moved forward like a machine, in the direction he had set before.

Kakashi is still wallowing in grief over losing his comrades. Today, I will definitely pull him out of his sadness, using my hot-blooded spirit!

Thinking this, Guy stealthily followed Kakashi.

The two soon arrived at a sparsely populated area. Guy suddenly jumped out from the shadows, intending to scare Kakashi.

However, his movements had already been exposed. Kakashi instantly subdued Guy.

"Hey, hey, Kakashi, it's me, Guy!"

Guy was truly startled, seeing Kakashi's kunai pressed against his throat.

"Do you need something?"

Kakashi's eyes were like stagnant water, devoid of any light. When he saw it was Guy, he put away his kunai.

"Come on, Kakashi, let's have a fated showdown! It's been ages since we last sparred, hasn't it?"

Guy shouted excitedly.

"No interest. Find someone else."

However, the aloof Kakashi walked away silently, leaving Guy speechless.

Failed again? I really want to find someone to have a passionate battle with!

What a pity.

Just as Guy was feeling dejected, he noticed the large tree in the distance shaking violently.

"Eh? Is someone practicing taijutsu over there? Maybe I should go take a look?"

Guy chuckled excitedly twice and quickly ran towards the direction where the large tree had just trembled.

When he arrived at the small grove, he saw a six or seven-year-old girl practicing taijutsu.

Several large trees were knocked down by the girl with a thud, thud, thud.

(Is this really a six or seven-year-old girl? Could she be some kind of monster? But what does it matter? Let's have a fated, hot-blooded showdown!)

Thinking this, Guy jumped down from a tree with a whoosh, then extended his thumb, revealing his gleaming teeth, and shouted with full enthusiasm:

"Yo, comrade who trains early, let's have a fated showdown!"

Uchiha Naraku: ??
