Chapter 32: The Evil Thought of the Rakshasa God

"Ahem!" Bibi Dong lightly coughed, interrupting the subtle "exchange of glances" between Ruo Ling and Qian Renxue.

"Qian Renxue, you still have your mission to attend to, don't you? Since you've already obtained your soul ring, you shouldn't linger here in the Star Dou Great Forest."

Bibi Dong could no longer stand watching. Irritation churned in her heart—she didn't want her prized disciple getting involved with Qian Renxue.

Qian Renxue blinked, stealing one last deep glance at Ruo Ling before turning toward Bibi Dong.

She silently looked at the woman before her, choosing not to reveal the strange resonance between their martial spirits. She simply nodded.

"Understood, Your Holiness. I'll take my leave, then," she said calmly.

Ruo Ling opened his mouth, wanting to stop her and test whether what they felt earlier had truly been a Martial Spirit Fusion reaction—but before he could speak, a chill ran down his back.

He turned carefully and met Bibi Dong's furious gaze.

Through his spiritual sight, the black haze surrounding her Soul Threads thickened visibly.

"Teacher," Ruo Ling frowned, his tone cautious. "Have you…been in contact with something unclean lately?"

Bibi Dong froze, unable to respond.

Ruo Ling's face grew serious. In the original timeline, Bibi Dong was an extraordinarily unstable and tormented woman.

But when, exactly, had her madness begun? He wasn't sure.

Since he had joined Spirit Hall a year ago, she hadn't shown any major irregularities.

Yet now, her Soul Threads were changing.

Ruo Ling searched his memory of the original story—and a name surfaced.

Or rather, a god.

The Rakshasa God.

According to the original setting, Bibi Dong had drawn the Rakshasa God's attention after returning from Slaughter City. Could she now be under its divine corruption?

"X—Xiao Ling, what do you mean by that?" Bibi Dong's voice wavered. Lately, she too had noticed unsettling changes—she lost her temper easily, her judgment clouded.

Sometimes, flashes of thought about Yu Xiaogang haunted her mind.

She had already sworn to cut all ties and forget him, but recently she often fantasized about killing him instead.

If it weren't for Ruo Ling's earlier promise of vengeance, she might have already ordered his execution.

In the original story, though Bibi Dong despised Yu Xiaogang, she never truly wanted his death—an outcome influenced by the Rakshasa's restraint.

Now, however, with Yu Xiaogang's deceit laid bare by Ruo Ling, her hatred had reached new depths.

Ruo Ling didn't fully understand the turmoil within her, but as he studied her, his suspicions solidified.

"Teacher," he said quietly, "you know my first soul skill allows me, after fusion, to see the threads of the spirit—the Soul Threads."

Bibi Dong remained silent, uncertain where he was going with this. Ghost Douluo, Hu Liena, and the others looked on curiously.

"I found some records about the Soul Threads in the library," Ruo Ling continued. "They represent the essence of a person's soul. Almost no one can see them. Their state can reflect the condition of one's spirit, mind, and even body."

He paused, then his tone grew grave.

"I looked at yours—and found them entwined with black energy. Teacher, are you certain you haven't touched something unholy?"

As his words sank in, Bibi Dong's expression flickered between denial and realization.

She understood perfectly well what he implied, just as she understood her own changes—and their source.

But she could not stop.

This was, after all, a god's inheritance.

A little corruption amounted to nothing. As long as she endured and succeeded, ascension would set everything right.

"Xiao Ling, maybe you're mistaken. I'm fine—just haven't been sleeping well," she said, shaking her head. She refused to mention the Rakshasa.

Ruo Ling studied her quietly. Her denial didn't surprise him; godhood was beyond any ordinary discussion, and he'd only been her disciple for a year.

Still, he was deeply intrigued by the darkness entwining her spirit.

"Teacher," he said finally, "may I try touching your Soul Threads? Perhaps I can ease some of the disturbance in your mind."

Bibi Dong hesitated. She knew how dangerous his martial spirit could be, yet looking into his clear, sincere eyes, she nodded.

Ruo Ling was slightly startled—he hadn't expected her to trust him so easily, given how terrifying his powers were.

Without further hesitation, he raised a hand.

Countless crimson Soul Threads unfurled from him and intertwined gently with Bibi Dong's.

She tensed instantly. The world seemed to slow; every sensation dulled, her awareness numbed.

A chilling touch spread from the depths of her soul.

Ruo Ling's eyes locked on the black tendrils coiling around her essence. He dared not invade her threads—that would be suicide. Instead, he guided one of his own to make contact with the darkness itself.

At once, a wave of unspeakable malevolence surged through the link, trying to invade his soul—only for a moment.

Scarlet light blazed from his eyes, and a shadowy figure loomed behind him.

The black aura recoiled in fear the instant it touched that red glow, dissipating like mist before a flame.

Ruo Ling's eyes narrowed—the surge of evil energy had unexpectedly strengthened his soul power.

...

God Realm — in a hidden abyss.

A hideous woman suddenly opened her eyes, frowning as if sensing something. Her sight pierced dimensions and divine barriers, falling upon her chosen inheritor.

And beside her—stood a boy.

The child's eyes glimmered with crimson shimmer, his body cloaked in darkness.

A shadow hung behind him, hazy yet discernible.

As her gaze met his, the shadow stirred—lifting its head.

At that same instant, Ruo Ling instinctively raised his own eyes toward the canopy above.

Suddenly, the forest vanished from view.

Before him appeared a monstrous woman's face, her expression twisting in shock.

Her already terrifying features contorted further in fear.

Barely moving her lips, she seemed to utter a single phrase:

"Primordial… Devil?"

The vision shattered. Ruo Ling blinked, trembling slightly—trees and daylight returned to his sight.

"Primordial Devil?" he muttered under his breath, dazed.

He didn't understand what had just happened.

Nor did he see the shadow behind him—bearing his own face—curl its lips into a faint, sinister smile.
