Chapter 34 - The Sacred Tree

In the demonic continent, the Demonic Saint had already told the Demon King of a vision and a warning from the gods, and left the matter to him to inform and gather the other rulers and warn them. After asking his king's permission, he returned to his land to contemplate.

The Demon King asked him about the reason for his contemplation, and the saint replied that he was troubled by the crow that appeared in his sudden dream and by the way it laughed. He had truly tried to see what race it belonged to or what power in the world it was, but he could not.

When the king heard his words, he thought for a moment, rubbed his massive hands—hands as large as those of the giants—and said:

"Do you suspect it is a forgotten race that intends to awaken and take part in the coming war?"

The saint did not answer him. Instead, he looked to the sky and said:

"I will speak with our Ruler, my lord."

The Demon King looked at him with his huge eyes filled with a strange black mist and said:

"If you are going to contemplate and question the Ruler, how long will this take, O Saint?"

The Demonic Saint looked at him and said in a voice accompanied by uncertainty:

"I do not know, my lord, but it is certain that I will see something, and at least learn something of the truth before the war occurs."

When the king heard that, he closed his eyes and said:

"Then go and carry out your contemplations, O Saint."

The saint bowed after the king said that and went away.

When the Demon King sensed the saint's departure, he opened his eyes slightly and said to himself:

Who could also take part in the war with such danger other than the giants?

From the saint's words, the king knew that those who would take part in the war were the forgotten giants, the extinct angel race, and some other races, but the most dangerous among them were the giants and the angels. He did not know the matter of that black crow, so he thought for a while and reached a strange conclusion: that the coming war might not be a struggle over who is the strongest, but over who will remain and whose lineage will continue.

The Demon King thought about this and felt that his desire to seize the continent of Mira in the coming war would be difficult. Even if the dragons were excluded, there were also giants, angels, and other hidden races that would appear, in addition to that crow the saint had spoken of.

The king did not know the truth of the crow or what it indicated, but he sensed that it would be one of the forces that would appear strongly in the coming war.

The Demon King smiled and said to himself:

If I could bring it to become an ally of the demonic continent and the demon race, that would make the demon race take the lead in the war.

The Demon King thought about the races the dragons had allowed to live in the continent of Mira, and how they used them on the front lines or as vast numbers to confront the demon hordes. The more he thought about it, the more he envied the dragons for that. He thought of seizing any race that might appear in the coming war first and making it his ally, especially the race of that crow spoken of in the prophecy.

He did not know what that race was, but he knew from the saint's words that it was a powerful race or a powerful force that would appear in that war, and he wanted to be the first to benefit from and ally with it, for he had learned this from the dragon race.

Far from the demonic continent, in the continent of Mira, on the land of the elves, the Elven Saintess was visiting the sacred tree, as she did every day. But as soon as she approached, she felt something strange about it, so she ran to it immediately to check on the tree. She found its color pale and its leaves falling.

The saintess did not know the reason, but she tried to supply the tree with spiritual energy. However, the moment the Elven Saintess touched the tree, she saw a terrifying vision: dense, frightening black clouds in the sky, lightning sparks bursting from them, feathers falling from the clouds like rain, and fire throughout the forest where she lived.

When the saintess saw that, she wanted to scream, but before she could, she heard a strange voice from the sky, as if it were speaking to her, saying:

"You are the reason for the annihilation of your race, O Saintess. You should have listened to my advice and cooperated with us and chosen to join our ranks. And now look at the result of your wrong choice: the destruction of your people and your entire race."

As soon as the saintess heard the words and the murderous intent within the clouds, she wanted to reply or speak, but she was pulled out of the vision quickly, without speaking or understanding what was happening.

When she felt that she had exited the vision and that the dread and the voice had vanished, she fell to her knees on the ground from the intensity of her fear, murmuring as she tried to catch her breath:

"What is happening? What was that?"

The saintess took some time to regain her composure and calm herself a little, then she looked at the sacred tree of her race and said:

"Is this a prophecy from the future, O sacred tree?"

The saintess did not feel any response from the sacred tree, but she sensed that the tree had used its power to show her glimpses of the future to warn her, and that was why its condition had become like that.

She looked at the sacred tree and its falling leaves, came out of her thoughts, and hurried to nourish the tree with her spiritual energy. She called upon all the powerful elves in the land of the elves to go immediately to the sacred tree, for something of utmost importance had occurred.

As the Elven Saintess sent that message and nourished the tree with her spiritual energy, she tried to recall what she had seen and to understand what the tree had been warning her about, who that voice in the clouds was, and which decision she would make wrongly that would put her race in danger.
