Chapter 60 - conspiracy

Sigurd, looking toward his family bond, couldn't help but feel very happy.

"At least nothing has changed."

Then he looked toward Hela to sense whether fighting in the wars had changed her, but observing her, he thought,

"Her strength has increased quite a lot. It looks like for her protection, a few things need to be arranged."

Sigurd recalled the memory of Hela where her best weapons were the Nightsword and her cloak, which restored her energy. She had needed the cloak because she was linked to Hel by Odin. So this time, she needed something different or more powerful.

"The Nightsword she can already manifest from her power, but she doesn't need a cloak as she isn't banished, so she can walk freely anywhere. So what will be suitable for her?"

Sigurd shook his head, then walked along with Odin toward the palace. Sigurd looked toward Odin.

"Has the trouble been solved? Did you find any clues about Laufey?"

Odin looked toward Sigurd, then shook his head.

"No, he has been hiding. Our army is looking for him all over the Nine Realms, but I think he might be hiding using some shielding magic; even Heimdall can't sense his presence."

Sigurd, although he knew the future story, wasn't clear on the specifics, so even he could only wait and watch. After all, Laufey is the father of Loki. He won't die before Loki is born.

"It's okay; anyway, we don't need to spend too much energy on him. Even Laufey wielding the Casket of Ancient Winters, his outcome won't change."

Odin looked toward his brother, who had been roaming around different worlds for more than a thousand years.

"Sigurd, don't you feel it's high time for you to establish your own kingdom? With your strength, it will be easy to find an unknown realm. You could even increase your power in the process."

Sigurd looked toward his brother in surprise.

"Brother, you know I don't like running a kingdom. Why would I establish something I don't like?"

Odin looked toward his brother but still pursued the point.

"If you don't want to establish a kingdom, then why don't you find an unknown dimension like Asgard and establish it as a backup plan for our people?"

Sigurd was still thinking about why his brother was focusing so much on establishing a new kingdom or finding an unknown dimension. He suddenly realized something.

"Did you have a vision about Ragnarok? Is someone targeting our kingdom?"

Sigurd suddenly spread his sense toward Yggdrasil. As his sense spread deep into Yggdrasil, he didn't find anything related to Those Who Sit Above in Shadow.

Sigurd looked toward his brother as if questioning his reason.

Odin looked toward his brother's reaction and knew Sigurd might know more about the world than he had imagined.

"Sigurd, I haven't had any vision recently, but I have felt uneasy for a few years, as if something is watching me every time."

Sigurd heard his brother and knew this might be the doing of Those Who Sit Above in Shadow. After all, these old beings had no identity but survived by feeding on energy from the Ragnarok cycle.

"Brother, you don't have to worry about those things. We have faced a lot of enemies together. This problem will be solved as well. As for establishing a kingdom, let it pass, but I will find an unknown dimension for future trouble."

Odin nodded, then he spoke again.

"The weapons I wanted Eitri to make are prepared. Do you want to go?"

Sigurd heard about the weapons and thought of the Destroyer.

"Of course. Let's see what masterpiece Eitri has made, which took him more than a thousand years."

As Sigurd walked toward the palace where Hippolyta was sitting with his mother and Frigga…

At the same time, in Jotunheim, King Laufey was sitting in a cave covered in snow. As Laufey looked toward his general, one of the Frost Giant generals spoke.

"King, the Asgardian army has been looking for your whereabouts everywhere. They have been slaughtering our people. They have even started to search every tribe of Frost Giants, and if anyone resisted, they killed them without mercy."

Laufey looked toward his men helplessly.

"I know what they are doing. Although I want to fight them, right now our Frost Giants don't have enough power to face Asgard. Do you want me to sacrifice my whole army and people?"

The Frost Giant heard his king's words and couldn't help but kneel down.

"King, I don't want our people to die, but they are humiliating our whole race. If we don't reply to them, they won't stop until our race becomes extinct."

Laufey shook his head.

"You don't know Asgardians; they are arrogant creatures. This time, because I took their trophy from their vault, it angered them. If we start a war now, they won't stop until they slaughter every Frost Giant."

He then walked from his throne toward a transparent white layer that looked like snow. He flicked his hand, and an image of Hela killing Frost Giants was shown.

"Odin doesn't want the Casket of Ancient Winters back; he wants to train his future heir. Our Frost Giants are her training targets. Can't you see? Everyone in this army is the 3rd generation of Asgard. They just want to train their future generation at the cost of Frost Giant lives."

Listening to their king's words, everyone in the hall was fuming with anger.

"These bastard Asgardians! What do they think of us? They treat us as if we are some kind of animal!"

"My king, please give me the order! I will personally kill these brats. Asgard has to know the price of underestimating us!"

Laufey looked at the scene, then raised his hand.

"Everyone, please be silent. I know you all want to kill these Asgardians, but we need to plan properly."

He then walked back toward his throne.

"I have a plan that might make Asgard pay a heavy price. If this plan is successful, Asgard will lose its heir. But we have to plan it carefully, as a head-on confrontation with Asgard will only cause disaster."

Laufey looked toward the image of Hela.

"Odin, you killed my children on Midgard, but this time you will receive the most painful lesson of your life."
