"You don't know what it is like!" she screamed. I stared at the woman before me. Gone was the kindly old grandmother and in her place was this angry, rage-filled psycho.
"Adin was my legacy! He was the tribe's legacy! And he left!" I could feel the waves of magic and rage from her. Cuau shifted and ran toward us.
"Let me take Kachel. He'll get hurt if he stays." I reached over and touched him, pressing my healing energy into him for a moment before kissing him hard and pushing him and my son away. Kachel cried and my heart tore as I watched Cuau dart through the doorway.
"Get to safety!" I yelled. Grandmother Vers was gathering a whirlwind around her and couldn't see. I was grateful for the moment to get my child out of harms way.
"You should go, too, Uchel." He nodded before heading to the exit. I could see him struggling with his need to protect me, but since magic was involved, he knew he would be in the way.
