Chapter 31: Qian Renxue
"Teacher, two of them are Titled Douluo… and the other one…"
Ruo Ling spoke cautiously, "The last one seems to be a Holy or Light-attribute soul master."
Bibi Dong and Ghost Douluo didn't respond. They had already seen the approaching group but showed no sign of alarm.
Ruo Ling frowned slightly, confused by their calmness, and turned his gaze toward the three figures walking in their direction.
At the head walked a golden-haired woman, her beauty tinged with cold grace. The two accompanying her looked far more ordinary, though the aura they emitted was far stronger.
The golden-haired woman stepped forward, her body trembling slightly as her eyes met Bibi Dong's. "Mo—" She stopped herself mid-word and instead said, "Greetings, Your Holiness the Pope."
The two soul masters beside her bowed respectfully as well.
Ruo Ling stood dumbfounded.
Did she almost say "Mother"?
The realization struck him almost immediately—this was none other than Qian Renxue, the heir of Spirit Hall, granddaughter of the Grand Worship Qian Daoliu, daughter of Bibi Dong, and the future Angel God.
Bibi Dong's expression turned complicated. She hadn't expected to encounter her daughter here, of all places.
Sensing the aura emanating from Qian Renxue, she recognized it instantly—she had already stepped into the Soul King realm.
So little Xue had reached Soul King level already? Bibi Dong's eyes softened for a moment, mixed with pride and pain.
Every time she looked at Qian Renxue, she was reminded of the nightmare of her past, of the man she hated even in death—a hatred so deep she still wished to tear him apart.
Because of that, she could never show Qian Renxue warmth, nor openly acknowledge her as her daughter.
Her gaze hardened as she faced the girl.
Qian Renxue, meeting that icy stare, felt her heart sink in quiet sorrow.
Ruo Ling watched the exchange silently—and then noticed something strange.
In his spiritual vision, the Soul Threads surrounding Bibi Dong were wreathed by faint strands of black mist, so subtle he would have missed them if not for his heightened senses.
That dark haze appeared exactly when Bibi Dong saw Qian Renxue.
What was that? Ruo Ling had never encountered such a phenomenon before.
"You're here to obtain a soul ring?" Bibi Dong asked coldly.
"Yes," Qian Renxue replied.
"How is the plan in the Heaven Dou imperial capital progressing?"
"Only Xue Beng remains. All other princes with succession rights are dead."
"Be careful not to expose yourself."
"I understand."
…
Their conversation was brief and mechanical, utterly devoid of warmth.
Ruo Ling could tell Bibi Dong cared about her daughter but deliberately suppressed her feelings.
"Teacher, who's this big sister?"
As the tension lingered between them, Ruo Ling broke the silence.
Bibi Dong paused momentarily, then smiled faintly. "Her name is Qian Renxue, granddaughter of the Grand Worship."
Ruo Ling nodded and looked at Qian Renxue, offering a polite smile. "My name is Ruo Ling. I'm Teacher's disciple."
Qian Renxue blinked, surprised. She hadn't known Bibi Dong had taken another student.
Looking at the gentle young boy before her, she found herself at ease. His demeanor was calm, his face handsome and kind, giving her a strange and unfamiliar sense of comfort.
Standing nearby, Hu Liena watched the exchange with growing unease, instinctively clutching a corner of Ruo Ling's robe.
"Can I call you Sister Xue?" Ruo Ling said with a bright, innocent smile.
Before Qian Renxue could respond, he felt a sudden sharp pain in his waist. When he turned, Hu Liena was glaring resentfully at him.
Ruo Ling twitched the corner of his mouth but said nothing, turning his attention back to Qian Renxue.
He genuinely liked her.
In fact, among the many figures of the Douluo world, Qian Renxue was one of the few Ruo Ling truly sympathized with.
Because of her parents' bitter fate, her childhood had been devoid of love.
To gain her mother's approval, she infiltrated the Heaven Dou Empire disguised as a noblewoman, living under that identity for twenty years—only to fail in the end.
Even after inheriting the Angel God's divinity through Qian Daoliu's sacrifice, her godhood was later stripped away.
In the end, Qian Renxue lost everything.
As Ruo Ling quietly studied her, Qian Renxue was also observing him.
The boy exuded a calm warmth that naturally drew others closer. His refined looks only deepened that impression, though something about him unsettled her.
After a moment's thought, Qian Renxue smiled gently. "Of course you can. If you want, you may call me Sister Xue."
"Are you stationed in the Heaven Dou imperial city?" Ruo Ling asked again.
"Yes," she answered.
"Then may I come visit you someday?" he asked, his eyes fixed on hers.
Qian Renxue froze, puzzled by the strange intensity in his gaze.
There was something possessive hidden in those crimson eyes, something unsettling. Had he not looked so young—barely nine years old—she might have scolded him outright.
Beside them, Hu Liena's lips curled into a pout, clearly unhappy.
Even Bibi Dong appeared slightly taken aback, her own feelings a mix of surprise and complexity.
Over the past year, she had come to understand that Ruo Ling was nowhere near as harmless as he seemed.
Outwardly kind to everyone, he still carried an unapproachable coldness beneath that smile—a maturity far beyond his years.
She had never questioned it. As long as he remained her disciple, she didn't care what secrets he hid.
But now, he was showing interest—toward her own daughter.
"That's enough, Xiao Ling," Bibi Dong finally said sternly. "Qian Renxue has her mission. Don't bother her."
Ruo Ling pouted but kept his eyes on Qian Renxue.
Compared to Hu Liena's sultry beauty, he was far more drawn to Qian Renxue's divine purity.
A dangerous desire stirred within him—the urge to defile that holiness.
It was the whisper of his martial spirit—Desire's Demon.
His fascination with Qian Renxue was half lust, half the instinctive pull of that devilish fusion deep within him.
Feeling his burning gaze, Qian Renxue frowned slightly, discomfort creeping in.
Then, unexpectedly, a shadowy aura began to manifest around Ruo Ling's body.
Both he and Qian Renxue froze.
Their eyes met—and both sensed something strange.
Ruo Ling suddenly understood why his martial spirit reacted this way.
A Martial Spirit Fusion Skill!
The Desire Demon within him resonated—with Qian Renxue's Seraphim.
Demon and angel—two forces born as enemies—sharing a connection.
Qian Renxue was equally stunned, feeling her martial spirit tremble violently.
She recognized the signs of a potential fusion ability. But from her Seraphim spirit came an unfamiliar feeling—fear.
The holy six-winged angel trembled… in fear.
What kind of martial spirit did this boy possess?
Shock rippled through her heart.
Since childhood, Qian Daoliu had always told her—the Seraphim lineage was the mightiest on the continent, rivaled only by the Sea God of Seagod Island.
The Sea God's martial spirit…
But the boy before her clearly wasn't the Sea God.
