Inside the bathroom…
Summer stood beneath the shower, warm water cascading over her. The heat relaxed her body, washing away the remnants of sleep, but her thoughts were anything but peaceful.
"His mother accused me again, and now he comes acting all considerate," she muttered. "If he thinks I'll soften and go back to help his brother, he has mistaken. I'm not going back."
Her thoughts drifted to the "surprise" he had mentioned earlier.
"What has he planned this time?" she wondered quietly.
Curiosity hadn't faded from her heart. But she stubbornly brushed it off.
"Whatever. I don't care."
She turned off the shower and reached for a towel, only to grasp empty air. Her eyes widened.
She hadn't brought one in.
"Damn it," she cursed under her breath, squeezing her eyes shut in annoyance.
In her rush to avoid Gideon, she had stormed into the bathroom without thinking.
"How careless can I be?"
