Neither the Uchiha nor the Cloud were truly his home.
The Uchiha were cautious because of the stigma of past incidents.
They didn't want more outsiders with Uchiha blood distancing themselves from Konoha, so they handled Raizen carefully....not rejecting, but not yet embracing.
Cloud was different.
Cloud saw him as a tool.
A bloodline resource.
A future breeding machine to secure Sharingan power for the village.
Their intentions were darker, rooted in their mafia-like clan structure.....
the same nature documented in the Book of Formations and other official materials.
Raizen gently brushed a thumb over the scroll's rough paper.
His eyes returned to Samui's silhouette, now tinged with a deeper, more calculating glint.
If both sides wished to use him.....
Then he had every right to use them back.
For the next several days, Raizen's life became a simple routine.
Academy classes.
Training after school.
Then home.
A quietly burning discipline.
On the sixth day, he returned to the sushi shop.
"Ni...Welcome back, honored guest. Are you here for the squid sushi again?"
Samui asked with her usual calmness.
But Raizen didn't give the same answer as last time.
He stepped forward slightly, lowering his voice....
"Miss Samui…"
his tone chilled to a quiet blade,
"…you wouldn't want to be the reason I turn hostile toward the Cloud, would you?"
Samui froze for a moment, her pale blue eyes flickering with confusion.
What was Uchiha Raizen talking about?
Because of her, he would fall out with the Hidden Cloud?
Had she ever done something that serious?
"This isn't a place to talk," Raizen said quietly.
Samui could only bury her doubts for now and lead Raizen upstairs to a private room on the second floor of the sushi shop.
The door slid shut behind them, leaving only the two of them in the room.
"Raizen… what did you mean just now?" Samui finally asked, her voice calm but cautious.
She had heard enough rumors about the Uchiha clan.....extreme temperaments, twisted logic, unpredictability.
Had Raizen become like that after returning to his clan?
Raizen didn't answer immediately. Instead, he casually dropped a bomb in a relaxed tone, as if commenting on the weather.
"I heard everything you said on the third floor that day."
Samui's pupils shrank sharply.
"...What?"
She had clearly seen him leave the area. She had checked to make sure no one was nearby before she spoke to Samedo.
Could he really have heard all of that… with a Sharingan that only had one tomoe?
She looked at Raizen again.
He was just a child who had barely entered the Academy, a lucky brat who awakened the Uchiha bloodline by chance… or so she thought.
Raizen still didn't directly answer. Instead, he raised a brow and silently mouthed a few words.
The exact words she said that day:
"Yotsuki ....that boy probably won't want to return to the Cloud."
Samui stiffened.
She forced herself to say, "That… that was just a casual remark."
"Your casual remark," Raizen said, "was enough to chill my heart. I had been seriously considering returning to the Cloud.
But I didn't expect someone to question my loyalty behind my back.
Are you implying that the Uchiha, or even Konoha, holds a higher place in my heart than the Cloud?"
Samui's face instantly lost some color.
Raizen's logic was stretched thin....
so exaggerated it was almost unreasonable.
But no matter how unreasonable,
she had said those words.
Even if she believed Raizen didn't care much about the Cloud, she still had no right to say such a thing.
Some things weighed nothing until placed on the scale.....and then they suddenly weighed a thousand pounds.
If higher-ups ever learned that because of her words, Raizen decided not to return, even if the chance was only 1%… she would never escape punishment.
And not just her.
She still had a younger brother.....Atsui.
He would also be affected.
He was her last remaining family.
"Whatever the case," Raizen continued, "I was born in the Land of Lightning.
And you were sent by the Hidden Cloud to gain my trust. Yet you showed none.
If I really return, won't everyone whisper behind my back that I'm a spy from Konoha? How could I dare return?"
