Chapter 23 — The Silver Dragon Spear! Awakening for Na'er!
The Dragon God—the undisputed mightiest of all beings—had been a monarch far beyond even the level of a God King. It was his power alone that had elevated the former Dragon Realm into the divine firmament, suppressing it single-handedly. After its collapse, the realm's fragments compressed and became what was later known as the God Realm.
Even if the Silver Dragon King devoured the Golden Dragon King completely, she would never reach the Dragon God's former heights. Di Tian knew this, but he still couldn't accept it. Having witnessed the glory of the dragon race in its prime, he was determined to see it rise again—even at the cost of his own life.
"I'll tell you what's protecting that boy," Jiang Chen said evenly. "His grandfather is the Child of the Plane, and his grandmother—she is the Golden Tree of Shrek Academy, fused with every Sea God Pavilion Master throughout time. Both divine beings sealed by the Plane's laws, but still gods nonetheless. Their divine strength protects him."
He smirked faintly. "And when you count them all, Tang Wulin effectively has four gods watching over him. Who can possibly touch him?"
Despair flickered across Di Tian's face.
He, too, had once existed as a god, back when divine essence flooded the Dragon Realm. Though fallen now, he understood well—the difference between mortals and gods wasn't just a title. To possess godhood, one's body had to absorb divine essence and reshape itself into a vessel for immortal energy.
In the current age, creating a new god meant first constructing an entire miniature God Realm to gather divine essence—then forging a divine seat to stabilize it.
Now that the true God Realm had been cast into the chaotic void, no one could ascend so easily. Without a God Realm, no mortal could become divine.
(Footnote for Di Tian: during the Dragon Clan era, the Dragon God favored him, granting him the Dragon God Claw—his authority once unmatched.)
With a bitter smile, Di Tian whispered, "So there's truly no way to reconcile? If we aided the Lord together, we could restore all soul beasts…"
Jiang Chen's voice was calm, almost bored. "Not happening. I don't trust anyone—least of all a shut-in dragon who's spent millions of years preaching about 'divine wisdom' and soul beast revival."
"Unless—"
Di Tian's eyes brightened instantly. "Unless what?"
Jiang Chen grinned devilishly. "Unless she gives me a child."
Di Tian stiffened. Then, without another word, he turned and walked out before he could lose control and impale the tiger with his Dragon God Claw.
"Remember to leave the Silver Dragon Spear!" Jiang Chen called after him cheerfully. "I'll make sure the Golden Night Dragon grows up fat and healthy!"
Outside, Gu Yue continued gazing icily into the sky. Even as Di Tian approached, she didn't move a muscle—maintaining her divine composure.
"Well?" she said coldly.
Shame flickered across Di Tian's face. "Forgive me, my Lord. I failed."
However, he added quickly, "There may yet be another way to aid your ascension."
He explained Jiang Chen's plan—the Golden Night Dragon within Tang Wulin's body, born from the Golden Dragon Spear's essence and nurtured with one of Di Tian's reverse scales.
That creature carried both the power and the devouring instincts of the Golden Dragon King. By consuming Tang Wulin's bloodline, it could evolve into a true Golden Dragon.
Gu Yue's lilac eyes narrowed. "He wants me to leave the Silver Dragon Spear… for her?"
Her fists clenched tightly. She regretted her past decision so fiercely that it hurt. "What was I thinking back then? Was I insane?"
Fortunately, the Na'er personality was merely a humanized fragment of herself, not her complete essence.
Still—it was a dangerous vulnerability.
While the Silver Dragon King might have regained God-King-level strength, only her divine consciousness, inherited from the Dragon God, had truly reached that height. Her energy form was an incomplete god—her mind strong, but her body far from whole.
Splitting that divine consciousness had been a catastrophic mistake. No period of "recovery" would ever truly mend it.
"Di Tian," she said sharply, "I want everything."
He could only stare at her wordlessly.
Even now, she's doubling down on the very mistake she regrets.
When she had decided to divide her soul to "experience humanity," he had objected. One didn't need to split themselves in two to understand mortals.
Now, she realized painfully how powerless she was to correct what had been done. Jiang Chen's million-year Heavenly Tribulation, Tang Wulin's divine bloodline—both obstacles beyond her reach.
For the first time, the Silver Dragon King began to doubt herself.
Was her grand plan still worth chasing?
"My Lord?" Di Tian asked hesitantly.
Gu Yue raised her hand, summoning a gleaming silver spear. Over twelve feet long, it was slender but incomparably sharp, its shaft covered in fine silver scales that shimmered with spiritual energy.
The Silver Dragon Spear.
Born of the Dragon God's remains, it shared the devouring attribute of the Golden Dragon Spear—but was gentler, less forceful. It lacked the golden spear's ability to shatter magic or evolve through consumption, yet it remained a divine weapon of the highest caliber, one step short of becoming a super-artifact.
Gu Yue's expression darkened. Without another word, she hurled the weapon.
A streak of silver light cut through the horizon—tearing through Jiang Chen's villa door before embedding itself deep in his living room wall. Cracks cascaded outward like a shattered spiderweb.
Jiang Chen nearly jumped out of his skin.
"I hope you keep your word," Gu Yue's voice echoed coldly across the distance.
The sonic ripple faded, and both she and Di Tian vanished.
"Ancestor! What happened? Did someone attack us?"
Huo Yuner peeked up from the basement, hammer still in hand.
"Not your problem. Keep forging."
Pouting, she stomped her foot. "Ugh! Stupid Ancestor!"
Upstairs, Jiang Chen called softly, "Na'er, come down."
Her silver-haired head peeked nervously around a corner. "A-are they gone?"
Ever since Gu Yue's arrival, Na'er had felt her heart tighten painfully—an instinctive pull, an urge to run into the stranger's arms. It was as if… she belonged with her.
But it terrified her. She couldn't explain why.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Chen asked gently.
"Who—who was that woman?" Na'er's voice trembled, her face pale as snow. "She felt like… like a predator."
Jiang Chen hesitated, then explained everything—the truth about the Silver Dragon King and Na'er's origin.
It was better she knew than live ignorant and vulnerable.
Her shoulders shook. "So… so I'm not human? I'm… a dragon? And she came here to devour me?"
"You're not a dragon," he said softly. "You're human. The Silver Dragon King only divided her mind, not her body. She is the spirit—you are the person."
He smiled faintly. "For some reason, people on this continent love splitting their souls. Wang Qiu'er and Wang Dong'er merged into Tang Wutong. The Dragon God split into Golden and Silver halves. You and Gu Yue split into one being and two lives."
"Maybe once, before your lives diverged, you were the same—but not anymore."
"People change with experience. Ask Wang Qiu'er and Wang Dong'er if they'd want to merge again." He looked into her wide purple eyes. "Would you want to?"
Na'er's silence was answer enough.
Clearly, no.
"I made a deal," Jiang Chen said finally. "They'll leave you alone. You're safe now."
Na'er's eyes reddened a little. "Why… why are you so kind to me?"
