Her hand shook as she picked up the file. Every instinct screamed at her not to open it, certainly not to sign it. Still, she forced herself to look.
The contract stated plainly that she would receive twelve million over the course of a year. The amount itself didn't make her gasp. What froze her was the endless list of terms and conditions printed in stark black letters.
She was not allowed to defy him. She had to obey, submit completely, and fulfill his demands without question. Questioning him was strictly forbidden.
'What kind of clauses are these?' she thought, her anxiety mounting with every line she read.
Then one condition made her blood run cold.
She was not permitted to terminate the contract under any circumstances. If she did, she would be required to repay the full twelve million.
It was madness.
