Chapter 10 — Na'er: Borrowing Money!
Three years later.
Since Na'er had joined the Tang family—and with Tang Wulin awakening his martial soul—their food expenses had skyrocketed.
What was once a struggling household now teetered on the edge of ruin.
Fortunately, the Spirit Transmission Tower provided monthly stipends and funding from its Genius Development Program.
Without that, they'd probably have been starving by now.
In Na'er's room, Tang Wulin watched curiously as she fiddled with her strange phone. "Na'er, are you chatting with Brother Jiang Chen again?"
Phones like hers weren't common in the Federation. They weren't sold publicly and could only be obtained through internal recommendation and a huge amount of Federation credits. Tang Wulin had even asked his teacher, Mang Tian, who confirmed it.
The reason? The SoulNet required Evil Eyes to maintain it, and their number was limited, so the network couldn't span the entire continent.
The Federation still hadn't broken past Douluo into space. Interference from the ambient soul power fields made normal communications useless. Only immense spiritual power could align those magnetic flows—that's what the Evil-Eyed Tyrant Clan was bred for.
As for orbital satellites, something mysterious seemed to be sealing the Douluo world. Even quasi-gods couldn't leave the planet.
They had divine mechas… yet couldn't reach outer space?
Clearly, someone—or something—had cut off technology related to space exploration. The Federation had tried several failed launches, ultimately giving up.
Na'er showed him her screen.
Her friend list had only two contacts:
[Suppress All in This Life] — Jiang Chen
and
[Charging Toward God-Tier Blacksmith] — Tang Wulin's master, Mang Tian.
After seeing Di Tian's profile picture, Na'er had been disturbed by vague memories and Jiang Chen's claim that she'd "run away from home."
So, she had blocked everyone—except Jiang Chen, just in case.
(Di Tian: painfully lost his master.)
In her chat with Jiang Chen:
Suppress All in This Life: "Eaten yet?"
Na'er: "Yes."
Suppress All in This Life: "Are you being treated well in their home? If not, come live with me. I've got a huge place, lots of food, and a cat that can do backflips."
Attached was a gif of the Evil-Eyed Saint King doing a backflip.
Na'er: "Can I bring my brother?"
Suppress All in This Life: ">:|"
The last message exchanged was seven days ago: a simple 'Are you there?' from him.
She hadn't replied since.
"That's amazing," Tang Wulin murmured, eyes shining with admiration.
After a pause, Na'er said gently, "How about I ask him to get one for you too?"
"No!" Tang Wulin refused instantly.
A man who had a phone like that had to be a high-ranking figure in the Federation—someone even more important than his master.
He didn't want Na'er owing favors for him.
He believed that if he worked hard, he could surpass such people one day and become wealthy through his own skill.
And most importantly—when Na'er had turned six, his family had taken her to awaken her martial soul.
But no martial soul had appeared.
Her family had never come to retrieve her. Tang Wulin was convinced they already knew she couldn't awaken one—and had abandoned her for it.
That thought made his blood boil.
"Don't worry, Na'er. I'm saving up for my soul spirit. Once I become a one-ring soul master and grow stronger, I'll find those who abandoned you and make them regret it!"
(Di Tian: "Achoo!")
Na'er smiled softly. "I believe you'll become strong, Brother."
"Brother, I want a lollipop."
"All right! I'll go buy you one now!"
The moment Tang Wulin left, her sweet, innocent face turned cold—like someone owed her millions.
Na'er: "Lend me money."
Suppress All in This Life: "?"
Suppress All in This Life: "How much?"
Na'er: "…"
Suppress All in This Life: "Oh~ so little Tang Wulin's going to form a soul spirit, huh?"
Suppress All in This Life: "Not lending!"
Na'er: "Why not?"
Suppress All in This Life: "You call me when you need something, ignore me when you don't—what am I, a clown?"
Na'er: "Sorry."
Suppress All in This Life: "If 'sorry' worked, why would we need cops?"
Na'er: "Please… lend me money."
In Eastsea City, inside a modest-looking villa whose interior gleamed with luxury, Jiang Chen lounged lazily on his balcony, legs crossed, basking in the sun.
It had been ages since life felt this peaceful.
Once, the God Realm had hung above his head, and he'd lived in constant fear of "righteous" justice from Tang San.
After all, he had ruined Xiao Wu beyond recovery back then—there was no reconciliation.
He'd been forced into hiding for centuries, a fugitive. But now?
Now he was free.
What a life.
What bliss.
He glanced at Na'er's message, a faint smirk curling his lips.
Even if she hadn't asked, he'd already prepared a soul spirit for Tang Wulin—a dragon-type one created solely so he could analyze the Golden Dragon King's bloodline.
He'd almost been clawed apart by Di Tian for that stunt.
While he couldn't confront Tang Wulin directly—his body held Tang San's divine consciousness, after all—there were subtler methods.
In the original timeline, Tang Wulin's ten-year spirit had evolved into dragon lineage under the Golden Dragon King's influence.
As for why Jiang Chen had allowed Tang Wulin to take Na'er away?
Because the Silver Dragon King was simply too strong. Even a fraction of her divine form retained god-king-level power.
She wasn't truly the ruler of all soul beasts—only of dragons—and someone as dangerous as her in love had once turned Di Tian's millennia of loyalty into a joke… and his corpse into her spaceship.
Jiang Chen would never count a creature with such "incredible wisdom" as an ally.
A divided Silver Dragon King was far more manageable.
If she could split into Gu Yue and Na'er, why not even more pieces?
If the Dragon God itself could split into Gold and Silver halves, Jiang Chen certainly didn't mind a few extra fragments of his own.
This world was full of brainless romantics. He feared that if the Silver Dragon King ever became whole again, she'd throw herself away entirely for love.
Better to keep her… fragmented.
First, give Tang Wulin half of her.
Then win one side and suppress the other.
Though he'd already prepared Tang Wulin's soul spirit, how could he reject a personal request from half of the Silver Dragon King?
He might as well benefit from both ends.
He wanted everything.
Na'er: "Are you lending or not?"
Suppress All in This Life: "Send me a voice note. Call me 'Brother,' and I'll lend."
Na'er nearly threw her phone across the room.
That perverted maniac!
She had sensed his malevolent aura since their first meeting—pure evil wrapped in a smirk!
Her delicate hands trembled with fury.
Na'er seethed silently.
