Chapter 33: The Glory of Shrek Shall Not Be Defiled!

"Impossible!"

Yun Ming's expression darkened immediately. Did they even understand where they were standing?

This was Shrek City—the sacred land of soul masters, a place that had endured for over ten thousand years, witnessing the rise and fall of dynasties yet forever unshaken.

To make Shrek Academy abandon Shrek City—was that not demanding that he, Yun Ming, Pavilion Master of the Sea God Pavilion, become the sinner of all Shrek?

If he yielded, how could he ever face the Pavilion Masters of ages past in the underworld?

In the next instant, a suffocating wave of deathly energy surged through the air.

Yun Ming froze. He had never—never—felt such a terrifying aura, not even when facing a dozen Titled Douluo at once.

It was too oppressive. Too despairing.

"You… You actually intend to use a Level Twelve Fixed-Mount Soul Guidance Cannon?!"

Yun Ming's horrified voice trembled as his eyes swept over every person before him.

Over the centuries, even the Tang Sect had secretly studied Level 12 cannons. Thousands of years ago, Huo Yuhao had helped them close the gap briefly—but even then, in the field of Soul Guidance Technology, they could never surpass the Sun Moon Empire.

No individual genius could ever rival the united strength of a nation!

Yun Ming had only heard rumors of the Federation possessing such weapons. He had dismissed them as exaggerations—a so-called "god-slaying weapon" was, to him, absurd.

How could one claim to "slay gods" when gods no longer walked the earth?

But now that he faced it, Yun Ming no longer doubted. Whether it could slay gods, he didn't know—but he was certain of one fact:

Even he, the strongest man on the continent, could not withstand its wrath.

"If a Level Twelve cannon detonates, no one in Shrek City will survive! Does the Federation intend to commit mass slaughter?!"

Jiang Chen shook his finger with a calm smile. "Rest assured, the Federation will not kill innocents indiscriminately. With so many Extreme Douluo here, do you really think we'd allow civilians to come to harm?"

Yun Ming's face went pale, his mind racing.

And then, beside him, an elderly woman appeared—dressed simply, her gray hair bound neatly, her aura humble yet commanding such respect that none present dared to underestimate her.

"Sea God Pavilion's Dragon Yueye! You truly mean to side with the Federation against your own Shrek Academy?"

Sea God Pavilion Elder: Long Yueye, Level 99 Extreme Douluo, Quasi-God strength, Martial Souls—Holy Light Dragon and Darkness Holy Dragon.

With Huo Yuhao long gone, she was now the oldest living human powerhouse on the Douluo Plane—and the only one to have cultivated both twin Martial Souls to the Extreme Douluo level.

Had she not grown frail with age, she might well have been the strongest of this era.

Chen Xinjie stiffened upon seeing her. For even now, this old woman remained the first love he had never truly forgotten.

But as a general of the Federation and master of the War God Temple, he could not afford personal sentiment.

A first love was, after all, just that—a memory of youth.

Even Jiang Chen was momentarily impressed. He had expected to worry whether Chen Xinjie might defect for her sake, but clearly his ideological discipline was impeccable.

No wonder the Federation trusted him to lead the War God Temple.

Chen Xinjie's voice was solemn. "If Shrek vacates Shrek City, the Federation will spare the Academy. Shrek will remain the Federation's academy—a sanctuary for all soul masters."

Long Yueye's expression hardened, anger flaring.

"Well, well! The children of yesterday have grown into such men!"

The atmosphere dropped below freezing.

Two Shrek Extreme Douluo—against eight from the Federation.

A hopeless standoff.

"Does the Federation truly wish to be this ruthless?"

Shrek must fall, the Federation believed—or the continent would never know peace.

After all, how could they tolerate Shrek continuing to steal Soul Guidance technology and secretly aid rival nations?

When the Star Luo and Heaven Dou Federations barely stayed afloat technologically, who else but Shrek had fueled their progress?

It had been the Federation's Soul Guidance weapons that had vanquished the old Star Luo Empire and unified the continent.

And yet, hardly had victory been secured when rebellious factions rose again to form new "Federations."

A farce. Pure chaos.

Now, the presence of eight Extreme Douluo signified one thing: there would be no peaceful resolution today.

At that moment, Jiang Chen—the consummate troublemaker—patted Huo Yuanjing's shoulder lightly.

"I'm going inside to find someone. Hold them off for me."

"Ancestor!"

Huo Yuanjing's jaw clenched. Now? Of all times? He was seconds away from ordering the cannon fired, but reluctantly stepped aside.

"Go on."

Approaching the gates of Shrek Academy, Jiang Chen gave Yun Ming a faint smile.

"I'm just going to see her. You won't stop me, will you?"

Yun Ming sighed. The "stolen fiancée" bit was clearly nonsense—but perhaps if Na'er spoke to this boy, it might calm him. The Huo Family's reverence toward him, after all, could not be mere coincidence.

"…Go ahead."

"I used to wander these courtyards myself, back in the day," Jiang Chen said quietly as he stepped through, his small frame strolling leisurely across the surface of Sea God Lake.

The entire Academy trembled with outrage.

Even the elders of the Sea God Pavilion glared daggers at the intruder—an outsider walking freely through their most sacred ground, their holy temple!

To all Shrek disciples, the Pavilion's sanctity was unquestionable. From their first day, they were taught that Shrek's glory was supreme—that for its honor, they must be ready to die.

Especially the Inner Court students.

To them, Shrek's pride was their very life.

It could not—would not—be trampled.

"Pavilion Master!"

The Pavilion's elders stood ready to strike, eyes blazing with killing intent, as Jiang Chen walked step by step toward the Sea God Pavilion itself.

Never in history had an outsider set foot within these halls—let alone as an enemy.

To Shrek, this was humiliation beyond words.

"Stand down," Yun Ming ordered.

"Pavilion Master—!"

"Stand down!" he roared. "By my command as Pavilion Master!"

Grinding their teeth, the elders obeyed. Fighting was impossible anyway—with eight Extreme Douluo waiting outside, they had no strength to spare.

They began evacuating students and resources from the Inner Court—if the unthinkable occurred, at least the spark of Shrek could survive.

As for the outer academy, composed largely of elites from other nations and families, even the Federation wouldn't dare slaughter them all.

Step by step, Jiang Chen entered the heart of Shrek—the sacred Sea God Pavilion—and vanished from sight.

He knew the way perfectly.

"Jiang Chen~"

Na'er's soft voice broke the silence. She stood just as she had the first day they met—delicate and porcelain-like, her silver hair now brushing gently against her shoulders.

Na'er looked at him with eyes full of guilt.

She didn't understand why things had escalated so terribly.

"Brother…"
