Chapter 59: A Perilous Battle
The rain poured harder and harder. Whitebeard and Garp, Golden Lion and Sengoku—each pair clashed fiercely, their slashes and shockwaves tearing through the storm-filled sky.
Cannons roared between Navy warships and pirate vessels.
Tuck and his crew saw Luo Han and Cole being surrounded and wanted to help, but every attempt to approach the battlefield was repelled by slashes or shockwaves. They could only watch from a distance.
"Captain! What do we do?"
"Yeah! We can't get close enough to help Boss Luo Han!"
Tuck frowned, listening to his crew's anxious voices. Then, as if making a grand decision, he turned and said, "Steer the ship farther away. Only I—the man destined to own the world and who cannot die—can save Boss Luo Han now!"
He transformed using his Devil Fruit. A towering ten-meter-tall flying mantis appeared before the crew.
"Captain Tuck! So cool!"
"With Captain Tuck here, Boss Luo Han will totally smash the Navy! Haha!"
The crew cheered, their confidence surging as they gazed at Tuck's fearsome form.
"Haha! Just wait here for my triumphant return!" Tuck declared confidently.
"Don't come over, Tuck! Without Haki, you'll only drag Cole and me down."
Just as Tuck was about to charge in, Luo Han's voice echoed in his ears. It was a message manipulated through Kyoka Suigetsu, altered to sound like Luo Han's voice.
Tuck froze. He looked around in confusion. Only he had heard it. Was it an illusion?
"It's not a hallucination. It's one of my Devil Fruit abilities. Stay put. Just protect your crew—Cole and I can handle this."
This time, Tuck was sure—it was Luo Han speaking directly to him.
"Understood, Boss! … I'll definitely learn Haki one day," Tuck replied, slightly dejected, now fully aware of how crucial Haki really was.
"Captain Tuck, why'd you stop?!"
"Could it be…?"
Seeing Tuck ready to launch, then suddenly freeze and start muttering to himself, the crew grew confused.
"You idiots! Don't you know how strong Boss Luo Han is? He told me not to go. My job is to protect you all!" Tuck roared, silencing the crew, his mantis form as terrifying as ever.
"Boss Luo Han is really something else!"
"Yeah! Even now, he still wants to protect us!"
The crew was once again filled with admiration for Luo Han's greatness and selflessness.
"But… shouldn't we try to help Boss Luo Han anyway?" one timid pirate asked, his voice trembling.
Everyone turned to glare at him. It was as if they'd all asked, Who is this guy? Is he a spy?
The poor pirate nearly collapsed from the pressure—until Tuck saved him.
"Don't worry. Boss Luo Han told me—they've got this handled."
"Ah, that's a relief! Of course Boss Luo Han is super strong."
This time, the nameless pirate quickly got on the crowd's good side by parroting the right sentiment.
Good lad, the others seemed to say with approving looks.
Back on the battlefield, Luo Han finished briefing Tuck. The real fight was about to begin.
Black-cloaked CP0 agents and Zephyr had formed a tight formation. Zephyr faced Cole , while the other three surrounded Luo Han.
Luo Han realized they must have studied his last battle with Zephyr. They were trying to separate him and Cole , to defeat them individually.
"Begin, Vice Admiral Zephyr," the tear-mask agent said coldly.
Tch. Zephyr sneered, but still launched a punch straight at Cole . The three agents charged at Luo Han.
Whoosh! In a flash, Luo Han repositioned himself on Cole 's chest. Standing on Cole 's massive ten-meter-tall body like a living ornament, they moved as one—this demanded absolute synchronization.
Let's go, Cole ! Luo Han thought.
Psychokinesis infused his body and extended to cover Cole .
Zoom! In his half-beast form, Cole 's speed, boosted by Luo Han's power, shot up dramatically.
He was the first to reach Zephyr, even faster than the agents.
Clang! Zephyr reacted swiftly, matching Cole 's punch blow-for-blow.
But while he blocked Cole , he didn't block Luo Han, who had moved in sync. A psychic punch struck Zephyr in the stomach, sending him flying.
Cole immediately sidestepped—shing! whoosh!—dodging a Rankyaku slash and a flying Shigan. He countered with a punch, clashing with the tear-mask agent.
Clang! Crack! Crack! Invisible black lightning burst between their fists—one large, one small.
Boom! After a brief exchange, Luo Han and Cole retreated.
What a strange ability, the tear-mask agent thought, eyeing Luo Han. His psychokinesis had disrupted the other agents' attacks—otherwise, Cole would've been hit for sure.
"I told you, his ability is annoying," Zephyr said as he rejoined the group using Moonwalk, standing with the three CP0 agents again.
The tear-mask agent studied Luo Han carefully, brows furrowed.
It doesn't seem like that rumored ability… but we'll know for sure once we fight at close range.
"Zephyr, keep the big one occupied. We'll find a way to separate the boy," he ordered.
"Fine. Just get that annoying brat out of my way," Zephyr grunted.
"Go!" The four shouted in unison and charged in.
Luo Han's eyes sharpened. Let's fight then! He and Cole charged forward to meet them.
As they neared, Luo Han's psychokinetic strike went first.
Bang! The four opponents simultaneously used Armament Haki punches to disperse his psychic force.
Luo Han's eyes widened. Trouble. It was the first time someone had preemptively sensed and countered his telekinetic attack.
Clang! Boom! While Luo Han was still processing this, Cole collided with Zephyr head-on and kicked toward the smiling-mask agent to his right.
Meanwhile, the tear-mask and square-mask agents reached Luo Han, both striking at once.
Clang! Their twin Haki-coated fists slammed into Luo Han's psychic barrier.
Crack! Crack! The barrier cracked under the pressure, splitting into fractures.
In just a second—it shattered completely.
And their fists were about to hit Luo Han directly.
