Kim stood outside the apartment building, staring up at the address she'd scribbled on a piece of paper.
This was insane.

She'd spent most of Monday night unable to sleep, Nicole's interview playing on repeat in her mind. The way she'd basically painted Ethan as guilty without saying the words. The way she'd made it sound like Claire was a helpless victim and Ethan was a predator.
And everyone was eating it up.
Social media was exploding. Women's advocacy groups were rallying. The press was circling like sharks.
And Ethan was drowning.
So Tuesday morning, Kim had made a decision.
If no one else was going to dig into Claire's story, she would.
She'd pulled Claire's old employment records from the files. Found her last known address. And now here she was, standing outside a modest apartment complex in a neighborhood that was nice but not fancy.
She flagged down a taxi.
