In this world of Chaos and Madness, isn't altruism a form of Rebellion ?
—a Nameless One of The Free City
——————————————————
The Cohort—Now composed of Sunless, Nephis, Cassie and Zero, rode on the Bell Beast.
The story of how Zero and the Bell Beast met each other is quite convulted.
Originaly, the poor beast was about to perish at Zero's blade during one of his Extermination duty, however, The Grimm Child barely stopped Him.
And so, Travelling by Bell Beast became the norm amongst the residents of the Dark City—Mainly as help to find stranded awakened.
As for others reactions ? He just told them it was an echo.
Same for this time.
"I still can't believe this is an echo"
Sunny grumbled to Nephis under his breath.
Why were his so emotionless ? This one seemed to even be able to make jokes.
Nephis only gave him a look, tough it betrayed some envy.
As they advanced Toward the Dark City, the sun fell toward the horizon.
Zero fully experienced the feeling of being reborn.
The soft breeze blowing on his face, the beautiful scenery of the sun Falling Down…
He took a deep breath.
Even if this world was full of corruption and madness, even everything was Flawed…
'This is just perfect'
Zero looked at the rest of the group.
"Its getting dark, lets rest on high ground"
They quickly found a Crimson Coral to rest on.
The dark water rose from god-knows where.
"When are we going to get to that Dark City ?!"
Sunny spat, he was sure this "Awakened" was actually a Nightmare Creature in disguise.
"Tomorrow"
As the fire danced in front of them all, an awkward atmosphere began to take root.
Surprisingly, Nephis tried to Icebreak herself.
She looked curiously at Zero, and asked:
"Since you were part of the Steeblooded Cohort, how were they like ?"
Zero paused, reminiscing.
"Well, I didn't know the rest of the Cohort that much. Tough Stella was a cold hearted assassin, nothing could hide her crush on Kora. Dorian was a plump drunkard who didn't know the word 'Alcohol Poisoning', but he was still a good guy. Audrey… Well its kind of hard to start on her. She always hid her emotions deeply, and honestly ? She's a calculating bitch. Very hard to deal with."
He paused, his eyes exuding a sense of regret.
"As for Arhan and Kora… Even if Arhan was a Soft-Hearted fool who had troubles making sacrifice, he was still a good leader. Kora was someone who wanted to look tough, but in the inside he was still just a kid.
Together, they were…My friends. My only friends"
Warmth bloomed in his chest—Tough it was Grimm Child trying to hype him up. Even then, it was a world of difference from being alone.
Cassie and Sunny had already fall asleep.
"Could you tell me some of the adventures you had with them ?"
——————————————
(Nephis POV):
Separate from his imposing stature, his speaking skills were poor. He repeated himself, rambled with disjointed details only he knew, and sometimes spoke so emotionally it was hard to follow.
If Zero had a weakness, it was his Speaking skill.
After all, who needed speaking skills when all he had to do in his previous life was staying Silent and slash with his blade.
He wasn't that good at expressing himself.
Yet that made it sound sincere.
yet Nephis still liked his stories.
The time they had to fight agaist a horde of nightmare creature, the time some sleepers tried to do a Coup that he mercilessly stopped, the preparation to raid the Crimson Spire.
"…Then, we had to fight the Crimson Terror"
Before he could continue, Zero noticed that nephis had already fallen asleep.
He didn't need sleep as a vessel.
And so, Zero watched as the sun rose, he and the Grimm child.
A night gazing upon the Star with his loyal buttler.
The fire danced, the star shone, and he wasn't alone anymore.
