The fact that All Might hadn't come yet was concerning, to say the least. Orion helped clear out two rescue simulation spots before rushing here when he saw Nomu finally taking action; however, that took around 10 to 15 minutes.
'In the anime, All Might was in USJ almost instantly after Tenya left, so what is causing this delay…' Orion contemplated while the mind potion was taking its effect, recovering his mana.
His eyes still lingered around where both Bakugo and Todoroki were holding back the Nomu, though barely.
They were even able to do so because Aizawa got there backing them with his quirk, but that wouldn't last long. Eventually, Aizawa had to close his eyes and Nomu would recover from the earlier attack. Bakugo and Todoroki couldn't handle the monster then.
'Why the hell is this mind potion taking so damn long.' He felt like filing a lawsuit against Naaza for making defective products right now.
His mind once again wandered back to the delay in All Might's arrival. Orion long knew that actually beating the Nomu was out of his skill set currently; he had to just hold out until All Might arrived, perhaps give the number one hero a healing potion to make sure he's up to the task.
As long as he doesn't die, he'll get some reward for surviving the dungeon, right?
"Where is he?" he muttered, eyes only for a second flickering back to the USJ entrance, with expectation.
'Did Tenya not meet him or something, did my coming here cau—' suddenly his mind halted like a car crash.
'Wait, Tenya Iida was the one who he fought back in the dungeon, right… it has to be a coincidence, correct. Could it be that the dungeon created a scenario where All Might won't come, because the Tenya who was supposed to bring the heroes back with him, I actually beat him in the dungeon.'
He recalled while entering this place he saw something running towards him; because of the light he couldn't figure out the person, but this had to be Tenya who exited the USJ exactly when he entered.
After all, when else was the gate of USJ supposed to open outside when Tenya left?
Orion felt a shiver running down his spine.
'NO. No, it's not possible. Either way, whether Tenya goes to the UA for help or not, All Might was supposed to visit USJ. Otherwise, how did All Might arrive before the rest of the Pro Heroes.
If I recall it right, then Tenya was supposed to meet All Might halfway when All Might himself was coming to USJ.
Yeah… All Might will come, I just have to hold out here.'
Calming himself down and feeling his mana recovered, Orion once again was ready to enter the fight.
However, before he did that, he first looked at the other villains. Shigaraki was one hand down and was losing blood, yet refused to go back while Kurogiri played nanny to him.
Both were mostly occupied; however, Orion had to look out for Kurogiri's quirk.
Besides them and Nomu, there weren't any other villains he had to worry about.
Then he turned his attention back to the Nomu. Aizawa was barely holding back from blinking, so he had to hurry.
However, rushing in without a plan wouldn't do.
"Hey goddess. Is there no other Golden Order incantation which does more damage."
Marika, who was mostly a spectator until now, thought before finally saying.
[Hmmm… the Golden Order holds many incantations, yet most are meant for mending flesh and easing wounds, not for striking foes.
If it is an art of offense you seek, then Discus of Light stands foremost—well known, well proven, and trusted through ages. There are other forms, twisted and refined, echoes of that same prayer… but make no mistake.
If Discus of Light cannot answer your need, then its kin shall fare no better.
Such is the nature of the Order's light.]
Hearing this, Orion couldn't help but grumble in dissatisfaction. "I knew I should have chosen the dark side…"
"Is there nothing else."
[Hmmm…There is yet one more, should Discus of Light fail to answer thy need.
It is named Order's Blade.]
Marika said after a bit of delay.
"There is… what it does…" Orion's eyes lit up.
[By this incantation, the light of Order is laid upon thy weapon,
sanctifying its edge and turning each strike into holy judgment.
Steel thus blessed bites deeper into the profane,
and creatures that shun grace shall find no refuge from it.]
"Holy damage." Orion's mind churned. His eyes turned back towards Nomu.
His eyes lingered on Nomu's movements to Nomu's wounds.
He suddenly caught something in his vision which earlier he missed. The wounds didn't completely heal. They healed, but marks were left behind. And Nomu's healing couldn't completely heal them.
