Arhan, Kora, and Zero sat peacefully on a the tip of a huge coral.
They had been travelling for two days, seldom did they find a resting spot at twilight.
Usually, they had to settle down at around 5 pm, as failing to find one before the weird diarrhea water rose would be fatal.
They had absolutely no desire to find out what lurked in that Goo.
As they rested near the fire and discussed how to cook this nightmarish Crab wannabe, They heard a faint rumbling, so faint, in fact, that it would be unnoticeable for the mundane.
Arhan squinted his eyes, suspiscious. His [Flame of Doubt] flaring up lightly.
Zero drew his Nail, full of alertdness.
As for Kora, he was too engrossed in his meditation. His subcounscious whispering "Must've been the wind"
Seeing that nothing had happened, Zero started mixing the "Soup" made of Carapace Scavenger meat and some dried kelp.
The meat was boiling in a massive bowl, made of Carapace Centurion Exoskeleton.
If you ignored the diarrhea coloring, it looked completly safe to eat.
Zero used his Nail to mix the "Gourmet Soup" as he called it. His mind drifting along the robotic motion.
He Seasoned it with salt, hoping to at least alleviate some of the suffering their tastebud had been repetitively since arriving in this Cruel Forgotten Shore.
This was a rare moment of Solace, where each of the three Sleepers rejoiced in each other's silent company.
*Rumble*
Arhan stood up, [his Flame of Doubt] transforming into a blazing inferno.
'Something's off'
Zero drew his still-wet Nail, his Soul reinforcing his limbs.
As for Kora, once again, it seemed he was too deep in his Meditation, as his mind went "The wind is strong today".
The wind, However, seemed not to agree. It suddenly became as ravaging tempest, as if saying
"That was NOT me my brother"
The Starless Sea churned, waves crashing down on the coral. The little "island" the group rested onto rumbling, seeming as if it could tumble any moment.
*RUMBLE*
A thunder like rumble was heard, and the tremors intensified.
And, finaly, as the scene Climaxed, Massive Tentacles started to peek from the sea, Trying to attack the sleepers.
The three of them looked at each others, and, with unsaid determination, attacked.
For the first time in perhaps an eternity, Zero had the role of the Mage.
Arhan jumped, dashing toward a nearby tentacle, and with his [DragonSlayer],
Unleashed his full strenght.
*CLANG*
The sword barely did any damage to the Abomination, the edge of the blade barely piercicng its skin.
But this did not discourage Arhan.
By leveraging the hold his sword had on the tentacles, he launched himself in the air.
The Abomination seemed to sense an opportunity, and so, lashed at Arhan with on of its disgusting tentacles.
Arhan, seemed to have predicted this, and took a deep breath.
A Nameless swordman appeared in his mind.
——————————
The Swordsman, didn't have any love for anyone. He was a drifting wind, travelling anywhere he wanted.
However, one day, the swordsman found a woman by the lakeside.
She was barely breathing , and after healing her, they spent quite some time together.
After a few year, The swordsman realized his love for her.
Yet he was but a wandering breeze, while she was the prized lady of a dukedom.
How could he dare set his sight on her ?
Hiwever, on a normal day, where the morning dew barely condensed on the green leaves of spring, the kingdom was razed to the ground.
The lady was rescud by the Nameless one, yet, Fate seemed to have found its new hobby.
The Dragon responsible for this tragedy had set his sight on the lady.
The rest was history. The Swordsman gave his all, He sacrified His Soul, His Mind, His Body, and when he had nothing more to give, he burned his [Sword].
His Aspect.
That day, the day he died, he became a Dragonslayer.
And thus came the identically Named sword.
—————————
Arhan took a deep breath, his eyes, even in a Life or Death fight against an abomination, seemingly shone with the vicissitude of life.
His sword, a clunky heap of Iron, wich could barely be called a sword, flashed with light, leaving behind after-Images.
His Muscled contracted, swelling, numerous veins appearing. His body had swelled about a fourth of its original Size.
Now, Arhan faintly resembled the Nameless Swordsman.
The surrounding tentacles, so advent on making quick work of him, all froze.
Then, they all fell, as if cut into sashimi by a master chef.
Arhan fell from the sky, Seemingly going to crash into the sea, never to be seen again.
But Kora did not allow it.
He dashed, breaking Arhan's fall.
The Colossus, however, seemed to finaly take the "Ants" it had perceived seriously.
Nine enormous tentacles emerged from the water, intent on catching these slippery eels.
The thing was, however, that the thing he had perceived as a peculiarly shaped rock was actually a living being.
Zero's Shadow started to difform, as if made of clay. Then, Zero's horn started growing, not by much, but enough to be divided into another section. It had also gained quite some lenght.
Zero's Shadow, however, changed much more than that. As of now, one might wonder.
