Chapter 73 - Truth

Hearing the words of Thor and the others from the future, Sigurd looked toward them in confusion.

"What the hell is my future self hiding from me?"

Sigurd then shook his head. After all, he knew that knowing earlier might have a different impact, so he didn't delve further into their situation.

Just as everyone was resting, they suddenly felt the space around them shifting, putting everyone on alert.

Then Loki emerged from a portal, having come as reinforcement. Loki looked toward everyone but realized he needed to explain, or they would attack him.

"Hello, everyone. I need help."

Just as Thor, who was ready, moved to attack Loki, Sigurd spoke.

"Let him explain the situation before attacking."

Hearing his words, everyone who was ready to attack turned toward Loki for an explanation.

Loki looked toward them, then explained everything about the Masters of Evil—how they had destroyed more than 625 worlds, how he and his people tried to stop them or warn other worlds but were killed by the Masters of Evil.

He explained how the future Avengers of this world learned of the coming threat when the cyborg Deathlok informed them, but the destruction of this world was merely a way to weaken the barrier between the present world and the First Firmament. All along, their true target had been to break the barrier.

Loki looked toward the people in front of him. "Right now, they are battling in the God Quarry. If we don't reach them in time, they may destroy the barrier, which would be very dangerous for every world in the multiverse."

Odin looked toward Loki, then turned his head toward Sigurd as if for confirmation. Sigurd looked at his brother, then nodded.

Odin then spoke. "Let's go. If this is about the destruction of the entire world, then it concerns us as well."

He then looked toward everyone but, seeing Agamotto's condition, added, "Agamotto, your condition isn't good, so I think you should stay here and arrange a funeral for them."

Odin looked toward the dead bodies of his friends, who had fought alongside him for a very long time.

Agamotto wanted to say something but held back. He knew going to fight again in his condition would be too dangerous.

Loki didn't dwell on their situation. "Let's go."

As he opened the portal, he entered, followed closely by Sigurd and all the remaining people.

Agamotto watched the disappearing figures, then looked at the dead bodies.

"Gods fight, and mortals pay with their lives. Now it's time for me to establish human power to counter this kind of situation."

His eyes held a very determined look, as if something missing had returned.

"Let's focus now."

At the same time, Sigurd emerged from the portal to find himself before the God Quarry. Looking at the Quarry, he knew this wasn't the place where the One Above All had taken him.

After all, where he had gone was more dangerous, and the power he gained there wasn't something the God Quarry could grant.

Sigurd tried to sense his surroundings, feeling only a similarity to where he had gained his power, but this place lacked the negative mist that had filled the God Quarry where he received his power.

Sigurd shook his head, then looked toward the battle raging at the Avengers Tower in the God Quarry.

"Everyone, we should move quickly. The battle there is more intense than we expected."

Loki looked toward Sigurd. "This guy is only from Earth-616. Is this some kind of diversion from another world?"

Loki could only sigh at the anomaly. "The multiverse has always been abnormal. I hope this guy isn't the type who has a knack for power."

While Loki was lost in thought, they arrived in front of the Avengers Tower in the God Quarry, where the battle between the Prime Avengers and the Mephisto variants was raging at full intensity.

Thor didn't even look to see who was charging but was the first to attack a variant of Mephisto. Seeing Thor charge, the others also found their targets.

At the same time, Supreme Doctor Doom looked toward the arrival of the newcomers and couldn't help but curse.

"Damn it, these people arrived here early. At least Mephisto should have breached the God Quarry by now."

He then looked toward his own variants. "You should join the battle as well; otherwise, we might lose our chance to gain the power."

While everyone was fighting, Mephisto of Earth-616 from the future timeline observed the battle.

"Damn it, how do I break the barrier?"

Just as he was about to think of another plan, someone walked toward him. Mephisto looked toward the approaching figure.

"Thanos, shouldn't you be helping Doom? After all, your Masters of Evil have to deal with our Council of Red."

Young Thanos looked toward Mephisto. "Don't take me for a fool, Mephisto. Your deal with the Masters of Evil was just a distraction you created to launch an attack on the God Quarry."

Mephisto looked toward young Thanos. "Hahaha, you fools believed it. What could I do? But you weren't just tools to distract the Prime Avengers—you also helped me gain something that can easily break the barrier."

Young Thanos looked confused, as if he didn't understand. Mephisto looked at him, and his smile grew deeper.

"While you were destroying world after world, my variants and I siphoned energy from the universes ruined by your group."

Young Thanos' expression finally showed understanding—this was why the Council of Reds had been helping them all along, as if eager for the destruction of different worlds.

"This is why you didn't let us attack Earth-616 at the beginning."

Mephisto looked at him as if he were a fool who had been played all along, but young Thanos suddenly smiled as if he had realized something.

"But you know, Mephisto, Doom already knew your plan all along. He was just playing us and you to achieve his goal. I don't think he'll let you swallow whatever power lies on the other side of the barrier."
