Chapter 6 - The first schoolday

The next morning, I wake up relaxed and feel the warmth of the sun's rays. I place my hand on my head and look into the air at the ceiling. I get out of bed and leave the room with my clothes on."I should get some spare clothes," I think, and go down the stairs on the right. I go into the kitchen, where Suri is already standing with a banana and is about to eat. I also take a banana and eat it; the bread seems to have already been eaten by Suri.

"Are you feeling better now?" I ask Suri with a gentle smile.

She only nods and smiles softly back. I take the banana and start eating. I wave at her before taking my black cloak and putting away the dagger. I bite into the banana while Suri watches me briefly, her head leaning around the corner. I close the door, and Suri sits down on the couch and smiles softly, even though nothing is really going on."He is nice and great and still a human," she thinks and looks around briefly.

Meanwhile, I walk through the street filled with people and then jump onto a roof when there is a bit more space. As always, I jump from roof to roof and already see the school. I continue jumping from the roofs until I land on the school fence. Meanwhile, Suri goes up the stairs and wants to go to the bathroom. She sees the bathroom door and slowly goes inside. She undresses and goes to take a bath.

Meanwhile, I enter the school and see Alya standing alone in a corner. She looks a bit depressed and lonely; her eyes say more than she could ever say with words. I smile slightly and walk toward her. She looks up when she hears my footsteps and steps back. I smile calmly, continue walking toward her, and wave slightly.

"What's wrong? I won't do anything," I say in a calming voice.

She looks at me uncertainly and then to the right, where there is a possible escape route. I look there too but do nothing."I can't trust him," Alya thinks fearfully, but she stays where she is. She takes a short breath.

"Right, the princess asked something. Why are you on the side of the beastmen? Is that true?" she asks, still somewhat cautious but no longer as scared as before.

I simply nod and then smile a bit more gently than before.

"Yes, that's true," I say and briefly look around to see if anyone is nearby.

A bell rings, signaling the preparation for classes. All students go inside, and since we have practical lessons first, we can stay outside. I go with Alya to the combat field, or training field, whatever you want to call it. We stand there, and other students arrive as well. The practice teacher looks at all of us and smiles, clearly excited about the strength of the newcomers. He grins slightly, looks at everyone once, and then begins the lesson.

"All right, first we'll practice protection spells," the practice teacher says.

Everyone nods and looks at the teacher, who raises his hand and murmurs a formula."A formula?" I think and keep watching. Everyone looks at him and claps when a blue protective shield appears. Then he points at me and smiles slightly.

"Hey, you prodigy, you try," he says with a smiling voice.

I nod and simply snap my fingers. A light shines exactly around my body, and a golden, shimmering barrier appears. The teacher looks at it and launches a huge fireball directly at me. As the fireball flies toward me, all the students recoil in fear—only Alya remains calm and watches me with interest. The fireball hits me but suddenly dissipates, and everyone stares at the barrier and at me inside it, seeing that it is completely undamaged.

"That is a Resistance 20000 barrier. It's on the level of a high mage," the teacher says, stunned and impressed.

I dissolve the barrier, but everyone continues staring at me. After a few seconds, however, they stop. The next student is called and creates a weak but stable barrier, but it is broken by a small fireball from the teacher and fades just before it reaches him. One by one, everyone takes their turn, including the stronger ones. Alya is last. What all barriers had in common so far was that they all broke and were created with formulas—only mine was different. Alya raises her hand and also recites a formula. A purple-colored barrier appears. The teacher launches a medium-sized fireball at it, and it breaks through the barrier, but the fireball extinguishes immediately after the barrier shatters. The teacher nods, then looks at everyone, fixes his gaze on me even more, and grins again.

"We still have ten minutes, so fight me," the teacher says challengingly, his grin widening.

All the students look at me in shock while I nod."He is Dandilon Konodo, the fourth strongest fighter in the country," I think and look at him as he takes a sword from his side. I draw my dagger from its sheath and take a fighting stance with a joyful smile. A female student acts as the referee and starts the fight. We both rush toward each other at inhuman speed and clash sword and dagger. We jump back two meters in a single leap, catch our breath, and charge at each other again. I strike from the side, but just before the teacher blocks the attack, I duck and perform a feint from the other side, nearly hitting him—yet he perfectly blocks it with the tip of his sword.

"Now I know that you are Dandilon," I say, breathing briefly.

