Carolyn raised a glass of wine toward her in a mock toast, then turned on her heel and headed for the restroom.
Inside, Carolyn stared at her reflection in the mirror, her eyes burning with rage. "How could she? How could that little bitch steal my thunder?" She muttered, her nails digging into her palms. After a few minutes of venting her frustration, she rearranged her appearance and smoothed her dress before returning to the event.
Lyria had immediately noticed the malicious gaze while she was exchanging courtesies with a group of businesswomen. Seeing it was Carolyn, she wasn't surprised. Suspecting the CEO's anger stemmed from her unique dress, Lyria looked down with a hidden, triumphant smirk.
