Orion walked close to them, eyes on Nomu. "Pull back, I'll handle this one myself."
'What did he just say…' Todoroki had to take a double take at his hearing.
"What did you say, bastard? Do you think you're some sort of big shot to come here ordering me like that?" Bakugo erupted.
Both Aizawa and Izuku didn't say anything immediately, their heads once again shifting back to Nomu, who was slowly healing, and then back to the wounds on Nomu which were specifically done by Orion's golden attacks.
A bit of doubt clouded Aizawa's mind. The boy who appeared out of nowhere was not a UA student; he didn't even know who he was. However, Aizawa knew that until All Might and the other heroes arrived, he had to save everyone.
No matter whether the kid was from UA or his student or not… he wasn't supposed to put his life on the line.
However, it was also true that only Orion's golden attacks were doing any significant damage to the Nomu, and they did need him.
After making up his mind, Aizawa finally spoke. "I refuse. It's too dangerous," he said with complete seriousness and a firm tone.
Orion clicked his tongue at these stubborn characters. "Tch… listen, I know it's dangerous. However, right now only my attacks are slowing down his healing. I can't use those long-range golden attacks for long; they take too much energy. I can use a similar attack at close range. Just let me have a go at him. If you think I'm in trouble, then be my guest to butt in.
"You also know that I have a way to heal myself if I need it, right?" Orion grumbled, looking straight at Aizawa, ignoring everyone else.
Aizawa paused for a second, recalling the one healing potion he had on him which the boy gave him.
Roar…
Nomu's roar came, making everyone tense.
Orion gritted his teeth, getting anxious. "Come on, I won't be able to fight my way if you guys are lingering nearby… come provide support when needed…" Orion shouted.
Aizawa paused, his mind working a thousand miles a second before finally nodding. "Fine… however, be careful. And we will come in the moment we see you in danger…"
"Aizawa, you can't be serious, right?" Bakugo immediately showed his dissatisfaction.
Aizawa didn't answer. As a pro hero, he shouldn't let the boy fight that villain alone. However, if the boy really had a way to fight against that Nomu, then he wished to know.
His hands curled a bit tighter at the healing potion Orion gave him, ready to use it at a moment's notice. This was a part he wished to know what the boy had in store, and there was no other option at hand.
Orion smirked and, without any words, turned towards the Nomu, who was half healed by now.
'Tck… that took longer than I wanted.' He could have fought alongside them; however, he needed space for proper dodging and sidestepping when dealing with Nomu. Any hindrance in dodging would be lethal to him.
Orion took a deep breath in, his heart beating faster with the anticipation of the upcoming fight. He was going in with a true soul's prayer mindset.
"As long as I dodge in time, I can win… no matter how long it takes."
"Marika… remind me the incantation again…" He moved forward, slowly taking out the Uchigatana from his sheath. Raising his sword up high in the air, he pointed it towards the sky.
Marika was ready. She immediately started speaking.
[Hear me, O Order everlasting.]
"Hear me, O Order everlasting."
[By law unbroken and light untainted, let this blade be bound to grace.]
"By law unbroken and light untainted, let this blade be bound to grace."
[Clothe steel in holy flame and thunder, that it may judge the impure and strike true.]
"Clothe steel in holy flame and thunder, that it may judge the impure and strike true."
[Order's—]
"Blade…"
When everyone who heard his shouting this random incantation felt like the boy had lost it, they were baffled when suddenly a golden lightning descended down from the sky, breaking the ceiling of USJ, directly at Orion's sword, engulfing it with radiant golden light.
Izuku and the other students' eyes widened, seeing the godly display in front of them in awe. Aizawa, on the other hand, frowned. He didn't feel like that power was from a quirk; it felt different.
Orion smirked, seeing the incantation working on the first try. He was glad it was easy enough. Marika didn't have to hear his thoughts to know he was thinking of something absurdly blasphemous.
"All right then, let's end this one and for all, shall we." Orion started walking towards the Nomu, intending to end this fight all by himself.
Nomu lunged first.
The monster moved like a missile, the ground detonating beneath its feet as it crossed the distance in a heartbeat.
It had healed to the point that it could move around almost closer to its original speed now. This might have been avoided if those stubborn pairs of teacher and students had just done what he asked them.
Orion did not hesitate, though. By now he had an accurate understanding of Nomu's innate speed and move set, which was fast and mostly basic hand-to-hand brawling. He easily dodge-rolled beneath the swinging arm, not caring about getting hit, only to match the frame just right, feeling displaced air tear at his back as the fist missed him by inches. He came up low, blade already glowing with a thin, golden sheen.
