Chapter 22 - Chapter 399: Darkrai’s Defeat

Crack! Crack! Crack~

The moment the nail pierced, Dialga instantly felt a strange sensation coursing through his body.

It was as if a huge hole had been dug out of him, his stamina constantly draining away.

Even though he used the power of time to slow down the process, he still couldn't stop it.

Dialga's mouth twitched for a long while, he couldn't help but feel a dull ache in his core.

This move was agonizing enough.

But there was something even worse.

Once the rampaging energy inside him finally subsided, he immediately gathered the power of Dragon Pulse, intending to stop Spiritomb from following up with Pain Split.

But at that very moment, Garchomp had already completed its Dragon Dance, without hesitation, it soared into the sky and slashed toward Dialga with Dragon Claw.

BANG!

With a thunderous crash, the Dragon Pulse Dialga had just begun to charge in his mouth was shredded apart by Garchomp's claws.

Dialga had no choice but to grit his teeth and focus on the Mega Garchomp before him, now stacked with two layers of Dragon Dance.

Spiritomb grinned wickedly, the power of Pain Split had finally finished charging.

An invisible thread of power connected it and Dialga, their life forces intertwining and blending.

Dialga's vitality flowed like a flood through that thread, draining rapidly toward the other end.

Crack!

With a faint sound, the thin line snapped under the force of Dialga's vast energy and divine power, but by that time, about a tenth of his stamina had already been drained.

Dialga felt like cursing out loud.

If he'd known earlier, he would've just hidden inside Darkrai's Dark Void.

Now, under Spiritomb and Garchomp's alternating attacks, Dialga's stamina was depleting at an alarming rate.

In just one short hour, less than half remained.

Dialga sighed helplessly and once again began to gather the power of time.

["Damn it… looks like it's time to send these pests back again… Feels even harder than fighting Palkia, for crying out loud."]

A crimson light flared out from Dialga's body, and the river of time reappeared in the air above him.

Dialga fixed his gaze on it, opened his jaws wide, and bit onto one end of the time stream, planning to swing that section straight down at Garchomp.

Cynthia swiftly recalled her Pokémon, letting Lucario hurl her beside Garchomp to avoid being scattered by the temporal current.

Suddenly, the sky, previously enveloped by Darkrai's Dark Void, erupted in an explosion. Darkrai's figure came plummeting down, falling freely from the heavens.

Cynthia's eyes flashed with surprise, but she quickly understood.

Her team still had chances to rotate and coordinate defense, so despite all the time loops, they hadn't completely exhausted their energy.

But Darkrai was different.

He had fought alone from beginning to end.

Even before Cynthia arrived, he'd held out two-on-one for quite some time.

["Garchomp, see if you can cut through the time stream!"]

'Cut through the river of time?'

Dialga's lips twisted into a mocking smirk.

'There's no need for you to cut anything.'

'Even if you wanted to run, I wouldn't let you.'

'I may not be able to outlast you alone, but with Palkia's help? You don't stand a chance.'

"ROAR!", Dialga bellowed, and the section of time river in midair suddenly vanished.

He exchanged a glance with Palkia, then the terrifying powers of time and space intertwined, erupting together toward the Garchomp right before them.

"Protect!"

Cynthia's pupils contracted, and she shouted instinctively.

Mega Garchomp's arms glowed with a brilliant white light, forming a shimmering shield in front of itself.

But the shield only lasted five seconds before countless cracks appeared, then it shattered completely with a deafening crash.

BOOM!

Garchomp's body was blasted downward at high speed, slamming into the ground.

To begin with, battling the gods of time and space had only been possible thanks to Cynthia's precise battle rhythm, Lucario's endurance, taking two of Dialga's hits, and Garchomp's Dragon Dance advantage.

The entire fight had been like walking a tightrope.

But now… with their ally Darkrai defeated, that tightrope snapped.

Using the last of its strength, Garchomp hurled Cynthia toward Spiritomb, who hadn't sustained too much damage, then dropped to one knee, struggling to recover its strength.

Seeing both Garchomp and Darkrai fall in succession, the entire town fell silent.

Everyone stared at Cynthia in disbelief, unable to accept that their Champion could lose.

The twin dragons of time and space let out maddened roars, and countless eerie red cracks spread across the town.

Their divine pressure came crashing down like a storm, many of the weaker humans and Pokémon collapsed instantly under the crushing force.

The entire town shook violently. The clouds and sun above vanished, the sky turning pitch black.

Only the outskirts of the town still glimmered faintly with red and blue light.

All of Alamos Town had been dragged into another dimension by the furious twin gods.

The laws of reality within the town twisted. Meteorites fell from the sky, and spatial rifts randomly opened everywhere.

The violent storm of space-time ravaged the land, nearly reducing every building to dust.

"Mommy, I'm scared!"

In the near-apocalyptic scene, a little girl trembled in her mother's arms, staring fearfully at the blackened sky.

In front of them, a man with a Raticate by his side also showed fear in his eyes. But more than that, there was a desperate resolve.

He exchanged a look with his Raticate, then carefully placed his Poké Balls, communicator, and ID card into his wife's hands before stepping forward with trembling steps.

"Devin, what are you doing?"

The woman's eyes were red, tears streaming down her face as she looked at her husband.

"I… I'm going to help Lady Cynthia."

"Cynthia's already lost! If you go, you'll just die!"

"I know it's suicide, but…", The man paused, his voice choking.

"But behind me… is my whole world!"

Similar scenes played out again and again. Hundreds, thousands of adult trainers and their Pokémon running toward the center of town.

Raticates, Butterfrees, Arboks, Nidorans… Perhaps in normal times they were nothing remarkable, but in the face of rampaging gods, they now surged forward as a single, roaring tide.

Every trainer and Pokémon had the same look in their eyes, determination, and the courage to face death head-on.

Together, they charged toward the twin gods of time and space.

Seeing the mortal Pokémon swarming the ground, Dialga's eyes flared red with fury. Rage boiled in his chest.

'This girl with the powerful Garchomp is one thing, but these weak humans? How dare they try to interfere in my battle with Palkia?'

Thunder roared around him, spreading outward in a web of lightning that swept across the entire town.
