Chapter 21 - Chapter 398: When Disaster Strikes, Everyone Flies for Themselves?

Along with the white light in Cynthia's hand, a pot-like creature appeared before her.

"Flower~"

Though Spiritomb's level and strength were no match for Dialga, not a trace of fear showed on its face.

In the last battle, it had already tested its power on Dialga.

The techniques Axel had taught, while somewhat limited against Dialga, weren't entirely useless either.

As long as they were used properly, they could still place considerable restrictions on Dialga.

["Damn it!"]

Seeing Spiritomb, half of the crimson light in Dialga's eyes faded away, and the intense flow of time energy dissipated.

'Shit, how did I forget about this thing?'

Last time, he'd thought Garchomp's condition was already deteriorating badly and planned to finish it off with a powerful time-based move.

But never in his wildest dreams did he expect that girl to suddenly pull out this damned flower pot.

And that pot was nasty as hell.

Sleep, paralysis, confusion, curses, pain split, during its one-minute appearance last time, practically fifty-nine and a half seconds were spent spamming control skills.

Helplessly, Dialga had no choice but to give up the chance to kill Garchomp and once again send Cynthia and her team back through time.

"Spiritomb, use Curse!"

Spiritomb nodded, swiftly gathering ghost-type energy into a spectral nail, placing it above its head.

That move was quite strange. It didn't attack the enemy directly, but rather traded its own stamina to lay a curse upon the foe.

Once the nail pierced the head, it would continuously sap the opponent's health.

Hearing Cynthia's command, Dialga couldn't help but suck his teeth in annoyance.

Last time, she had opened with that exact same move, and he had even mocked her for it.

'I'm the mighty God of Time, what effect could your little trick possibly have on me?'

'Even Giratina wouldn't dare use such a move against me in battle.'

Hurting the enemy eight hundred only to wound yourself ten thousand, ridiculous.

But he absolutely hadn't expected... that she'd immediately follow it up with Pain Split, turning it into a pure torture combo.

"ROAR!"

Dialga let out a deafening roar, his terrifying power compressing air and time itself, blasting forward in fury.

The air split open instantly, revealing a huge stretch of crimson fractures as the power of time spread out, engulfing the entire town.

Spiritomb's movements froze, the ghostly nail it had just positioned above its head not even having time to drive itself in.

Dialga curled his lip in disdain.

The next second… he turned tail and bolted.

From his experience, it was absolutely impossible to take down Cynthia's team in a short time.

But that didn't mean he couldn't run.

A bunch of mortals, not even gods, wanted to restrain him?

'Keep dreaming!'

So what if they had the Red Chain?

By the time they got close, he'd already be long gone.

As he fled, Dialga's gaze swept over the Dark Void swirling around Darkrai, and his mouth curved into a smirk.

Boom!

At that moment, a spatial rift suddenly appeared. Above the town, a translucent barrier emerged, slamming Dialga in midair and sending him tumbling head over tail.

Dialga's mouth twitched, his voice trembling with outrage.

["Palkia, you damn turtle bastard, setting up a barrier to screw me over!"]

To his shock, he realized Palkia had, at some point, already set up an impenetrable spatial barrier that now enclosed the entire Solaceon Town.

If it were any other time, he'd be more than happy to have a death match with Palkia before leaving this place.

But the problem was, the Red Chain was coming, and Cynthia was still here stirring up trouble.

Without a moment's hesitation, Dialga once again began gathering the power of time, attempting to send Cynthia back to her previous temporal node.

"ROAR!"

With a bellow, a torrent of golden energy erupted from Dialga's mouth, the power of Roar of Time surging forth.

The golden flow of time intertwined with the rich violet dragon energy, and everything around seemed to freeze.

Garchomp's dark-gold eyes flashed with resolve. Without hesitation, it leapt before its teammates, gathering draconic power in its mouth, forming a blazing Draco Meteor that shot toward the heavens.

The golden time-stream and the radiant meteor storm collided midair, exploding into a storm of energy fragments.

Throughout the entire town came the sounds of shattering glass and the cries of frightened elders and children.

When a champion-level Pokémon clashes with a deity, even a single casual blow can devastate an entire town.

If they fought with their full power, the scene would be terrifying beyond imagination.

Almost every fragment that struck the ground created a massive crimson crater.

When the Roar of Time finally ended, time within the town had already descended into chaos.

The clock tower above the gym swung wildly before collapsing entirely amid the warped time.

Someone glanced out the window, and in an instant, their black hair turned silver-white, aging decades in a heartbeat.

A burly man shielding his family at the door suddenly shrank into an infant, bawling on the ground.

The town square closest to Dialga had even transformed into a towering forest, as if reverting to some ancient form from centuries ago.

"I was almost sent back again!"

Cynthia finally came to her senses amid Dialga's temporal shockwave, and upon seeing the devastation around the town, fury flashed in her eyes.

As a regional Champion, nothing enraged Cynthia more than seeing someone treat human lives as if they were nothing.

Even if that someone was a god.

"Garchomp! While Dialga's in recovery lag from using Roar of Time, use Dragon Dance again!"

After unleashing Draco Meteor, Garchomp's special attack had already dropped from the recoil.

Facing Dialga, Cynthia wisely chose to stack more Dragon Dance buffs instead.

After all, Mega Garchomp's strongest trait was its physical attack—might as well double down on that advantage.

"ROAR!!"

After Garchomp's response, Cynthia turned toward Lucario again. She frowned slightly, but ultimately said nothing.

To buy Garchomp time earlier, Lucario had already sustained heavy injuries.

"In that case… it's Spiritomb's turn."

"Use the power of Curse on him!"

Dialga's pupils shrank, trying to forcibly suppress the chaotic surge of energy in his body caused by using Roar of Time.

But it was already too late.

Mist swirled around Spiritomb as countless eye-like runes on its body revealed eerie, wicked smiles.

On either side of it, two clusters of ghostly energy appeared,.one forming into a nail, the other into a hammer.

Crack!

With a sharp sound, the nail was driven straight into Spiritomb's own head.

Dialga's chest ached as though the hammer had struck him directly.

'For god's sake, stop self-harming already!'
