Chapter 267: Cai Yue'er's Confession!
"No—! Run!"
"Teacher! Where's the teacher!?"
"Scatter! Form up—defensive formation!"
The beach descended into chaos—screams of agony, panicked shouts, and roaring fury twisted together into a single cacophony of despair.
The orderly formation of the Shrek rescue team had been obliterated.
Littered across the sand were torn limbs, jagged shards of flesh, and blood mingled with seawater and muck. The air was thick with the stench of iron, rot, and sickness.
It had become a rain of gore.
Fragments of golden, red, blue, and black soul tools lay shattered amid scraps of green Shrek uniforms drenched in red—painting a scene straight from hell itself.
Wounded students groaned in the blood-soaked sand, writhing as dark red energy corroded their flesh. Wounds festered before their eyes, flesh blackening as life seeped away.
One single, deranged act of self-destruction had wiped out nearly half of Shrek Academy's elite rescue unit.
Over one-third lay dead. The rest teetered on the brink, grievously injured. Those still able to stand were left trembling, their minds cracked by the horror—the sight before them erasing all rational thought.
Only Long Yue, standing at the front, had managed to protect the exchange group and what remained of his fellow "Seven Monsters."
The reinforcements had arrived following a unanimous Sea God Pavilion decision. It was meant to be a simple trial… not a massacre.
Hovering midair, the Deathbringer had not perished. He trembled slightly—his gray aura thin and flickering—but his eyes gleamed with hysteria and triumph.
"Jie jie jie jie… hahahaha!"
"I'll kill you all!"
His piercing laugh drowned out the cries of the wounded as it echoed endlessly over the blood-drenched beach.
"Foolish Shrek! Self-righteous hypocrites! How does it feel? This is your destiny—the Holy Cult's gift! Die and become nourishment for my undead army! Your souls and flesh belong to our master!"
He gazed upon the devastation with satisfaction—the scattered corpses of Shrek's proudest youth—and laughed until tears streamed down his ashen face.
A single explosion. In exchange for his life, he had laid waste to their future.
"BEAST!!!"
A thunderous roar erupted, shaking the heavens. It wasn't Zhuo Shi this time—he had fainted, utterly drained after shielding everyone from the blast.
This fury came from Cai Yue'er—the Super Douluo who had led the trial mission, the one responsible for protecting the students.
Her punishment had ended only recently, reinstated to full duty and tasked with rebuilding the outer court. This mission was supposed to redeem her reputation.
Now she realized she had committed an unforgivable mistake.
Before departure, in the Sea God Pavilion meeting, she had sworn—sworn—that she would bring her students home safe.
Even if death was part of a trial, it wasn't meant to be this. Not half a group wiped out in an instant!
The future of Shrek—destroyed before her eyes.
As she watched the twisted remains of her proud students—bright, hopeful lives blown apart under her command—her chest constricted with unbearable agony and guilt.
She had pushed for this decision.
She had stood before the council insisting the students needed real trials—that they must taste hardship to earn true strength.
She had sent them here.
And she had told Zhuo Shi—through mental transmission—to hold back, to let the students gain experience.
Arrogant. Blind. Fatal.
Even if the Deathbringer was a Title Douluo, she had believed the inner-court elites could handle him together. That it would be easy.
How wrong she had been.
The explosion's magnitude had far surpassed Soul Saint-level combat—it had touched the very realm of Title Douluo might.
Now, looking upon the carnage she had caused, her face turned ghastly white.
It was she who had volunteered. She who had promised redemption.
And she who had doomed them all.
Her old, steady expression contorted into something savage.
She had underestimated the madness of Evil Soul Masters.
"I'll grind your bones to ashes!!"
Cai Yue'er roared to the heavens. A silver moon erupted behind her, flooding the battlefield with a blinding radiance. Her soul power burst outward like a stellar storm, tidal and furious.
She cared nothing for defense—only vengeance.
She would kill him—tear down that laughing monster in the sky.
The Deathbringer cackled, madness dripping from every word.
"You're too late, old hag! Hahaha! Die—die with them! The Holy Cult welcomes you all!"
He had already sacrificed everything. One more act of destruction would only add to the glory of the Holy Spirit Cult.
"All for the Holy Church!"
His laughter was shrill and deranged as Cai Yue'er's killing aura reached him. He retreated rapidly—he couldn't hope to match a fully awakened Super Douluo in direct combat.
But as he glanced at the dying students sprawled across the beach, his grin twisted with satisfaction.
He remembered the legends—the original Deathbringer, a Soul King whose self-destruction had nearly annihilated Shrek's former Seven Monsters.
He was far weaker than that one, he knew. Even after causing this tragedy, he hadn't managed to kill the new generation—the fledgling Seven Monsters who yet lived.
What a pity.
Still, his mission was done.
He had no time left—and no need for survival.
His last thought burned like a prayer in his mind.
Everything—for the Holy Spirit Cult.
