Chapter 65 - The lord of the sky(65)

While Luffy was down there causing mayhem, Kairo and his group were just exploring the ruins.

More like Robin was hearing about the history of the world type shit, but oh well.

As Robin finished jotting her notes down, looking at all she could find, her guess was that the golden bell was probably above this big-ass tree.

Apart from that, she even learned where Poseidon was.

And what was the true purpose of this Poneglyph, alongside where she could read the true history of this world.

She needed to get to Laugh Tale first.

Though this Poneglyph didn't reveal where that shit was.

All it did reveal was that Poseidon would be in Fishman Island.

She did read more notes along the wall and was able to determine quite a lot about this society, along with the fact that they possessed many gods.

But the god that was revered above them all was the sun god, the greatest warrior that was ever born.

Nika... it seemed wherever she went, this name popped up.

She scribbled down some notes, looking at the slight graffiti of a warrior fighting an enormous beast.

Kairo meanwhile felt himself getting annoyed at the carvings in the walls.

Why the fuck was this guy everywhere? Was the whole world under an illusion or something? He didn't exist and that was the end of it.

"Have you finished taking the information in those murals?" Kairo would question. It wasn't like he was bored watching her do her work—some might say he was mesmerized even.

Something about how passionate she seemed about her work had him feeling a bit different. He might have liked this woman, but for now, denial was a river in Egypt.

Though how long he could keep denying himself was a different world altogether.

Robin would basically sum up what she found.

"It seems as if the city of gold existed 400 years ago, but like you said, roughly 400 years ago the city was launched into the sky. The Shandian and Skypiean got into a fight—the Skypieans wished to live there, a fight broke out." She paused, looking at some murals.

"The Shandian wanted to protect this stone, and it seems to have been their purpose for 800 years. This stone revealed the location of Poseidon and from what I could read, it seems like someone was here before us..."

"You mean Gol D. Roger," Kairo added.

She nodded her head.

"These Poneglyphs have already served their purpose. The Shandian people have accomplished what was given to them."

Kairo felt like there was something she was hiding from him, but he didn't press further.

If she wanted to have secrets, who was he to judge?

He stretched a bit. A shadow loomed over Robin's face, her eyes widening in shock.

A giant snake could be seen.

"Kairo...?"

Kairo looked at her oddly. He wondered why she was confused—what was that expression of shock for?

Something finally entered his passive Observation Haki range.

Looking up, he would see a massive snake coming from the sky.

Yes, it was Nola, the lord of the sky, what else could it be? {Dirty mind.}

Cricket, who was listening to this whole explanation—trying to figure out the history of this bitch—would also look up.

Yo, was that his—nah, that was a snake.

A big-ass snake. His sense of self-preservation would seem to activate, yet before he could act, the beast landed.

The beast hissed, seemingly pissed. Kairo just looked mildly bored, though he did wonder if Sanji could make some food out of this snake meat.

His hand went to his blade. Pulling out his Einherjar, he glanced at the snake.

Coating his blade with Haki, he prepared to kill the beast. Yet as he was about to launch at it to slice its head off...

The snake's eyes went to Cricket.

The beast paused... then lowered its head and got close. Cricket stepped back, wondering why such a massive snake wanted him.

Kairo's hand was still tightly grasped on his blade.

Ready to slice its head off...

Well, that was before—

{Nolan... it's you...}

That was the beast's voice.

As in, it recognized Cricket.

Kairo would sigh.

"It wants you to pet him," Kairo would reveal calmly.

"Like hell it wants that," the man didn't seem willing.

"The chestnut in your head reminds him of Nolan, and apparently Nolan was someone close to him. It wants you to pet him."

Cricket would pause a bit.

Looking at the beast's eager eyes.

Reaching out his hand, he petted the snake, who looked very happy as if his master was giving him the best pets known to man.

"You are a big softy, aren't ya?" the old man would say. The snake looked all happy, enjoying this.

Robin's fear changed to shock, then to surprise.

She had never expected for the lord of the sky to be so doting to a human. It seemed to really like Cricket.

Meanwhile, Kairo would think to himself:

'Bringing him here was the right idea. The Shandian will probably be peaceful when they know who he is.'

Though for a city of gold, there was barely any gold in this bitch.

Still, he felt a large concentration of gold somewhere nearby, so someone was hoarding it.

No matter, it would only be a matter of time before it was found.