How could one have a shadow in this Starless sky, with a moon obscured by the clouds ?
Their question would go unanswered.
Zero's shadow, suddenly, unnaturally, gained eyes. Glowing White eyes, radiating a Pure, Holy radiance.
Zero whispered a Very short chant.
"Oh shadows of the Fallen, oh Soul of the defunt, I Plead of thee, Serve as my blade once More."
Zero's Shadow seemed to split, a noticeable portion of it dissapearing.
That very same portion appearing in front of Zero, and, with a light tap from him, Advanced at lightning speed toward the Abomination.
*BOOOOOOM*
The sea seemed to had split, shortly revealing the Abomination's Mangled body.
It was a squid, a very, very disgusting squid.
Kora, having thrown Arhan's deflated body to the remaining plateform, Thrusted at the abomination, aiming to shatter its beak.
The abomination had a second phase.
The tentacles, seemingly severed, regrew. An endless Fury appearing in its singular Eye.
The tentacles doubed, achieving mytosis.
Just as Zero was preparing to save Kora, a sense of Indefirence rose from him.
This was not his friend.
The feeling grew more and more, only suppressed by Zero's Peerless determination.
Half of the Tentacles aimed at Kora, the other half toward Arhan.
Zero couldn't help but feel as if Kora was worthless, as if a stranger.
Didn't they dine, fight, and train together ?
Why was the only one his mind recognized as an aquaintance be Arhan ?
That moment of hesitation, however, was fatal.
Kora defended as best as he can, yes one of the tentacles still slammed into him, making him crash accross the waves.
Arhan was close enough to Zero to be defended.
Yet the harm was already done.
Zero felt a profound feeling of anguish rise within him.
How could He, the one who hated till that hate killed a world, be shackled by a flaw ?
Yet reality continued to be cruel.
Zero felt it. An unprecedented sense of Wrath rising within him.
The wrath born from an unbreakable pride being wounded.
But again, His physiology didn't allow him to feel such potent emotions, wich again, Fueled the rage once more.
Was he really destined to lose Each and every person he'd get close to, so much that he couldn't even bond with the one he encountered ?
'Bullshit'
Zero cursed.
He…He didn't allow it.
He didn't allow himself to feel powerless, as he once had been.
Zero's Shadow… Swelled. His mask cracking, tendrils rising from the cracks.
The tendrils, however, quickly receded, as if suppressed by the orange and white light rising in Zero's eye sockets.
The cracks mended, yet his figure grew. He grew a few centimeters taller. His horn extended again, growing in a slightly pointing his blind spot.
His cloak also grew, yet each segment seemed to have separated quite a bit.
Finaly, Pale wings rose from his back, as if shielding everything behind him.
What you could see, however, were veins sprawling around the crystal wings, as if carrying a mix of black, red, green and orange blood.
The turbid color was barely noticeable.
Zero arched his knees, then, with a mighty flap from his wings, he appeared right in front of the cursed abomination's eye.
*WOOSH*
Nail art, GREAT SLASH
Zero slashed in an upward motion, his darkened nail seemingy unstoppable.
The abomination's eye—Sticking out of the rumbling waters along with a bit of its Three eyed skull— was ruthlessely popped with a sickening *CRUNCH*
Dark blue liquid oozed out from it.
Zero was Ruthless.
He appeared to teleport, appearing in every part of the abominations body, slashing and obliterating the abomination's flesh.
Every time the abomination tried to multiply its tentacles, they were destroyed as soon as they started to appear.
Zero Seathed his sword on his back, and raised his hands.
Then, he appeared under water, and with his now fingered hands, Held the abominations Beak.
*Crack*
The beak cracked upon the pressure, the Nightmarish beast emitting a pained wail.
*Crack*
Zero exerted more force, the beak on the verge of shattering, cursed blood oozing out.
*CRACKKK*
The beak shattered under the pressured,
What Zero failed to see, however, was the newly grown tentacle heading his way.
But Zero knew better.
A bloodied figure dashed accross the water, holding a dark blue longsword.
*SLASH*
The tentacle was sliced in countless fragments.
Zero, in front of the Abomination's now open insides, screamed.
A scream that could be heard kilometer wide.
*RAWRHHWKKJRSH*
A shriek, so different from Zero's usual melodious voice, was heard.
Any nightmare creature hoping to be an oriol waiting behind immediatly made a U-turn.
That scream invoked a profound sense of submission deep within their blood.
The Abomination, nearest to Zero, took the most damage.
Its cursed innards ruptured, Gooey blood staining the water.
[You have Slaughtered a fallen Demon, Eldritch Cthulian]
[The Void inside of You grows]
[The Void within you Grows another Core]
[You have abtained another Abyss, Abyss of Salvation]
A soothing sensation washed over Zero, and immediatly, a deep need for sleep emerged from the confin of his soul.
The world went black.
