Chapter 16: Divine Seeds of Opposing Origins

Reflecting on Tang San's so‑called divine inheritance, then comparing it to her own legacy—and the thankless fate of her descendants, who protected the continent for millennia only to be scorned and forgotten—Qian Hanyu felt a surge of bitter indignation.

Mankind did not revere the Angel, just as they never thanked Luo Ji. Yet she did not regret her choices. As the founder of her divine rank, tasked with guarding all living beings, how could she ever betray her own path?

Pulling herself from her thoughts, Qian Hanyu looked toward her descendant. "You said that after your rebirth, you awakened carrying an Angel God seed," she said. "May I see it?"

"Yes, God Ancestor—please." Qian Renxue produced the seed and handed it to her.

The older goddess held it in her palm, instantly perceiving the contrasting yet familiar aura flowing from it. Though the energy was opposite to hers, she could feel its kindred origin—it was, as Qian Renxue had claimed, a counterpart born of another timeline.

If Qian Hanyu had harbored any doubts before, she no longer did. The moment she sensed the divine seed's energy, her uncertainty vanished, replaced by a sharp glimmer in her eyes.

There existed, it seemed, a new variable—the Eternal God. His presence had rewritten the entire balance of the Divine Realm.

In this altered reality, the Sea God had suffered heavily: deceived and outmatched by the Eternal God even before ascension. A being who could have become a First‑Rank deity was instead reduced to Second‑Rank status. Worse, his vile reputation and humiliations left him isolated, trampled repeatedly beneath the Eternal One's schemes. He had no time nor strength left to plot against her. In a strange irony, the Eternal God had indirectly saved Qian Hanyu's life.

As for herself, circumstances were far more favorable. The Divine Realm stood divided—between the Eternal God and the alliance of the Five God Kings. Some deities supported the latter, some the former, while others remained neutral. As one of the few pinnacle‑level Principal Gods, her options were vast. Maintaining neutrality, she had refrained from choosing a side; both factions had extended invitations, seeking her allegiance.

Yet after hearing what fate had befallen her and her bloodline in another timeline, Qian Hanyu no longer hesitated.

"Since you now know what lies ahead," she asked, "what do you intend to do, Xue'er?"

"God Ancestor," Qian Renxue said steadily, "I wish to descend to the Douluo Continent through your domain's passage. I intend to defeat the heirs of the Sea God and Asura God—to reclaim a debt in blood."

Qian Hanyu nodded. "So be it. I will inform your grandfather, the current High Priest of my legacy temple, to receive you when you arrive."

"Thank you, God Ancestor."

Holding the seed between her fingers, Qian Hanyu gave her successor a deep, meaningful look. "This is the Angel God's divine seed," she said. "But know this—you cannot use it directly to attain godhood. You have only two paths before you: refine the seed's essence, then face and defeat me to claim my throneship… or accept my inheritance directly. But this particular seed is unusual. Its nature opposes mine—and that presents a new possibility."

"A new possibility?" Qian Renxue blinked.

Qian Hanyu tossed the seed lightly to her. "Yes. Were this merely another holy‑attribute Angel seed, it would be meaningless—you could only choose one. But because this one bears reversed polarity, you can first refine its attributes, aligning its essence to yours. Then, when you inherit my role, you can fuse the two divine seeds together. The result… even I cannot predict. Perhaps it may break the limits of Principal Godhood—and ascend to the rank of God King."

"Why not attempt it yourself, God Ancestor?" Qian Renxue asked.

Qian Hanyu smiled faintly. "Because our natures differ. You embody both sanctity and corruption, light and darkness. Your duality allows you to harmonize two opposing seeds. I, on the other hand, am wholly light—I cannot tread that boundary. I believe this is why the Eternal God sent you to deliver this seed; he foresees your potential to take that final step."

Pausing for a moment of reflection, Qian Renxue hesitated before speaking again. "God Ancestor… if I inherit your position, will my grandfather sacrifice himself again?"

"That is the duty of one who serves as divine examiner," Qian Hanyu answered softly. "But worry not—sacrifice in this case does not mean true death. His soul will remain intact, and with your divine energy, you can revive him afterward."

"But then… why did Grandfather disappear completely after my ascension in my previous life?" Qian Renxue asked quietly, eyes dimming.

The answer came to them both almost at once.

In her past life's ascension, the examiner had not been the Angel God—it had been the Sea God. When Qian Daoliu offered his sacrifice, his soul had fallen into the Sea God's grasp.

"Damn that old pervert again," Qian Hanyu hissed, clenching her fist. "The Sea God, always the snake in the grass." Turning to Qian Renxue, her eyes softened with determination. "Do not fear. Go below, and accept my trial with peace of heart. As long as I still reign in the Divine Realm, I will not allow that vile Sea God or the scheming Asura to touch a hair on your head."

Qian Renxue bowed deeply. "I thank you, revered Ancestor."

Qian Hanyu raised her hand, and light filled the cathedral. The planar gate of the Angel Temple opened slowly, its radiant passage linking heaven and earth.

"Go," she said gently.

Douluo Continent, Spirit Hall.

Pope Qian Xunji held a parchment in his hands, eyes gleaming with excitement. Behind him stood the Grand Worship, Qian Daoliu, reading over his shoulder.

On the parchment was drawn the face of a six‑year‑old girl with wine‑red hair, along with her identifying information. She was a rare prodigy born in that year's awakening ceremonies—Bibi Dong.

Qian Daoliu's expression grew serious. "The Death Spider Emperor and the Soul‑Eating Spider Emperor—two of the most sinister martial souls, and both awakened in one body."

"Twin martial souls! Full innate soul power!" Qian Xunji's gaze shimmered fanatically. "The heavens have granted me the perfect disciple."

Qian Daoliu frowned faintly. "Her spirits are diametrically opposed to our Six‑Winged Angel. The Soul‑Eating Spider consumes souls to grow stronger, while the Death Spider feeds upon slaughter. Once misguided, she could become a great evil. Yet a dark martial soul does not make an evil soul master. With proper guidance and discipline, she could become one of Spirit Hall's greatest assets."

Qian Xunji smiled faintly, dismissive. "Father, you need not concern yourself. I have my own way of 'training' her."

Qian Daoliu looked as if to say more—but at that moment, divine light descended upon him. The God Ancestor had summoned him to the Angel Temple.

As his father departed, Qian Xunji cast a sidelong glance and smirked. "Restrain my future disciple? Hardly," he murmured to himself. "I have a much bolder plan."
