[1st POV]

"Where are we going?" Denji asked, his voice was lazy, and his back was hunched too. Standing so close to me, he looked like a walking twig.

"I don't know," I said with a wide smile, glancing at him more times than I would've liked.

We were walking along the sidewalk of the city. Makima had given me full custody of our Chainsaw Man. I was to patrol with him today and bring him home with me. Basically, the task that was supposed to be Aki's belonged to me now.

Denji was not giving me the main character vibe at all. He was a tall, scrawny, and lanky kid with dirty blonde hair that had never been styled in his life. His hair was messy in a way that was obvious he cut it however he wanted when it got too long.

"What did Miss Makima say?" he asked.

I hummed thoughtfully while grabbing my chin. She did tell me a bunch of things but at the time, I was too excited to listen. My whole focus was entirely on him and how cool it was to meet the main character.

"Take him on a patrol... show him the ropes... let him live with you... keep an eye on him... kill him if he tried to escape, kill him if he attacked, kill him if he used his power without your permission, kill him if he disobeyed you, kill him..." I began recalling the things she told me one by one, but I was stopped by Denji.

"Wait, wait, wait. That's a lot of killing," he said, waving his hands.

"Yeah, you're still walking on a thin line. But I feel you. I was in the same boat only a few months ago," I said.

"What's that mean?"

"It means I was just like you a few months ago," I clarified.

He nodded, his face showing that he just shelved that new knowledge in his mind. He straightened his posture before leaning back with his hands behind his head, and we continued to walk through the streets in silence.

"Hey Nakahara," he called me after a few minutes of walking. "What's your relationship with Makima?"

"Call me Jin," I said. "And there's nothing between us."

"Really? You seem pretty close though," he said thoughtfully, perhaps recalling the scene of her hugging me.

"What? Are you interested in her?" I asked.

"Of course. Who wouldn't be? Miss Makima is so kind and she's so beautiful," he said, leaning forward before making a squeezing motion in the air. "And she's got big boobs too."

I couldn't really refute that. She was indeed beautiful and had big boobs. And I would be lying my ass off if I said I wasn't interested in her.

I was trying very hard not to be, but I am. Because I know who she really was.

A Devil. And one whose scent I could barely hold back from.

"Nakahara, you said you will find me a girlfriend who will have lots of sex with me, right?" he asked.

"Call me Jin," I repeated. "Yes. But I also said I will give you three full meals a day, a place to live, and lots of friends."

"Hmm," he said thoughtfully. "Do you think Miss Makima can be my girlfriend?"

I scoffed. "Probably not. But even if she became your girlfriend, I don't think she would be interested in those things."

She was a Devil. I'm quite certain they have not interest in those things, of course except the specific devil inside of me.

She gave off the vibe that she'd be a dead fish during intercourse.

"You mean sex or tons of sex?" he asked.

"The only sex you will have will be with her shoe," I said with a chuckle.

But when I glanced back at him, I noticed he had a sort of creepy perverted face. He was probably imagining it and liking the idea from his expression. I sighed and smacked him on the head.

"Ow!! What was that for!!" he screamed.

He tried to hit me back instantly but paused when I gave him a look. He froze mid-action, like something inside him was stopping him from picking a fight with me.

Strange. I didn't do anything. Didn't even try to intimidate.

"Don't get too attached to the girlfriend part. That will be the last on the list. It will be a while and lots of work before I can trust you with a woman," I said.

Denji was a flawed character. To the point that flaw was his entire character. But it was not like it was his fault for how he grew up.

Things considered common sense, things considered normal, and everything else we took for granted like drinking clean water. All of those he never had when he was a child. So of course he wouldn't know anything about dignity, morals, heck he shouldn't even know right from wrong.

Thinking about it that way, it would be such a drag to have him with me.

Don't get me wrong, I was excited to see him and I was also acutely aware of what his appearance meant. But after this burst of emotion was gone, I wasn't going to babysit him. I don't think I could do that.

But for now, there was something I wanted to do.

"Let's go get something to eat," I said suddenly.

His eyes widened. They almost released this strange glow of happiness and surprise.

"Something to eat? Like as in food?" he asked.

"Yes, Denji, food. What else is there to eat? Wait, don't answer that," I said. I was the Pig Devil and the Cannibal Devil. I knew you could eat many other things and not just food.

"Can I get bread and jam?" he asked again.

I nodded. "You can get bread and jam."

"Yes!!" he jumped and threw up his fist. "Let's go get something to eat. Right fucking now!!"

And so I led him astray from our patrol routes to go grab something to eat. He was very excited, barely able to contain his happiness as he mumbled to himself. Or was he talking to Pochita?

"Wait, Nakahara, didn't Makima tell us to patrol?" he asked.

"Taking a lunch break is a basic human right, Denji," I said. And it didn't matter if we walked around the city. Those were quite pointless when I could instantly know when a devil appeared anyway.