I jump back and dodge a precise strike while Dandilon nods at my guess and grins even wider. I grab my cloak and throw it away, revealing my entire jogging outfit. I vanish in a blurred movement, so fast that no motion can even be seen. Suddenly, I am standing behind him."Damn, he's fast," Dandilon thinks as he jumps up the moment I appear. I strike at the same time but narrowly miss him. I stay low and look up at him as he falls back down. My movement blurs again, and this time he lands as I appear above him and kick him to the ground."He's fast and strong, but at most he's only as strong as the twentieth in the world," Dandilon thinks and smiles as he crashes to the ground and spits. But just as he tries to get up, my dagger is already close to his throat. The fight is declared over, and I am the winner. All the students clap in surprise, and Alya looks at me with shining eyes."He can definitely help me, even with ease," Alya thinks as she keeps looking at me with eyes full of hope, but she says and does nothing.

I take my cloak and put it back on. I return to the line as the school bell rings."What, did we really fight for ten minutes?" I think as I leave the combat field. Everyone around me is already heading into the building since our next class is theory. The room is on the second floor, so I jump onto the windowsill of an open window on the second floor. Some people look at me as I land on the windowsill, and a teacher immediately runs toward me.

"Hey you, why did you jump up here?" he asks angrily."It was faster, that's why I did it," I say calmly.

He shakes his head in annoyance, puts his hand to his forehead, looks at the ground briefly, then turns around, shaking his head once more. After that, he walks away and enters the history classroom right next to the theory room. A girl with pink hair and violet eyes, who did not get a very high score in the entrance exam, looks at me with sparkling eyes because I jumped up without any trouble. I jump down from the windowsill and walk toward her with a smile and a wave, while no one else enters yet, though the chatter of the other students can already be heard.

"Hey, what's your name?" I ask her as I stop next to her."My name is Mia," she says, slightly hesitant and shy.

She looks down briefly and then back up. We slowly walk toward the theory room and remain silent the entire time.

"And you, what's your name?" she asks me shortly before the room."My name is Min," I say with a calm smile.

We stop in front of the door and I open it. Inside, only the teacher is present—no one else but Mia and me. We sit down, and Mia sits right next to me and smiles at me.

"Is it okay if I sit here?" she asks, looking at the desk.

I simply nod and smile back at her, then briefly look to the front where the teacher is still preparing the lesson. Shortly after, all the other students enter and sit down everywhere. The teacher bangs once on her desk, and everyone becomes quiet and silent while all students take out magical writing tablets and copy the heading from the board. I do the same."One lesson lasts ninety minutes, so we only have three classes a day," I think and write "Magical Script" as the heading from the board. After that, the teacher writes various symbols on the board. Everyone simply copies them without really looking at them. I copy them as well, and then the teacher talks without pause. Time passes quickly.

Next, we have history. Mia looks at me and puts away her magical writing tablet.

"Let's quickly go to the history room," she says and stands up.

I nod, and we leave the theory room and go directly next door into the history room. We sit down in the same place as before—third row, far right by the window. She sits next to me again. All the other students enter as well, and the teacher who scolded me for jumping through the window arrives. He does not react further and writes "The Demons" on the board, and everyone copies it onto a new magical writing tablet.

"All right, let's talk about a myth. About one hundred years ago, there was a demon invasion that descended upon humanity. However, there was one human with abilities that surpassed all other humans and demons. But he could only destroy normal demons; the generals and the Demon King were not killed, but sealed," the teacher says, pausing several times to catch his breath. After that, he writes down various demon powers, but no one is interested, so hardly anyone pays attention. The lesson ends fairly quickly, and when class is over, everyone rushes out except for me, Mia, and Alya.

"Um, Min, could we talk for a moment?" Alya asks me and then looks at Mia."Yes, what is it?" I ask.

She looks at Mia once more and then back at me. She grabs my sleeve and pulls me a little away from Mia.

"I need your help. My family was kidnapped and enslaved by a noble. Please help them," she says in a tearful voice.

I simply nod, then look at Mia, wave at her briefly, and walk to a window and open it.

"Which one, and where?" I ask Alya hastily."The Limba family," she says.

Just before Alya can say the location, I already jump onto a roof next to the school and look toward the Limba family's mansion. My eyes immediately soak in mana as I land in front of the mansion gate. Guards notice me and rush toward me, my face hidden beneath the hood of my cloak.
