Chapter 268: The Deathbringer's Final Glory!
Without hesitation, the Deathbringer's thin fingers began to weave intricate seals. Strange, guttural incantations spilled from his mouth.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground trembled violently. Fragments of corpses—what remained of the Shrek students blown apart moments ago—suddenly pulsed with blinding light, their mangled bodies swelling grotesquely.
Corpse Explosion!
The first blast had come from the eleven Evil Soul Masters, but now—these corpses too were ready to detonate.
A second explosion!
And it wasn't only them—the sand beneath the battlefield began to bulge and writhe.
Splurt!
Rotten, blood-streaked hands burst from beneath the earth—dangling flesh, purple decay, bones scraping against soil.
Then came faces, twisted and half-melted, with hollow eyes burning with eerie green flames.
Corpse Slaves!
Dozens of them!
The Deathbringer had instantly birthed an army, conjuring undead using the freshly killed bodies, residual malice, and unending death energy that filled the shore.
Individually, each undead was weak—but their numbers surged like a tide, already dozens strong and still growing.
Because these, too, could explode!
Soulless howls erupted as the undead charged—half toward the wounded Shrek students struggling to rise, half toward Cai Yue'er, forming a writhing wall of flesh in a desperate attempt to stall her advance.
"Protect the injured!"
Tang Wulin's hoarse voice tore through the chaos. Ignoring the agony that wracked his body and the sinister curse gnawing at his soul, he forced his soul power to flow once more.
Golden Blue Silver Grass unfurled—not as a weapon this time, but as strong coiling vines. They lashed out, wrapping around several injured students ensnared by corpse slaves, dragging them to safety.
"Blue Silver Bind!"
His Golden Dragon Spear carved through the air, smashing several undead into pieces, sending gore scattering across the sand.
But the stench of death only thickened, the poisonous miasma drawing closer, rekindling the curse eating away inside him.
His soul power faltered—each strike felt slower, heavier.
Long Yue, though wielding the Mountain Dragon King's might, was also badly wounded. Looking upon the devastated beach, the fallen Shrek elites, and even some familiar faces who had once trained alongside him, his heart filled with fury—and helplessness.
Damn it all!
Among the surviving Shrek inner-court students, a few managed to shake off their shock. Eyes red with rage and grief, they regrouped.
"Form up! Assault-types up front! Support, bring light! Healers—now! Get to them!"
Despite their terror, the surviving students began forming small defensive rings, holding ground through pure instinct and the teamwork drilled into every Shrek disciple.
Healing soul masters trembled as they pressed on, swallowing down fear and nausea while weaving bright green healing light through the carnage—bathing the wounded, trying desperately to hold onto life.
But darkness swallowed the light.
With every passing second, more undead clawed from the blood-soaked sand, a tide of death pressing closer.
"Jie jie… Useless! Struggle! Yes, struggle all you like!" laughed the Deathbringer. His voice slithered across the air, seeping into every ear. "Your fear only feeds me! The stronger your despair—the greater my strength! Let death consume you!"
He retreated slowly, controlling his undead legion to harass Cai Yue'er while creating more chaos.
He knew he couldn't defeat a Super Douluo head-on. His goal was simple—break their spirit, drown them in confusion and terror, and make this beach their grave.
For the Holy Cult!
Cai Yue'er charged like a raging storm, fury blazing brighter than any star. Every step she took left infernal silver flames that burned the undead to ash. Her energy was pure—holy and cleansing—a nemesis to death and rot.
Each punch, each burst of silver light, annihilated scores of corpses, clearing wide swathes of space.
But there were too many.
Every time she advanced, still more clawed up from the earth—the remnants of the explosion continuing to spawn death itself.
And each burst of soul power from her disrupted the frontline, forcing the corpse army to turn on the injured Shrek students instead.
It became a vicious cycle—advance and risk more deaths, or stay and watch her people die.
She chose both.
Silver light flared, melting corpses to vapor as she fought to carve a path through the chaos. But still, she could not reach him.
The Deathbringer hovered just beyond her reach, his laughter echoing above the sound of clashing souls.
The once-proud Dean of Shrek's outer court—renowned for her composure and commanding presence—was reduced to a desperate fury, sweat and blood streaking her face.
"Damn you! Damn you!!"
Her eyes locked onto his gray-shrouded form, voice trembling with venom.
"I swear—I'll tear your soul apart and make you beg for death for eternity!"
The battle devolved into carnage.
On one side, a raging Super Douluo and the surviving Shrek heroes, struggling to hold the line.
On the other, a dying Evil Soul Master, laughing as he unleashed an endless army of corpses.
The beach had become a slaughterhouse—a true Shura Field. Blood ran with the tide, staining the sand dark red.
"Jie jie jie… JIE JIE JIE JIE!"
Deathbringer's laughter spread like plague.
Then his body began to glow.
Red light pulsed beneath his skin—veins bulging, muscles swelling grotesquely. He was expanding. Again.
"For the Holy Cult!"
Every heart froze.
Another Corpse Explosion—but this time, a Title Douluo's!
Their expressions drained of all color.
Even Cai Yue'er's eyes widened.
If this went off, everything—everyone—would be gone.
"Disperse! Run!"
The surviving students, only moments ago standing proud as Shrek's elite, scattered like terrified birds, fleeing across the beach in utter chaos.
So much for glory.
"BASTARD!"
Cai Yue'er's roar split the heavens.
"You think I'm just going to let you?!"
Her aged, battle-worn appearance vanished in a flash of silver as she shed her disguise—a young woman once more, radiant and fierce.
She had donned the guise of age to command respect; now, the pretense burned away, revealing her true power.
Her three-word battle armor flared into existence, silver and graceful—like a goddess of war reborn.
With a motion of her hand, a full super Douluo's might erupted, shaking the sea itself.
From the sky above, the silver moon blazed—a mirror of her wrath.
Raising her right hand, she flicked her wrist forward.
A tremendous force slammed through the air—pure repulsion, unstoppable.
The Deathbringer, mid-explosion, was caught in it—dragged like a puppet into the sky, hurled out over the ocean.
"Jie jie jie—" His unhinged laugh echoed one final time.
Then came the light.
BOOM!
Flames erupted over the sea, shaking the waves to their core.
And like that, the Deathbringer—the last remnant of the Holy Spirit Cult's former glory—was gone.
He never became the strongest Title Douluo.
