Chapter 19 — Gu Yue: Follow Me, and I Shall Help You Become a God!
Of course, Gu Yue's visit to Eastsea City had three main purposes.
First, to meet the tiger Di Tian kept obsessively mentioning.
Second, to study among the humans. Though her ultimate goal was to annihilate humanity and restore soul beasts as the rulers of the continent, she did not underestimate her enemies.
She knew many quasi-gods roamed the continent—beings who only lacked the divine seat of the God Realm to ascend.
Strategically, she would despise her opponent.
Tactically, she would treat them with caution.
That was why she had sealed her own powers, choosing to live as a human—to temper her battle instincts through genuine combat.
As the Silver Dragon King, the embodiment of the Dragon God's Wisdom, her grand plan could not be allowed to fail.
Third—and most important—was to reclaim her other half and become the true Silver Dragon King once more.
In hindsight, dividing her divine consciousness to "experience human life" had been an impulsive act.
But no matter. The Silver Dragon King, blessed with the Dragon God's wisdom, could never be wrong!
Jiang Chen smiled politely. "Tiangang, since Miss Gu Yue is here, let's dine together."
Huo Tiangang, noticing the faint tension still lingering from their earlier confrontation, smiled faintly. The Ancestor, as expected, had struck with pure precision.
And that girl… not bad. To meet his power without flinching meant Cold Tower Master's disciple was extraordinary indeed.
Good. Perhaps it was time the Huo Clan produced a few more prodigies.
If the Qian Gu family could compete, why couldn't they?
He escorted them to a private restaurant specially prepared for the occasion but quickly excused himself. Being Tower Master of Eastsea City was no idle post.
Overseeing one of the eighteen heavenly pillars of the Spirit Transmission Tower was a political balancing act—the Huo Clan's honor was tied to his performance.
For now, he had to focus on the Tower's partnership with Eastsea Academy.
Depth, development, cooperation—the future depends on it.
Once Huo Tiangang left, Jiang Chen finally said quietly, "Come out already, Di Tian. Everyone's gone."
In an instant, a man in his thirties appeared beside him—dressed in black, strands of golden hair streaking through his jet-black mane, looking both regal and mildly rebellious.
"Finally! I thought I'd suffocate in that damned plane," Di Tian groaned, stretching. "Flying by machine is torture. We should've just flown ourselves."
Then he smirked. "Well, well, Jiang Chen—it's been centuries! How's that million-year tribulation treating you? Think you'll survive it?"
"Never thought the little cub who once hid behind trees would end up surpassing me—hah! Must be nice being everyone's favorite powerhouse."
Mid-ramble, a cold shiver ran down his spine.
He turned slowly and met Gu Yue's eyes.
The effect was instantaneous.
Every hair on his body stood. Di Tian vanished so quickly it was as though he'd never been there at all.
Jiang Chen blinked.
What the hell?
Then Gu Yue's calm, expressionless voice echoed in the now-silent room. "You may come out."
A moment later, Di Tian reappeared behind her—shoulders squared, posture upright, like an obedient bodyguard. He didn't dare breathe loudly.
Gu Yue's mind stirred. Her reunion with her other self—the completion of the Silver Dragon King—was long overdue.
It enraged her that as the rightful ruler of soul beasts, her authority was no longer absolute.
Brigitte eyed her with disdain, the Bear King ignored her entirely, and besides Zi Ji, none of the soul beasts supported her crusade for beast-kind supremacy.
Even Di Tian had dared "suggest restraint," claiming the tiger's ideas were worth considering.
Her own subordinate, daring to doubt her reign!
Preposterous.
He had even insinuated that her brain had gone soft from centuries of meditation.
Outrageous!
She would remind them exactly who she was—a living god, the last divine being on the continent!
A true God King, bearer of an authentic divine weapon!
Who would dare oppose her?
But first, she needed to reclaim her missing half. Only then would she be whole—and ready to command the beasts in conquest.
Behind her, Di Tian stood still, not daring to move.
Jiang Chen, meanwhile, didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
How was he supposed to deal with the true Silver Dragon King?
Na'er could be tricked, manipulated, even bullied a bit.
But this Gu Yue?
Try the same, and the Dragon God Claw wouldn't be the only thing through his chest—the Silver Dragon Spear would come next.
The three of them ate in heavy silence, each lost in thought.
The air was thick enough to drown in.
Di Tian fidgeted, a thousand things to say swirling in his mind, but with his master there, he could only sit quietly and reminisce about the good old days—back when he and Jiang Chen soaked in the Lake of Life together, carefree and boastful.
Ah, those were wild times indeed.
Finally, Gu Yue set down her glass and broke the silence.
"You… are remarkable."
Her gaze sharp, voice firm. "Since you already know who I am, I shall grant you this chance—to follow me. I will not let such loyalty go unrewarded."
"You face the million-year tribulation, correct? If you abandon this foolish 'human' cultivation and return to your beast form, I can help you surpass it. I will guide you to godhood."
Jiang Chen's eyes brightened. "Truly, my lord has a way to let me survive the tribulation?"
"Of course." Her expression was calm yet imperious, befitting a god.
She knew well that even with the Evil God's bloodline, he was still a soul beast at heart—and a powerful one.
If a second soul beast attained divinity under her reign, the soul beast race would instantly have two gods.
Wiping out humanity would become child's play.
"How certain are you—of success?" Jiang Chen asked cautiously.
He was tempted. He knew his destiny was to ascend, but the how remained elusive.
In his beast form, surviving the million-year tribulation would automatically make him a Beast God.
But that trial—the death sentence decreed by the Dragon God himself—had never once been overcome. Only the Dragon God could lift it.
Turning human had been his workaround, aiming for ascension through divine inheritance. Yet without a God Realm, godhood was unattainable.
His last gamble had been to use the Spirit Transmission Tower's God Realm fragment, fusing it with Devil Island's residual divine energy from the fallen Gods of Destruction and Life—to forge a miniature divine domain of his own.
But if she truly could help him transcend naturally…
He'd consider it.
"How likely?" he pressed again.
Gu Yue smiled with supreme confidence. "Thirty percent."
Jiang Chen deflated instantly.
Thirty percent? Are you serious?
At seventy percent, he might risk it. But thirty? That was suicide.
Seeing his dismay, Gu Yue's calm grace faltered. Her pride bristled.
How dare he look dissatisfied?
With humans, she could ignore such insolence. But this was a soul beast—her subordinate!
Defying his monarch's benevolence? Unacceptable!
"What is that look?" she snapped icily. "Thirty percent odds of godhood, and you refuse? Other soul beasts would beg for such fortune, and you dare question me?"
Her eyes gleamed with fury. "Do you… look down on me?"
