Chapter 15 — Educating Na'er, an Urgent Matter

All the way back, Jiang Chen's face was dark as thunder. Even if he added up the age of her eighteenth-generation ancestors, he was still older!

Getting fined was bad enough—his beloved motorcycle had been impounded, and the girl behind him had silently mocked him the entire way home. How could he possibly be in a good mood?

At that moment, Jiang Chen suddenly realized he might actually have… age anxiety.

Any lingering joy from successfully "bringing home" the half–Silver Dragon King had completely vanished.

"Ancestor! Look, I made your favorite Kung Pao chicken!"

From inside the house came a sweet, delighted voice. Huo Yuner had washed up, put on a cute new dress, and hurried to answer the door the moment she heard movement outside.

But as the door opened, she froze—because her beloved ancestor was holding the hand of an unfamiliar silver-haired girl.

Short, silvery hair, amethyst eyes, an expression of visible disgust, her hand struggling in vain to break free. There was a coldness about her that screamed do not approach.

Something about her looked familiar… but what mattered was—

"Ancestor! You kidnapped a child?! You'll get thrown in jail! Return her right now!"

Jiang Chen rolled his eyes. "This is Na'er—you met her three years ago. She's going to live here from now on. And you don't need to get acquainted."

He had no plans to let anyone near the half–Silver Dragon King. Certainly not to send her to school.

He'd finally managed to trick her into coming here. Now, he could finally make his move.

The main body of the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yue, retained full memory and the Dragon God's so-called "Divine Intellect." She was untouchable.

But this half, Na'er—amnesiac and naïve—was far easier to manipulate.

Soon enough, Gu Yue and Di Tian would come seeking re-fusion.

In the story, Na'er had resisted because of Tang Wulin, making a bet with Gu Yue and fleeing to Shrek Academy. But eventually, they still merged into Gu Yue Na.

His goal now was to ensure Na'er could never unite with Gu Yue again.

He couldn't use brute force, so the key lay in Na'er herself.

Huo Yuner's bright smile froze. Her mouth opened and closed—no sound came out.

Jiang Chen's stern gaze swept over her. "Did you finish your forging drills today?"

"N–no…"

"Then go train."

"I… I was waiting for you to eat."

"Don't bother next time. Time is precious. Eat while hammering."

Her world collapsed instantly. She couldn't even sit for dinner anymore?

"Y-yes!"

"Good."

From the basement came rhythmic clangs of metal. Huo Yuner had taken her frustration out on her hammering. The noise rattled all the way up to the third floor.

Jiang Chen nodded in satisfaction. That's more like it. Every spare second should go to cultivation—that's the way to power.

Na'er, however, looked doubtful as he led her to a fully outfitted bedroom. It seemed too complete.

"This… isn't my room, right?" she asked cautiously.

Jiang Chen answered with a straight face. "Of course it is. Well, mine too. We'll share."

A heartbeat later, Na'er bolted for the door.

She didn't get far. Without a martial soul, she was an ordinary girl—hardly a match for Jiang Chen. He scooped her up like a chick and plopped her back inside.

Clutching her clothes, eyes brimming with fury and wariness, she looked ready to fight to the death.

"How could you tarnish someone's innocence like this?" Jiang Chen teased lightly.

"Fine, fine. My mistake."

She bit her lip hard, trembling with rage before finally spitting out,

"You disgusting lolicon pervert!"

After a long argument, he finally convinced her to stay—next door to his room.

Still uneasy, Na'er muttered, "I want to stay with that sister."

"Oh, she's on the first floor," Jiang Chen explained casually. "She needs to train near the basement—it's more convenient."

Na'er fell silent.

Outside, moonlight glittered faintly in the midnight sky.

After finishing dinner—food prepared by poor Huo Yuner between tears—Na'er ran straight up to the third floor, locked her door, and leaned against it, exhaling in relief.

Well, partial relief.

The house was much larger than Tang Wulin's. The bed was softer—too soft.

Na'er sat quietly, staring at the ceiling.

The older she grew, the less innocent life became.

No—that wasn't right. She remembered being much, much older than she looked.

And she never felt hunger. Never felt tired.

Could she really be… human?

If she couldn't awaken a martial soul, was she perhaps… a soul beast?

Occasionally, strange fragmented visions flashed through her head, leaving her dizzy.

Suddenly, her blanket lifted.

A pair of cold hands slipped beneath it, followed by a warm, furnace-like body.

Na'er gasped. "I— I locked the door! How did you—?!"

"Shhh." Jiang Chen clamped a hand over her mouth. "Quiet. You'll wake Huo Yuner, and she'll start yelling again."

"I can't sleep."

Na'er's eyes widened. She kicked violently—sending both him and the blanket crashing to the floor.

"Ow!"

"I'm your creditor! Is that how you treat me, you ungrateful white-eyed dragon?!"

Na'er took a deep breath, glaring furiously. "I promise I'll pay you back!"

"Oh? How?"

Silence. Then, hesitantly—"I'll… I'll get a job. I'll work until I've paid everything back."

"I've got a job for you," Jiang Chen said casually. "Warming my bed. Ten thousand per night."

Na'er's hands gripped her skirt tightly, staring at him in disbelief.

He shrugged. "If you don't want to, fine. Your real debtor is Tang Wulin, after all. I can just ask him instead."

He said it so flippantly, like money fell from the sky. But deep inside, he knew time was running short.

According to the original events, Na'er should've been taken when Tang Wulin awakened his martial soul.

But with him here, things had shifted. Di Tian would surely be alerted—but not yet. Since no message had come, he still had time.

Not much—but some.

Two ancient beings—one dragon from the Dragon God Era, one century-old soul beast—neither was exactly naïve.

He could only deceive her while her memories remained sealed.

"Wait!" Na'er cried as he turned to leave. Her face flushed red with anger. "You—you can't go to Tang Wulin! We already agreed!"

"Sure," Jiang Chen replied smoothly. "But if you can't repay me, someone has to. Money doesn't fall from the heavens, you know."

"T-ten thousand a night…" she whispered, clenching her teeth. As Jiang Chen stepped toward the door, she finally muttered, "Only the soft bed. That's all."

Jiang Chen nodded solemnly. "Of course. I swear."