"Okay," he said.

We continued to walk, but after a few seconds, he asked me again.

"There are different kinds of jams, right?"

"Yes, Denji."

"How many will they have?"

"Mixed fruit, mango, orange, pineapple. They will have all kinds of jam. If you want more, we will get it from the convenience store," I said.

"Sweet, sounds awesome," he said.

I knew I shouldn't say it, but I couldn't help myself.

"You know, there are different kinds of bread too," I smiled.

"Say WHAT!!"

...

Reading about a character was one thing, but meeting them and getting to know them was another. Denji felt more real than any animation could make you feel.

Perhaps it was partly due to my forbidden knowledge, but Denji was a pitiful guy. You could tell about his fucked up past from his mannerisms, the way he talked, the way he commented on things, the questions he asked, and even from the way he looked at the world.

It made you feel for him quickly. Like seeing a poor stray dog in the streets.

I kind of get why Reze didn't kill him when she first met him. The guy was so naive and innocent. He was like a kid that never grew up, but got corrupted by his environment.

My first plan was to bring him to a buffet restaurant. I wanted to buy out the entire restaurant and let him enjoy everything. I knew he was just a human and not like me who could eat infinite food, but just the feeling that you could eat anything, I wanted to give him that feeling.

But sadly, no buffet restaurant allowed me to do so. Something about lots of customers depending on their restaurant to get their food, so they wouldn't allow anyone to buy the whole place even if I offered a hundred million yen.

Japanese and their honor. I had come to respect that. Where I was from, they would do it without a second thought if I offered twice the profit they would've made.

In the end, I brought Denji to a high-end restaurant. It was not luxury or anything, but it was good and they had lots of variety.

But most importantly, they had VIP rooms. I didn't want to let Denji eat in a public place, hence why I didn't go to the buffet after they denied me buying the whole place for a day.

He was a troublesome character. That I was aware of.

"Wow, I never went inside a big restaurant before," Denji said, gawking at everything like a village boy in a city.

He looked at the people in the restaurant, gulped loudly when he looked at the food on their table, and then looked around the interior.

"Here's the VIP room," the waiter said, opening the door for us.

"Thank you," I said and led Denji inside.

The room was not very big, but it looked spacious with just the two of us. It was red-themed and probably made so that people could hold meetings here.

"This is so cool," Denji said before taking up the menu. He tried to read it upside down, an action that showed he never even learned to read.

"Hey Nakahara, what does this say?" he asked while pointing at the longest word.

"Seasonal five-fish sashimi set meal," I said, reading it for him.

"Then what about this?" he asked again, pointing at a different name. This one looked quite weird in kanji.

"Domestic eel kabayaki in secret sweet-savory style," I said.

"Then this?" he pointed at another.

"Selected Japanese black wagyu marble charcoal grill," I said.

He scratched his head in confusion, not understanding anything even when I read it out loud.

"Okay, which one says bread and jam?" he asked.

I just smiled and took the menu from him.

The waiter came in soon to take our orders.

"What will you be having this afternoon?"

"We'll take everything. And get us bread and every type of jam you can find in your kitchen," I said.

He did a double take. "Excuse me?"

"We'll get everything you can make," I said again.

"O-Okay," he said, and without writing anything down, he headed out.

Denji did a slow turn towards me after the waiter left, but I just laughed at him. It was something I wanted to do for him a long time ago when I watched the anime.

The next events that followed would be one of my favorite memories.

Denji had the time of his life.

And so did I, for doing something I wished I could do back in my past life.

The bread and jam came in first. I told Denji to save room in his stomach, so I made him eat only one bread. But in return, he put every kind of jam, twelve different kinds, onto one bread to create the ultimate bread and jam.

After that, the food came in.

Dish after dish, they came to us. Denji was over the moon with each and every one of them. There wasn't even anything he didn't like. He tried them all. But after a quarter of the menu, he was already done.

I, on the other hand, had infinite stomach space, so I ate everything. Denji, not wanting to be outdone and being a glutton, somehow used his Devil powers to quickly digest the food and eat more.

He went to the toilet a dozen times.

It was like any buffet.

The cost of everything would be immense, but I could take care of it.

After we thought the meal was over, desserts and drinks came in next. Apparently, Denji had never tried ice cream or cake, and he absolutely loved them.

Although there were some drinks he couldn't do at all.

Overall, it was a great day.

By the time we were done, it was already dark outside.

..

"Hey Jin..." Denji said, lying down on the long couch.

"Hm?"

"Thank you," he said sincerely.

I didn't see his face, but I heard him sniffing and quickly wiping his face.

"I think today is the best day of my life."

"It's in my top ten," I said.

And for a moment, the two of us lounged in silence.

My hunger was truly never sated, but tonight, after the meal, I was oddly satisfied.
