Just as Summer was about to fall, a large hand closed around her wrist. With a sharp pull, she was yanked into Gideon's chest, her fingers instinctively clutching his arm.
"Ouch," he hissed, his face tightening in pain.
Her heart skipped when she realized she had unintentionally hurt him. "I—I'm so sorry," she blurted out. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I—"
"It's okay," he cut in gently. Despite the ache, he forced a smile. "I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" she asked, searching his face.
He nodded, but when his eyes drifted to her bare shoulder, his thoughts scattered. His gaze lingered, sliding lower until it settled on her cleavage.
Droplets of water still clung to her skin, and the desire he had buried for so long stirred awake. He wanted to pull her closer, to brush those droplets away with his lips.
Catching his stare, Summer quickly covered herself. "Pervert," she muttered, shooting him a sharp look.