"Unsheathe…"
Orion struck once, clean and precise. The katana bit deep into Nomu's thigh, holy light flaring as the dark, steel-like flesh cut open like paper. Nomu roared, the sound vibrating through Orion's bones, and backhanded blindly.
Orion was already in motion, using a backstep to dodge the attack with picture-perfect timing.
His heartbeat and blood kept up with his over-concentrated boost to his skill, Animus Ignis provided.
He step-dodged to the side, pivoted, and slashed again—this time across the ribs. The holy enchantment sizzled, eating into muscle and leaving scorched wounds that refused to close properly.
Golden lightning sparked up, almost blasting a mini explosion on Nomu's chest.
Nomu staggered half a step, confused more than hurt.
"Woh… he's actually fighting him alone." Other students of Class 1-A were by now invested in this final fight.
Earlier, they were worried about how powerful that villain was, who almost killed their teacher, and now a boy almost their age was taking him on by himself.
"I don't get it, how come he isn't getting hit? Rolling away or just stepping aside from that range is simply not possible," Momo muttered, keen eyes planted on the fight.
"Man, that sword fighting is so cool. I wanna fight villains with swords too." Some boys found Orion's fighting with a katana cool, especially the golden lightning around the katana giving it an anime-like aesthetic.
While the rest of the student body was chattering at this fight, Aizawa, Izuku, Bakugo, and Todoroki, who actually had fought the Nomu before, were more stunned at how effortlessly Orion was handling the fight.
Aizawa's eyes narrowed, trying to figure out what Orion's quirk was. He first thought it was that golden aura, but that didn't make sense, him dodging all of Nomu's attacks like he was completely intangible to them.
Only Orion knew how hard it was, matching the timing of his dodges through the fight being extremely hard.
And Nomu was adapting to his fighting style as well during the fight; it wasn't just a mindless monster. It abandoned wild swings and charged, grabbing chunks of concrete to hurl like cannonballs. Orion sprinted, rolled, ducked—one stone shaved past his cheek, another exploded where his head had been a moment earlier.
He closed the gap instead of retreating.
However, he couldn't calculate one chunk of concrete coming at him right behind the one he had just dodged.
Before he could do anything, he was hit. The piece of concrete hit him like a cannonball, throwing him back, almost blacking him out.
"Shit… kid, you okay?" Aizawa shouted, already moving towards Orion to heal him with the healing potion he had. However, the boy quickly showed him his hand, telling him to stop.
"Stay back," Orion shouted, already assessing the damage.
His left hand was broken, and a few broken ribs as well. Not something he could just shrug off; he had to use his last flask.
His hand moved on its own, taking out the flask and gulping it down before Nomu approached him, which happened the next instant. However, his flask had worked on him by then; his body was already fixed. As soon as Nomu was over him, he once again dodged.
Nomu met him with a knee meant to cave his chest in. Orion ducked under it, felt wind rush over his scalp, and drove his sword up into Nomu's abdomen. Golden light burst outward. The monster convulsed, regeneration stuttering, flesh knitting back together sluggishly instead of instantly.
Orion ripped the blade free and retreated before the counterattack could land.
This was it. No spells. No backup. Just timing.
Nomu swung again—too wide. Orion punished it, carving into the shoulder joint. Another dodge, another cut. He began to circle, carving pieces off the monster like a butcher working a stubborn carcass. Each strike burned. Each wound slowed the healing more.
Nomu roared louder, angrier. It leapt, hands slamming down to crush him.
Orion stepped back and phased through the attack effortlessly.
Nomu was already on him. However, he noticed the guy was getting slower; his wounds weren't healing up, and that gave Orion an opportunity.
He backstepped a few more times, before making a considerable space between them, before he sheathed his blade once more. To use Unsheathe, he had to do it; however, unlike in the game, doing it in real life mid-fight was extremely hard.
He had to train in doing so later.
When he saw Nomu rushing at him, Orion too got ready, with one hand holding the katana and the other on its hilt.
He ran towards Nomu with all of his speed.
Orion forced himself to roll at the last possible moment. The fist cratered the earth where his skull had been.
His body entered into the intangible form, instantly passing through Nomu. The moment he arrived behind the hybrid monster, he planted both of his legs down hard and lunged himself backwards with all of his strength.
And just as he did, his hands drew his katana with all his power.
Unsheathe.
His blade flashed golden, with one clean cut, he targeted the backside of Nomu's knee, slashing it open.
Nomu roared as his knee buckled, bringing the herculean body down to one knee. Orion once again, with all of his speed, sheathed his sword, ready to deliver the last attack.
Unsheathe.
A flash of gold took place, and a powerful slash directed directly at Nomu's neck, ready to decapitate him.
However, just then he saw a purple portal opening just in front of him.
His eyes widened as a hand came at him, hitting his chest directly.
'Shit…'