'Could it be because of holy damage… is Nomu considered an undead or a creature like that who takes more damage from holy magic…'
"Teach me the incantation, now…" he hurriedly asked Marika.
Marika blinked in complete bafflement.
[But truly—do you mean to grasp a new prayer in the midst of battle? Do not be a fool, Tarnished. Such things demand calm and focus. At this pace, it would serve you far better to keep casting Discus of Light, until the foe before you is well and truly solved.]
"That incantation is way too slow… and it will cost more mana over time. This armament buff incantation is perfect as long as I can manage close combat against that thing. You just teach me."
[Truly… what do I do with you.]
Marika sighed, relented, and decided to teach him.
So when Orion's impromptu lesson on another incantation started, the fight, a cat-and-mouse chase between Nomu and the two students holding him back, was coming to an end.
Bakugo blasted himself sideways, explosions cracking the air as he hammered Nomu's torso again and again, smoke and fire swallowing the monster's upper body.
"Stay. DOWN! You damn monster," he roared, veins bulging as he poured everything into raw force. Each blast staggered Nomu—but only barely.
The weight difference was too much. He could only do that because Nomu was missing one arm from Orion's last Discus of Light, and Aizawa wasn't letting the monster heal himself.
Todoroki followed immediately, ice blooming across the ground in jagged spears, freezing Nomu's legs in place. The temperature dropped sharply, frost crawling up the monster's limbs. Steam hissed where cold met burning flesh.
However, Nomu was learning during all this time; he wasn't just a mindless monster. Nomu quickly dodged away before his entire leg was compromised.
Behind them, Aizawa stood with blood still crusted at the corner of his mouth, eyes wide and unblinking.
The healing potion Orion provided almost completely fixed him; however, he was no use in close combat against that monster. He was more useful if he poured all of his energy into suppressing the Nomu.
However, he couldn't continue it for long enough.
"Todoroki, Bakugo… get out of there, I can't suppress his quirk for long," shouted Aizawa.
Both Bakugo and Todoroki halted and were ready to jump back; however, before that, a green blur shot forward beside them.
"Deku…"
"Midoriya…"
"Detroit Smash…"
BOOM….
Due to Aizawa suppressing Nomu's shock absorption ability as well, this time Izuku's attack wasn't rendered useless. He was just waiting for the right timing to deliver a finishing blow. He could only do it one time, and then his hand would be useless. So, he went for it when he found the perfect opportunity.
Nomu was thrown away once again to the wall, the impact sounding like thunder up in the sky.
Midoriya's hand was a strangled mess. Bloodied and completely broken.
Dust and debris clouded their view; however, upon it settling down, they finally saw Nomu.
Nomu was planted into the wall, chest half shrunken and black blood running out of his wounds. The wall had been completely destroyed. If this was any other facility besides UA's disaster simulation, the entire place would have been coming down by now with this level of punishment.
Bakugo noticed it first. "Oi—he's not healing!" he shouted, while looking at Aizawa to check whether his teacher's quirk was still in effect.
Todoroki narrowed his eyes. He slammed his foot down, ice erupting upward to pin Nomu's chest. "It's slowed," he said, voice tight. "Not stopped."
Nomu howled, a sound more animal than human, his shrunken chest wiggling and then the muscles started to bulge out like a balloon, recovering itself. It wasn't instant like earlier; it took some time, but it still recovered most of the damage.
Bakugo and Todoroki didn't immediately catch what it meant, but Izuku and Aizawa did.
It wasn't that the regeneration had completely slowed down. No… Aizawa noticed that the damage Izuku did just now, alongside the little both Bakugo and Todoroki did, was healing. The healing rate was slower but not completely slowed down.
However, the arm that the boy cut with that golden light or the long chest cut from earlier—that was taking significantly longer to heal. Smoke came out from that cut of the arm, but it was almost like it refused to heal.
"You all…"
That was when they heard the boy who they were thinking about finally come back.
Orion walked close to them, eyes on Nomu. "Pull back, I'll handle this one myself."
xXx
A/N : So, I just searched in google and surprisingly found that Nomu are considered undead, at least similar. Meaning holy damage should be effective on them right !
