Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: How Is My Precious One?

Chapter 14: How Is My Precious One?

The Asura God unfolded his divine vision, projecting an image of a lower plane within the Divine Realm for all the gods to see.

The Martial Arts Plane—Tang Sect of Bashu.

A large rat crept through the sect's compound during a moment of lax vigilance. With sneaky determination, it stole the sect's treasured scripture, The Mysterious Heaven Treasured Record, and scurried into a hidden cave.

Before opening the book, the rat's tiny face glowed with excitement. Yet as if reminded of something solemn, it clasped its paws together, murmuring a prayer to unseen ancestors. "Ancestors of the Tang Sect—this disciple, Tang San, has violated our sacred rules today, but I had no choice. For generations, our sect's secret arts have faded into obscurity, now surviving only as legend. My heart burns for the Tang Sect's lost teachings, yet I lack a proper inheritance. Forgive this transgression! One day, when I perfect these arts, I, Tang San, will return them to the sect tenfold."

Finished speaking, the rat kowtowed several times in earnest. Having thus washed away his guilt, he opened the scripture with a clear conscience and began his training.

This scene played out vividly in the Asura God's divine sight.

"So," the Asura God asked with satisfaction, "how is my precious one?"

The other gods looked at one another in stunned silence.

Poseidon was the first to step forward boldly. "Truly worthy of your divine eye, Lord Asura! Such wisdom and talent in one so young. Though he gained his sect's inheritance by unconventional means, I see within him an unrivaled dedication to his clan."

The other gods quickly caught on, showering praise in sycophantic unison.

"Indeed, only Lord Asura's gaze could perceive such brilliance," said the God of Cuisine. "This 'precious one' cannot bear to see his sect's arts die out, so he acts boldly. And even after achieving success, his first thought is to repay his clan! What pure loyalty!"

The God of War added solemnly, "With this precious one chosen to lead the next age of the Divine Realm, our future will surely prosper beyond measure."

Their flattery sent ripples through the temple, each god striving to outpraise the last, depicting the "precious one" as a paragon of virtue—gentle, righteous, diligent, and flawless.

And to the Asura God, their words merely affirmed his own belief; indeed, he had chosen well.

"Now that I have found my ideal successor," the Asura God declared, "I shall, at the appointed time, bring his soul to the Douluo Continent, where he will inherit the gathered fortune of ten millennia and ascend to godhood. But first, he requires a vessel—a mortal form worthy of harboring my precious one's soul."

As for the vessel's father, the Asura God had already decided.

Across the Douluo Continent lay many strong lineages suited for his divine inheritance—the Clear Sky Hammer, the Seven Kill Sword, and more. Yet his affinity had always been for the Clear Sky Hammer, and Tang Chen's performance had proven the bloodline's worth.

Though Tang Chen had fallen into Huo Yuhao's trap, the sect was not without heirs.

The god's gaze settled upon two men within the Clear Sky Sect: Tang Xiao and Tang Hao. Both had been born with full innate soul power. If the Asura God favored either with divine insight as he had Tang Chen, they could easily surpass all mortal limits. Yet to forge another Tang Chen would be redundant.

"No," he mused, "let them instead contribute their lineage to my precious one's birth—and serve as his protectors."

A smirk played across his divine visage. "To be the father of my precious one is a blessing in itself. Let fate decide who earns this fortune. First trial—the City of Slaughter. Claim the Killing God Domain, and prove yourselves."

With a mere thought, two beams of divine light crossed from the heavens, descending upon Tang Hao and Tang Xiao.

"Now," murmured the Asura God, "comes the mother's turn. A proper vessel must possess a body capable of nurturing unparalleled talent. Whom shall I choose?"

His divine sense swept across the Douluo Continent. Among humankind, few women possessed physiques worthy of carrying such a destiny. Then inspiration struck him.

"If not human… then perhaps a soul beast."

His eyes gleamed. "A ten‑thousand‑year beast capable of taking human form—such a mother would produce divine bloodline perfection."

Having settled on this course, his attention locked swiftly on a single presence—the Blue Silver Emperor deep within the Blue Silver Forest, a being of supreme life essence.

"Yes… her bloodline will serve perfectly," he murmured. "With her life‑force foundation, my precious one can freely wield killing‑type powers like the Asura Blade or the Clear Sky Hammer without backlash. And the Blue Silver martial soul itself is not without merit. Still, there can be only one Blue Silver Emperor per continent… Once my precious one is born, I'll eliminate the creature, so he alone can inherit its title and essence."

With that thought, a flicker of divine light left his temple, streaking across dimensions to settle upon the unsuspecting Blue Silver Emperor.

Clear Sky Sect.

Tang Tian, seated upon the sect master's throne, eyed his two sons sternly.

"You both wish to go to the City of Slaughter?" he asked.

"Yes, Father," Tang Hao answered. "A voice deep within me urges me to go. It says if I miss this chance, I will regret it forever."

"I feel the same," Tang Xiao added. "Please, Father—grant us permission."

Tang Tian frowned. "Impossible. The City of Slaughter is perilous beyond imagination. Since ancient times, fewer than six people, including your grandfather Tang Chen, have ever returned. You are both the hope of the Clear Sky Sect. I cannot risk losing you."

"But Father," Tang Hao insisted, "Grandfather emerged victorious from that very place and earned the title of one of the Three Unrivaled Land Douluo. Without such trials, how can we ever become true powerhouses?"

Tang Xiao's voice joined his brother's. "Yes, Father. If Grandfather could escape the City of Slaughter alive, then so can we. We will win the Killing God Domain too."

Seeing both sons so resolute, Tang Tian sighed heavily. "Very well. Only one of you may go. The other must stay to ensure the sect's survival."

Ultimately, it was Tang Hao—fierce, bold, and unyielding—who set out for the City of Slaughter, while the calm and thoughtful Tang Xiao remained behind, heir apparent to the Clear Sky Sect.

But as they say, hesitation brings defeat.

In the original timeline, at that very moment, their fates diverged forever. If Tang Xiao had known what fortune he had missed, he would have defied even his father's command to follow his brother into that abyss, fighting for the destiny that would soon reshape the world.
