Cherreads

Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 : Raizen, there's nothing wrong with you."

Years in the Root Division had stained her hands with blood and exposed her to darkness hidden beneath Konoha's glory.

She had long since learned to cherish children like Raizen.....innocent, fragile, untainted.

He returned with the tea.

"Please enjoy."

Thank you," Mikoto said, sipping politely even though the tea tasted cheap and bitter.

Nonō lifted her cup but did not drink yet.

Her green eyes, framed by circular glasses, observed every twitch of Raizen's expression.

Then she began asking questions.

Casual ones.

Personal ones.

Odd ones.

Questions that appeared unrelated to medicine....but were, in truth, subtle probes designed to reveal lies, inconsistencies, or signs of being a spy.

Raizen answered them one by one with the perfect balance of honesty, nervousness, and youthful awkwardness.

Nonō used subtle genjutsu-like techniques.....barely noticeable...to increase psychological pressure.

Mikoto sat quietly, staring at the tea's reflection of the ceiling.

Old wooden boards.

Cracks in the beams.

A flickering bulb.

A moth fluttered near the light...before a small black spider emerged silently and bit into it.

A nearly invisible web glistened faintly around the bulb.

Mikoto muttered under her breath, "So careless…"

When she turned back, Nonō had finished the verbal assessment and was now using special medical instruments to inspect Raizen's eyes...the newly awakened Sharingan being the primary concern.

And thus, the second wave of investigation quietly began.

Raizen, there's nothing wrong with you."

Yakushi Nonō concluded, her faint green chakra fading away.

Raizen lifted his gaze, still curious:

"But I heard that normally, both eyes awaken the Sharingan together."

"Exceptions always exist," Nonō replied calmly.

"I see

Raizen lowered his head. He already understood the answer.

In the original accounts, a similar situation occurred with Sasuke.

During his battle with White, one of his Sharingan evolved into a two-tomoe eye while the other remained a single-tomoe, creating a rare one-two pattern. Such cases were extremely uncommon.

Nonō carefully sealed her medical instruments into a scroll, her eyes flicking briefly to Raizen's slight frame, noting the intense black eyes watching her.

This form of Raizen was unfamiliar. She was more accustomed to the other version of him.....back when he had been cloaked in a white hood and black nun-like attire.

Every casual movement had drawn out mature, curvaceous contours....the image of a saintly, maternal figure.

At the same time, Raizen was cataloging more information about her.

Medical team captain.

Elite Root Division spy.

Her espionage skills had been so exceptional that even after retirement, Danzo Shimura personally pressured her into continued service for Root.

Raizen never imagined showing off in front of Nonō. He simply answered whatever she asked.

As for whether he was a spy…

That was entirely the Cloud Village's attempt to recruit him.

Uchiha Raizen had yet to respond. He hadn't performed any espionage missions.

Would he in the future?

That was a problem for another day.

"By the way, Nonō-sama," Raizen suddenly looked up, curiosity sparkling in his tone.

"The green chakra you just displayed.....is it the same type Lady Tsunade uses?"

"Yes," she nodded. "It's medical chakra.

For Konoha's medical-nin, the chakra often takes on a pale green hue externally

As she spoke, a strand of golden hair fell across her face.

When a medical ninja uses healing techniques, the chakra often becomes pale green....Tsunade's techniques being the most emblematic.

Noticing Raizen still staring at the sealed scroll, Nonō asked:

"Are you interested in this?"

She already knew of Tsunade inspecting Raizen's Sharingan before.

She guessed that Tsunade had performed a medical-ninjutsu test, leaving a lasting impression in Raizen's mind.

Raizen's gaze shifted to the scroll she had just stored. Thoughtfully, he asked:

"Can I learn these medical ninjutsu?"

Nonō blinked, slightly surprised at the sudden request.

She studied Raizen carefully. Though his body was thin, his skeletal structure was robust. With proper training, he could become an excellent taijutsu ninja.

"Raizen, you'd be better off focusing on taijutsu," she advised.

"Taijutsu ninja?"

Mikoto glanced at Raizen, noting his subtle Yotsuki traits.

She didn't know exactly where these manifested, but they were likely innate gifts or abilities beyond ordinary humans

.

But… perhaps there will be other clan members with similar traits. If so, I could—like Nonō-sama and Lady Tsunade.....diagnose and help them," Raizen said quietly, a hint of disappointment in his tone. "I guess… I still can't do it yet…"
